'Desperate Housewives': Can't anybody keep a secret?

1673__bree_l [WARNING: Mild spoilers ahead]

Attention, Desperate Housewives stars and producers: Shut up already! How are we supposed to stay interested in the forthcoming third season if you all won't stop leaking plot details? First there was creator Marc Cherry himself spilling the beans about the supermarket sweeps-month bloodbath. Last week came the leaked video of Orson (Kyle MacLachlan) broadening Bree's (Marcia Cross) sexual horizons. This week, Eva Longoria and others dished out plenty of spoilers to EW in our current DH cover story. Finally, on the heels of Wednesday's news of Cross' real-life pregnancy, Longoria tells Access Hollywood that the baby bump will be written into the show, though Longoria said she didn't know whether Orson or someone else would be the one to impregnate Bree. Seriously, what's left to find out? (Let me guess: Edie's really a man, bay-bee!)

To be fair, EW and PopWatch have aided and abetted all this spoilage, but we wouldn't print it if they weren't so eager to blab it. Plus, what else could they do except write in a Bree baby? The hiding-behind-sofas-and-potted-plants thing doesn't really fool anyone. As the great philosopher Shakira once said, hips don't lie.

I hope that DH finds an appropriate way to repay EW for the article that is the ONLY reason I will consider tuning back in to a show I grew to despise. Let's hope they live up to great expectations.

Hey, they need all the help they can get. After last season, I think DH is on a lot of people's break-up list and what better way to get people re-interested then to start spilling the beans. It's definitely Marc Cherry's cry for help. Look at Grey's Anatomy. They will spill absolutely nothing and I don't know about everyone else but I can't wait for the season opener. However, if I didn't have TIVO, I probably wouldn't even watch DH this season.

Desperate Housewives is all about the dark humor and that is what makes it so cool. However, last year I think that the Caleb and Matthew saga kinda got tiresome.

I for one I am very interested in this third season of the Housewives, I am not the kind of person who likes surprises so I don´t mind finding out little things before its due time.I watch this show for Marcia Cross and whatever storyline that involves her it´s guaranteed that she will do wonders with it, so far she hasn´t had a bad performance so I am tuning in for her. Thanks for the little article... Love the phrase about that great philosopher Shakira!!!!

I know it's 9/11 and all but come on, where's the news.

Bren Mon, Sep 11, 2006 at 11:43 AM EST

They said last year that Joely Fisher's character would get pregnant, and that never happened.

I hate the idea of Bree having a baby, when she starts to show, they should just have her and Orson go on a honeymoon until Marcia Cross gives birth.

Yeah, when you say Sunday nights is for Netflix, you want us to think you're ordering up Fellini films or something, when we all know you're probably hosting Pauly Shore marathons.

I don't mind the spoilers, as long as the show is as funny, witty, and emotionally involved as it was during the first season.

Oh, and the line about Shakira had me on the floor! LOL! Classic!

I'm starting to be reminded of that old proverb: "Too much hypeth maketh too much disappointment-eth"

Ed Mon, Sep 11, 2006 at 09:05 AM EST

I don't consider myself "weak minded", just lazy. I'm not going to change my Sunday night habit of a full stomach, lazy couch and channel 7.

I'll be watching this season. I think that Marc Cherry and the rest of the gang took notice and are working hard to make this season a good one. In this case the spoilers are needed.

Snarky Mon, Sep 11, 2006 at 08:41 AM EST

Of course major spoilers have been leaked. Season 2 was dreadful, (not that the first season was great, just a novelty). ABC & Cherry have to resort to "desperate" measures in an attempt to lure viewers back. Sorry, but lightning doesn't strike twice.

DH is for the weak minded viewers out there, so they can probably use the spoilers. While Cold Case is decent enough, Sunday nights are meant for Netflix.
