Alanis Morissette will appear on 'Nip/Tuck'

174934__am_l Isn’t it ironic that Alanis Morissette has a song called "Not the Doctor," yet she’ll be the love interest of one while she guest-stars on Nip/Tuck? Morissette, who gets caught up in a tryst with anesthesiologist Dr. Liz Cruz (Roma Maffia ), began taping the first of three episodes last week. (Look for her on the Oct. 31 episode.)

What do you think, PopWatchers? Brilliant idea? Or has Nip/Tuck just filled the stunt-casting void left by the retirement of Will & Grace?

I'm glad that Ryan Murphy is back writing Nip/Tuck (can't wait for Running With Scissors) because last season you could REALLY feel his abscence. I think they use their guest stars MUCH better than W&G (Although the Matt Damon ep is a personal fave "Hey Girlfriend! Whatchoo wearin' to Europe!") They usually have people playing against type like Sanaa Lathan and Brooke Shields did. I think the Christian might be gay story line is sort of weird (at 40 he'd know if he was gay) but it could be fun and seeing Mario Lopez's booty (and dimples!) is a welcome treat. I think Alanis might be cool too. It's about time Roz got some action! And where are Matt and Kimber????

Can't wait to see this - I'm a fan of Alanis, never saw "Nip and Tuck".

Ryan and Alanis are back together.

Will and Grace (for the most part) made great work of their guest stars. I never saw it is a cheap casting ploy but rather ways to make a great show even greater.

Mira Sorvino, Cher, Sandra Bernhard, Kevin Bacon, Madonna...there were a lot of funny bits.

Really Phil. Thanks for the information. Reynolds is a cutie, but he has to stop over acting with the comedy. My brother and I watched "Waiting" only because he heard a rumor that it was written by someone who worked at an Applebees. My brother also worked at an Applebees so he wanted to see if it was an accurate description. The movie was cheese, and his acting...well it was a step down from Van Wilder. However, what happened in the movie was an exaggerated but accurate description.

I love Nip/Tuck! It's filled the void that one, Ally McBeal left and two Will & Grace is gone too...
the guest stars keep it fresh and let's them flex their acting muscles! I miss the surreal moments of season 1.
Bring the stars on!

Tawdry, gays are the ultimate must-have and for you to use the words, "finger snapping" you're only catagorizing yourself.

The Office season II DVD - YAWN!

Phil Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 02:07 PM EST

Alanis and Ryan ended their engagement, I wanna say back in May. Ryan is HOTTTTTTTTTTTT. But yes, Alanis is NOT a lesbian, just Canadian!

Stephanie Travitsky Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 01:16 PM EST

Hey!:

The last time that I checked, Alanis was enagaged to Ryan "I worship Jim Carey" Reynolds from the Canadian serial Fifteen, and the comedy show Two Guys and a Pizza Place/and a girl.

Alanis...is....God......

Tawdry Audrey Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 12:59 PM EST

Will & Grace is an idiotic sitcom that treats gay male friends as the ultimate accessory. They're finger-snapping queens!

I'll spend my DVD dollars on "The Office" season two, thank you very much.

I loved last week's season premiere of Nip/Tuck, & I'm looking forward to tonight's episode! If Alanis' guest stint is as enjoyable as Larry Hagman, Sanaa Lathan, Brooke Shields and Kathleen Turner were last week, I can't wait for Halloween to get here for the TRICKS AND THE TREATS!! From the previews though, I believe Sanaa and Larry will be around quite a bit this season, whereas most of the W&G guests were only around for one episode.

hey! Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 12:27 PM EST

i always thought she was a lesbian. now its for sure, cuz playing one on tv means ur gay.

kenny k Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 12:24 PM EST

She was pretty good in that episode of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM.

Ed Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 12:23 PM EST

Remember 'lantis on Sex and the City, she played the lesbian - sooooo funny!

Ed Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 12:22 PM EST

J Lo was used perfectly on Will & Grace! remember when she ran into Karen in the bathroom and asked how Rosario was doing? and Karen said she was working on her masters degree! LOL! Then Karen asked how she was doing and J. Lo replied, "oh I'm working on my real estate lisence". So funny considering that J. Lo at the time was already: acting, singing, clothes designer and perfum seller. Hey why not add real estate broker to the list.

Tawdry, you need to do some DVD shopping of Will & Grace, it's funnier than f*ck!

Stephanie Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 11:49 AM EST

I still say that she was funny on "You Can't Do That on Television."

Liza Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 10:22 AM EST

Happy about see Alanis on Nip/Tuck, I hope she gets to sing.

Dave Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 10:12 AM EST

Can't wait for Mario Lopez!

Tawdry Audrey Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 09:22 AM EST

Me again. I know, I know, "get back to work."

How come Roma Maffia was not nominated for an Emmy? Oh, because awards shows suck? Oh yeah, I forgot. Sorry.

Tawdry Audrey Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 09:20 AM EST

Will & Grace's use of big names was an obvious and pathetic attempt at boosting ratings, or at the very least, helping a sitcom that sucked from the very beginning! Nip/Tuck, in addition to being incomparable from W&G, did not. Other "big names" used in past seasons have been Famke Janssen, Vanessa Redgrave and Anne Heche. I doubt most of the world even knows who those people are. But Jennifer Lopez, when used on W&G in that shameful episode, is a household name. I think even my granpda knows who she is, and he calls black people "coloreds."

Paul U. Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 09:10 AM EST

seems fine to me...

Ed Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 09:00 AM EST

The Will & Grace method of using actors was great! Remember Glenn Close as the photographer, Madge, and Sandra Bernhard; they we're all worth seeing.

But if you want to talk about celebs being used...how about Mario Lopez in his soon to be seen naked scene? At least Will & Grace didn't pull that to try and reel me in. I'm hooked.

mike Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 08:09 AM EST

This is the second episode of the season. Last week, Kathleen Turner, Larry Hagman, and Brooke Shields guest starred. But they were used well. As long as the the carver mess from last year is over.

Kay Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 07:53 AM EST

Yay Alanis Morrisette! Alanis is not a terrible actress; she guest-starred on an episode of Lovespring International on Lifetime. Nip/Tuck is an awesome show on its own, and it doesn't need stunt casting to compensate.

JL Tue, Sep 12, 2006 at 07:44 AM EST

She is going to be a wonderful addition! I dont think Nip/Tuck is filling that void left by Will and Grace at all. W&G was using the guest stars to try and boost their ratings, but I dont believe this is why Nip/Tuck is doing it. I welcome the addition of a few guest stars like this!
