Don't call it a comeback: L.L. Cool J moves to TV

95848__ll_l And the first nominee for the biggest name in television in 2007 goes to... LL Cool J? Nope, no need to insert the sound of the needle scratching across the record... apparently, it's true. According to Variety, the rapper who's loved by the ladies just signed ''one of the richest TV talent deals in recent years'' to develop and star in a series for CBS. The Eye Network apparently beat out two other competitors who were jonesin' for some LL after seeing the rapper-turned-actor's guest spot on House last season. And while the news makes sense -- after all, wasn't LL a total scene stealer in movies like Deep Blue Sea, Any Given Sunday, and S.W.A.T.? -- I say, why not cast him to take over an existing series, rather than risk wasting the dude's talents on one of those high-profile, low-yield star vehicles the networks are so good at green-lighting? In fact, I'd make LL the new lead on CSI: Miami, a show I've removed from my DVR thanks to chronically spec-jankular writing that exists mostly to highlight David Caruso's rivetingly (remove sunglasses, pause) awful (put on sunglasses, look meaningfully at a child) performance (stare into horizon, grimace, and cut to commercial).

Anyhow, riddle me this: If you ran CBS, what kind of vehicle would you envision for LL Cool J? (Whatever you do, don't call it a comeback.)

That is why he is THE GOAT. All that he do is good. ALL that he do. Marriage, acting, social work, rap, guest appearances, books (3rd one comin in 2007), consistency, producing, (Yall did not know that HUH, LOL!) wrriting for other artists such as Run DMC, Bow wow, Mc Lyte. (Did I mention b4 Yall did not know that either?) Also inspire peeps like Fat JOE, Michael Clark Duncan, samuel jackson, he is an Cultural ICON. Look at all of his career and see for ya self. Won so so so many awards. The GOAT baby!!!! Go LL Go LL Go LL Get Down!! Off of his CD BAD 1987.

I recently saw LL in a not well known movie called "Mindhunters". He was amazing in this film and is usually pretty great in any acting role. I would like to see him in a mystery or action type series or maybe switch it up and play a gay character, that would really shock the ladies!

I'm also embarrassed for Slezak, but for an entirely different reason. "Spec-jankular"??? Danielle said it first, I think that gives HER the right to make that phrase jump the shark, not you!

Wow! LL looks fantastic. He is definitely taking care of himself. I loved him on television before, I hope they give him a show with substance. Hoping for good things from LL.

A nude LL show, I'm there. Could there also be a way for HBO to create another network where they air the nude LL show like 24 hours a day...

But seriously, LL's doesn't have the sharpest of funny bones (bone, hehehe) but if they make him the straight man with a bunch of funny people around him, it could bring out his natural charm... Also, please sign Gabrielle Union as the Diane to his Sam... Talk about chocolate love (don't worry, I'm embarrassed I said that too)...

It is hard not to love the Cool J, I hope that they find a good vehicle for him. For an old show, how about a modern, smart variation on Welcome Back, Kotter? Another idea, since I still have visions of his boxing in "Mama Said Knock You Out," how about something where he plays a Tysonesque out-there boxer trying to acclimate to newly retired civilian life and hunting for his next career?

I envision LL in a series sitcom for HBO rather than CBS. In it, LL would always be nude; in his world, there would be no such thing as clothing. This would go great for HBO since they are always trying to reinvent the series sitcom. I don't know what the series would be about but it would involve LL with no clothes ALL the time.

S.W.A.T. Why not?

Word to that mother, Stryker. That's the first thing I thought of when I heard the words LL and TV.

Stryker Mon, Jul 31, 2006 at 04:15 PM EST

What the hell? A full posting on LL coming to TV and not one mention of "In the House"- his awesomely awful sitcom from the 90's? I'm embarassed for you Slezak!
