Let's re-cast: William Fichtner joins 'Prison Break'

Jun 19, 2006, 12:31 PM | by Michael Slezak

Categories: 'Desperate Housewives', 'Prison Break', Emmys, Television

9369__will_l In William Fichtner's continuing and mostly successful quest to make people forget he ever appeared in Passion of Mind comes word that he'll be joining the cast of Fox's Prison Break for its second season, playing a federal agent who's hot on the trail of the show's on-the-lam lead characters. This ''happy-morning'' news for Fichtner fans, many of whom would like to see him land an Emmy nod for his creepy turn on ABC's recently departed Invasion, got me thinking about one of my favorite topics: Which players from recently canceled or concluded shows might spruce up existing series come fall?

I'd snag Six Feet Under's Mathew St. Patrick, who did some wild scenery chewing opposite the emotional ciphers on Fox's ridonkulous Reunion last fall, and cast him on Desperate Housewives as a hunky personal trainer who unleashes an unexpected competitive vibe among the women of Wisteria Lane. Think you can beat that casting suggestion? Go ahead and try.

i am mohamed habli and i love to wacth prison break and i love william that was good when i see in the film and you are very good william

heather Tue, Apr 8, 2008 at 06:51 PM EST

How come no one is writing back?

heather Thu, Apr 3, 2008 at 07:44 AM EST

i started off hating his character Agent Alex Mahone, he was killing off my favorite people. Now that all of my favorites are dead, he has become my favorite character in the whole series (that's still living).
I like Michael and Link, but they're not my favorite.

heather Thu, Apr 3, 2008 at 07:38 AM EST

Why aren't you guys talking about prison break? Or William Fichtner? Isn't this web page for him>

Faline Edward(http://www.foxprisonbreaks.com/) Thu, Aug 23, 2007 at 12:13 AM EST

Prison Break season 2 is a must for Prison Break fans. No one should ever miss a chance to watch it live. Michael and Sara are so great together!!

Vera Mon, Jun 11, 2007 at 07:56 AM EST

Cool! Charisma Carpenter as a sexy soccer Mom who moves into Wisteria Lane and makes all of the women jealous. Hell, maybe let her team up with Edie to bring down Susan!!! For example site: playboylady.info not bed too and have good pics! Good Lock!

Lexi Thu, Jan 4, 2007 at 04:53 PM EST

I dont get it are they gonna Cancel the GREATEST show ever made!!Prison Break!

Vita Sat, Oct 7, 2006 at 10:30 AM EST

Hi!! Today has found new photos here - http://www.topstargirls.com/ ! By, good work!

Jennifer Prince Fri, Jul 14, 2006 at 12:16 PM EST

INVASION!Bring it back and get W.Fichtner back as well, it wouldn't be the same without him. ABC you suck! Quit cancelling shows. People really are going to stop watching shows. This can only go on for so long before people will not even try to get interested in a show for fear that it will be gone. Stop being so quick to pull a show. Give shows a chance like in the old days.

Miroslav Sat, Jul 8, 2006 at 06:43 PM EST

Stop canceling the greatest shows!!!!!Can't you see people like them??What do we have to do to show it.Shows like Invasion are the most populat right now and you are stopping it?Why don't you stop the whole tv-at least we will not begin watching not finished shows.Stop making one - season shows and give them a chance to develop.I am getting sick of watching good shows that are interrupted in the middle.

Abbey Sat, Jul 1, 2006 at 09:53 PM EST

Bring Jennifer Esposito to Gilmore Girls as Luke's rebound girl. Lorelai Who?

Holly Wed, Jun 28, 2006 at 01:19 PM EST

I think Holly Marie Combs would be good on House also. Maybe she could be a new doctor or something. I would start watching that show more often,

tom clancy Thu, Jun 22, 2006 at 07:40 AM EST

cathy moriarty as mafia assasin in the sopranos

Adam Thu, Jun 22, 2006 at 07:33 AM EST

My show: David Cross and Paul Reubens play brothers who tour on the sci-fi/comic convention circuit selling autographed 8x10s and rare comics. On tour with them is the ghost of a fictional comic book writer named Challenge Baxter. He follows them because when he died, his wife had his blood poured into the ink of a special tribute issue of a comic book. The ghost artist can sense people in trouble, and he puts the two brothers into a position where they must help people whenever possible.

Walter Gamble Thu, Jun 22, 2006 at 06:58 AM EST

How about the great Nicholas Brendon on Curb Your Enthusiasm as himself hanging around Larry so he can learn his character and play a young Larry in a movie on his life. That could be hilarious

Lois Gordon Thu, Jun 22, 2006 at 05:13 AM EST

I say bring back the Browncoats (al of 'em), in Joss Whedon's FIREFLY !!

Nancy Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 10:17 PM EST

James Marsters in anything!!!! The man was an acting God on Buffy and Angel, and has been wasted on Smallville. Any show that gets him will receive an acting quality boost, plus loads of female fans, ratings Spike, and chemistry with any female lead. The man rules!

Sparky Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 09:17 PM EST

George Wendt and John Ratzenburger in a really serious show. Yup, imagine. Norm and Cliff getting shot up in 24. Or in someone's flashback in Lost.

kate Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 07:48 PM EST

I would love it if the ladies of THE WEST WING were to find their way onto other shows. Allison Janney would do justice to any show on the air, though I would love to see her on '24' as a boss, or 'Entourage' as an insane-yet-admirable producer, or, if she preferred dramedy, as just about anything on 'NCIS' with Mark Harmon. I would also really enjoy (and could see) Janel Moloney on 'House' or my must watches of next season 'Justice' 'Studio 60' and 'Smith.'

Emily Van Camp should go to anything, as long as she's on TV next year, as should Chris Pratt... and he's not to young to be an intern.

LYNNE Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 06:14 PM EST

You know, I liked some of those cast members from CONVICTION which was on Friday nights on NBC recently.
OF course it got cancelled. I don't know their names...but I liked quite a few of those young ADA's on
that show.

TIA TEXADA ...oh yes...she was great on THIRD WATCH.
I was so mad when NBC cancelled that one.
What a good cast they had. Really good characters.
I don't feel NBC really ever promoted Third Watch all that well at all. They just let it go.
Too bad for sure.

ABC did the same thing this year with INVASION...the network did not really get behind that show .
Did not do enough to draw new viewers to it....though, as you see here...there was a significant fan base for
it. STill the top execs at ABC let it go.
WRONG WRONG WRONG. Stupid fools.

snoogins Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 05:17 PM EST

How about Matt Leblanc as a very stupid CTU agent on 24. This show seems to be getting dumber as it goes on and so does its cast. He would fit right in.

E. Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 05:01 PM EST

Please re-cast anybody/everybody from threshold, a great show that should have been given a chance to grow....Also, throw Scott bakula a bone, somebody...He was really good on enterprise

cindi Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 01:29 PM EST

PLEASE BRING BACK "THIRD WATCH"
Tia Texada in something....what a great tough girl she played and how I cried when she blew herself up on the last show with two hand granades!!! While playing Maritza Cruz, she was a tough, take no crap from anyone, cop. In real life shes quite more the sweet girl next door. Excellent actress, deserves an excellent part on a great show with a nice fat paycheck!!!!

BoC Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 01:26 PM EST

I agree about putting Eddie Cibrian on Lost; though I really think he could have been cast as Jack.

I would love to see everyone from the cast of Six Feet Under land roles in good projects. One that springs to mind ... Joanna Cassidy (SFU's Margaret Chenowith) on 24; I bet there's a juicy role that could be made for her.

Lindsay Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 12:54 PM EST

I think Eddie Cibrian should be on LOST. Some of the background survivors are going to be coming forward and being regulars. He's be perfect!!!

Also on LOST Emily Van Camp from Everwood. Since they killed of Shannon they need a young girl to come forward.

Let's see...who else...Oh Chris Pratt. I think he'd be great on Grey's Anatomy.

Vivien Cardone should be cast in Peter Jacksons new movie The Lovely Bones as Susie Salmon.

Maggie Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 12:25 PM EST

Jessica Steen needs to be a regular on something - not just a recurring character on NCIS. She was on Killer Instinct this past season but that tanked. Maybe anothe sci-fi show - she was great as Dr. Heller on Earth2. Or a comedy - she's hilarious in real life.

Cass Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 12:23 PM EST

Michael Zegen (Damian on "Rescue Me") should have his own show. He's adorable and funny and needs to be on a Judd Apatow type sitcom.

Jessica Dwyer Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 12:16 PM EST

Here's an idea:

Sci-Fi channel, get rid of the stupid wrestling that has absolutely NOTHING to do with sci-fi and bring back the amazing Invisible Man that you cancelled after 2 freaking seasons. Too expensive my a$$. How much are you paying Vince McMahon for his crappy leavings? Ugh...just kill me now.

savana Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 11:37 AM EST

no one has mentioned a single thing about the cancellation of Surface. I never watched Lost, that housewife show or invasion. Im just glad they kept the 4400 on...but cancelling surface with a cliffhanger like that is just not fair

Dee Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 11:25 AM EST

Invasion cancelled, West Wing Cancelled, The "Others" are the "Good Guys"(?!),"Boss Lady" is robbed of "Mother of the Year",Tony gets yet another BJ in his car, and STILL nobody is charged with running over Mrs Solis. I hate TV.

Kirk Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 10:37 AM EST

I would like to see me. Um I mean William Shatner in anything, something please. You people are killing me!

Carol Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 10:29 AM EST

I can't believe that Invasion and Commander in Chief have been canceled. Excellent shows. Needed more time to pick up viewers. No longer like Lost. Too confusing. What is going on????

Maryanne Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 10:18 AM EST

I didn't watch Invasion or Lost. Apparently I've missed some really good shows.I did watch Charmed. I will really miss that show. I love Holly Marie Combs.I think she would be great on House.

Sydney Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 10:03 AM EST

Bring Stephanie March back to Law and Order SVU! After the cancellation of 'Conviction' Dick Wolfe should have signed Stephanie March back onto SVU. Bringing Alex Cabot back is the best answer to fixing the Elliot/Olivia tension issues that may bring the show (gulp) to jumping the shark.

Brien Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 09:52 AM EST

Also either Leslie Nielsen or Chevy Chase should join the cast of Scrubs, their schtick would be a welcome addition

Brien Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 09:43 AM EST

Will Arnett and "Gob" need a spinoff, preferrably dealing with hilarious underworld of Magicians.

Ricky Gervais should do a cameo for the "The Office" as the CEO of Dunder Mifflin.

Mandy Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 09:42 AM EST

Long live Invasion!! If not on Network TV... perhaps another channel? Sci-Fi, are you out there?? We need you.

Nancy Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 09:41 AM EST

I hear that Dennis Christopher will soon be on DEADWOOD. Is it true?

buck Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 09:34 AM EST

Why not add Robin Givens as the newest
Desparate Housewife? She has it all,
the looks, the acting chops, and the
ability to play a real vixen. She could
make all the other housewives nervous
when their husbands start checking her
out. You could throw in Blair Underwood
as her long lost hubby.

Callie Ray Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 09:19 AM EST

Joey deserved a BIG TIME ratings boost by reuniting the Friends cast to see what has become of Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler, and Phoebe since the finale aired two years ago. That way, Joey would stay on for a few more years instead of going into oblivion.

Thanks a lot, Jeff Zucker, for cancelling yet another great show. :(

Jim Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 01:42 AM EST

The cast of Everwood should reappear next fall in a new season of Everwood.

Jennifer Bale Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 12:24 AM EST

I would watch anything that Holly Marie Combs was on. I would love to see her in something like Smallville or something. I would also love to see Geena Davis on Law and order or 24.

Alisha Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 12:07 AM EST

Chris Pratt, smug new resident on House? I'd love to see him in a character quite different than Bright...if it's anythng like Bright I'll start to lament about the fact that it's gone. CW made a huge mistake.

LYNNE Wed, Jun 21, 2006 at 12:00 AM EST

William Fitchner was GREAT on Invasion. I emailed ABC about 30 times from April to May begging them not to let him go and not to cancel Invasion. Fools must be running their program department. It was also great coming on right after Lost.

As you can see by these messages here, there were people that watched and LIKED Invasion.
I am at least glad that we will be able to see William Fitchner SOMEPLACE next season on tv.
He is a very talented man. He should get an Emmy nomination for Invasion.

Nan Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 11:55 PM EST

I watched the last show of Invasion, half-heartedly, knowing they weren't going to bring it back. I loved the show. To me it was better than Lost. It had a story line that you could actually follow and get involved with. Lost is too far gone. Invasion needs to come back. Put it on a network that cares about its viewers. Everyone stop watching ABC. They only want your money and nothing more.

Daniel Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 10:16 PM EST

"Everwood's" Emily VanCamp or Gregory Smith (or frankly anyone from its fine young ensemble) would be at home on "Veronica Mars" or "Gilmore Girls." Frankly, I'd rather see Rory with a character played by Smith or Chris Pratt than with the smug Logan Huntzberger.

David Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 10:13 PM EST

TWO WORDS: DAVID CROSS
He should just have his own show.

Richard Fink Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 06:46 PM EST

Recast Katie Couric in Dan Rather's spot on CBS News.

Jim Mohr Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 06:38 PM EST

Ditch digger.

Kaylie Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 06:38 PM EST

I think Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon, (Models inc, Jaime Foxx show, 10.5 apocalypse) would be an amazing new Housewife. She's so freaking gorgeous.

Bruce Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 06:29 PM EST

Let's bring back Leave It To Beaver and have their next door neighbors be Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie. I can see Ward Cleaver now looking over the white picket fence exclaiming "that's hot"....

Jason Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 06:22 PM EST

INVASION shouldn't be cancelled. What a shame. ABC is losing yet another viewer thanks to their lack of wisdom .

Geof Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 05:55 PM EST

Bring back as many as possible from the cast of The West Wing to work again with Aaron Sorkin on Studio 60.

Chris McVetta Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 04:48 PM EST

Have Treat Williams ("Everwood") join the cast of "Scrubs" as the new hard-ass hospital administator - and a major pain for Dr. Cox and Dr. "Bob" Kelso.

And snag David Anders ("Sark" from "Alias") and cast him as Elliot's new trust-fund boyfriend/surgeon with a "God complex" or something.

The id and I - "Toobin' the tube with that bloggin' dude."
www.theidandi.blogspot.com

Linda Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 04:20 PM EST

Don't recast Invasion! Bring it back... pleeezzeee Sci-Fi channel, anybody? Follow-up movie, something. That & Threshold. Stupid ABC. The buzz was finally growing on Invasion, so kill it. Leave us hanging.... ABC went from 4 shows of appointment T.V. to 3 as far as I'm concerned. I guess I'm supposed be grateful that I at least got to see all of season one...

Ned Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 03:21 PM EST

Rose McGowan from Charmed to...well, anything, I would even watch Yes Dear or According To Jim if she was on it. But it would be great if she ended up on a good show like Lost, or 24.

Kelly Harbin Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:58 PM EST

And the same goes for Everwood too! Another good show that's gone!

Kelly Harbin Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:56 PM EST

I can't believe Invasion isn't coming back! It was great! Not too sci-fi, not too cheesey, not too violent, great actors, great characters, great story line, a lot to look forward to next season, and a lot of viewers, if you ask people I know! Where do they get their faulty data that says a show isn't popular enough? Where are all the good shows going? Every show I end up liking and getting into gets taken off the air too soon! I guess if it doesn't have enough sex or violence or say "Viewer Discretion Advised," then it isn't worthy of a primetime slot with a major network anymore! Grrr!

Jen Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:53 PM EST

Eric McCormack on Desperate Housewives.

Liza Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:51 PM EST

Can we unwack Adriana and bring her back to The Sopranos now that Joey is off the air?

Tony Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:48 PM EST

Chris Pratt from Everwood should show up as Jim's replacement on The Office, provided that Jim takes the job in Stamford.

Emily VanCamp on Grey's Anatomy is a great idea as a new intern.

Tom Amandes is one of my favorite actors and I'd love to see him on Law and Order as a judge or lawyer.
Or on Numbers as a smarmy professor.

Why did they cancel Everwood????

La Quebecoise Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:44 PM EST

I want Invasion back too! It's a creative show, which is such a welcomed change from all those boring so-called reality shows, where unknown people I couldn't care less about strut around like brainless peacocks looking for fame on TV. They're just too damn lazy to get real jobs, and we're suppsed to find them interesting? Boring!

Give us shows where real writers use their creativity and brainpower to give us intriguing stories. Bring back Invasion!

Suz Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:32 PM EST

Allison Janney should be the new Head of the CTU on 24. Or she should make Dr. Cox miserable on Scrubs.

Chris Pratt should join Lane's band on Gilmore Girls.

Richard Schiff should be Veronica's creepy English Lit professor on Veronica Mars

David Cross should work at Barney's office on How I Met Your Mother.

James Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:25 PM EST

Six Feet Under's Peter Krause could come to work with Felicity Huffman at her advertising agency. They could make some references to their long gone roles from the highly underrated Sports Night.

Amanda Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:22 PM EST

The entire cast of Everwood needs to find work on another series because they were all absolutely amazing. I think Chris Pratt and Tom Amandes would be especially great on a smart comedy (like The Office) because they both have amazing comedic timing.

Nathan Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:16 PM EST

David Schiwmer could try to break the Ross typecast as a bad guy on Lost or Desperate Housewives. He did a pretty good job playing an incompetent hardass in HBO's Band of Brothers.

I could also see Matthew Perry on Wisteria lane as Terri Hatcher's newest love interest.

EP Sato Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:08 PM EST

I don't expect it, but would still love to see the castmembers from Arrested Development to make some guest appearances next season. Gob would do well on Old Christine, or as a long lost buddy to Barney on How I met your mother.

Craig Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 02:07 PM EST

If you are upset about the cancellations year after year of good shows, do what I've vowed to do. Don't watch ANY new programs regardless of the casting. If no new programs were watched, perhaps the networks would get the message that they can't yank viewers around. How would they decide what to cancel when every new show had low ratings????

Snixon Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 01:59 PM EST

I know neither of these is cancelled; however, what about putting Alfre Woodward on Boston Legal, I think she is being wasted on Desparate Housewives. She just doesn't quite fit. Also, Geena Davis on Boston Legal would be smashing. And the English actress who used to be Alan Shore's love interest would be great on Desparate Housewives. She has a great air of deep mystery about her, with warm sensuality.

Carlos Mejia Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 01:58 PM EST

Emily VanCamp as a new-batch intern on Grey's Anatomy.

Or Emily VanCamp as the next bitchy neighbor on Housewives.

Or Emily VanCamp as a long-term Patient on House.

Or Emily VanCamp as... actually I'd watch almost anything if she's on it.

trudy Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 12:37 PM EST

I would like to see Eddie Cibrian on any show where he canbe physical and if possible shirless. I would say Lost, but he needs to be able to show those dimples with a smile once in a while.

Greg Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 12:32 PM EST

What about Charmed's Alyssa Milano on any comedy show. She's hilarious! I think the other charmie Holly Marie Combs would do well on a drama. Whoever said HOUSE, I agree!

Vance Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 12:27 PM EST

I love all the ideas too! Except the Eric Balfour one, cause wasn't he already on every show (that ended up being cancelled)? Everyone on Everwood NEEDS to be on TV again. As does the Arrested Development and Love Monkey crews. In fact, each should rotate and do an episode of One Tree Hill each week replacing the current cast. Everwood would pull out all the dramatic heartstrings, Arrested Development would show the absurdity of OTH, and Love Monkey, well, with Tom, Judy Greer, Chris Weihl and co. it would just be a hot cast.

jon Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 12:13 PM EST

Hey, I liked "Passion of Mind!"

Brett Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 11:48 AM EST

Elisha Cuthbert needs to wash up on the Lost Island.

I agree that Charisma Carpenter should waltz onto Wisteria Lane as the hot to trot new soccer mom/stepmom with some secrets of her own (a homage to Veronica Mars if you will).

How about Nicolas Brendan trying his acting chops on Robin in How I Met Your Mother.

Toni Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 11:45 AM EST

I would definitely hire the following:

1) Orlando Jones from The Evidence.(Originality and genius are rarely rewarded on network television. See: Arrested Development). In addition to being a great actor, he's unpredictable, sexy, intense and funny. Cast him as the new magnetic oncologist or psychiatrist (who just happens to be gay) on Grey's Anatomy.

2) The entire cast of Arrested Development. No idea where to place them, but they rock!

3) I agree with Paul. The actress that played Mary Cherry on Popular is FABULOUS! Put her in The Office and set her loose. The same can be said of Jennifer Coolidge and Jennifer Tilly. Or, give the three of them their own sitcom!

Brad Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 09:51 AM EST

I'd like to see members of the cast of Seinfeld get in touch with their dark sides and play psycho-killers on Law & Order. I think Michael Richards could bust his Kramer type-cast playing a sociopath.

will Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 09:51 AM EST

I know, but it should have been.

Roxanne | Jun 20, 2006 9:55:40 AM

> Alyson Hannigan as a phsycology intern on Grey's Anatomy.

Ugghh...How I Met Your Mother didn't get cancelled.

joel Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 09:21 AM EST

Kind of ironic that Henry Winkler's "Out of Practice" got cut for a show named "Shark" as it was the "Happy Days" episode with Fonzie (Henry Winkler) jumping a shark tank on his motorcycle that spawned the phrase "jumped the shark" to indicate when a series began its downhill slide.

Dora Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 09:08 AM EST

I'd put Everwood's Bright Abbot (can't think of the actor's name) on Scrubs or Grey's Anatomy. He proved especially this year that he's really versatile and talented and I'd love to see him struggle with medical issues and be a love interest on one of those shows (he can do touching drama and that sort of humor, I bet he can do great comedy)

Roxanne Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 08:55 AM EST

Combining my two favorite shows:

Jack, Kate, and Sawyer from Lost are taken into a strangely secluded model home, only to find that the "Others" are actually the cast of Arrested Development. Gob thinks he is the leader and puts the moves on Kate, while Lucille decides to let George Sr. live in one of the hatches to "hide" him from the goevernment. Meanwhile Hurley finds it odd that a member of the Blue Man Group is wandering the island. Locke decides to chill out and, once again, have a fun, sexy time on the island.

Henry Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 08:41 AM EST

> Alyson Hannigan as a phsycology intern on Grey's Anatomy.

Ugghh...How I Met Your Mother didn't get cancelled.

Jason Panik Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 08:10 AM EST

Gena Elfman on Boston Legal? Maybe but Freddie Prinz Jr on the show as Donnie Crane..Donnie Crane would kill!! Shatner having a nemesis in house would mean non stop fun....DENNY CRANE

Sara Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 08:03 AM EST

OK, for most of these I was going "meh, yea, I could see that..." but the suggestion of putting Will Arnett on "House" is freakin' brilliant. I don't think he'd be the best choice for "Scrubs" - actually I think Jason Bateman would be better for that. And Allison Janney, yes, I'd watch anything for her ("Drop Dead Gorgeous", anyone?). But Will Arnett was at his absolute best playing a self-centered jackarse, and he was wonderful with playing "AD"'s underhanded humour straight. "House" has darker humour, but it's definitely all played straight... Plus, he'd be great competition for House in terms of Dr. Cameron!

debbie Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 08:00 AM EST

Anyone who is upset that Invasion was cancelled should go to abc.com and send an email complaining. Maybe if they get enough complaints, they'll bring it back!

will Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 07:54 AM EST

Dennis Franz as the new Sheriff of Las Vegas on CSI.
Jimmy Smits as a gay widowed father of two (Adopted)children on Desperate Houswives.
Alyson Hannigan as a phsycology intern on Grey's Anatomy. Danny Masterson as Alan Shores younger brother on Boston Legal

Elle Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 07:51 AM EST

Kristin Davis should be cast on House - she needs a little edge.
Lauren Ambrose should be cast on Prison Break.
Eric Belflour should be cast on seriously ANYTHING. Man oh man is he hot.

Big Joe Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 07:15 AM EST

How about Summer Glau, Jennifer Garner, and Allysa Milano in a TV adaption of Joss Whedon's "Fray?"

Amy Tue, Jun 20, 2006 at 07:10 AM EST

It sucks that Invasion is not returning! I agree that they should atleast had a ending!! Maybe go to another network??!!!

Cassie Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 06:58 PM EST

Cast Allison Janney as Jordan's obstetrician on "Scrubs." It would be worth the iTunes bill to watch her delicious banter with Dr. Cox over and over again.

Joe Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 06:45 PM EST

There was a rumor floating around that Ian McShane has been tapped to play "Him" on Lost. Deadwood fans have been notified that this season is to be the last, not counting two two-hour wrap-up films. That would be a major casting coup.

INVASION was my favorite show last year and it stinks the way they canceled it. It's like ABC is saying - go ahead and spend 20 hours getting totally invested in the story - we couldn't less about our viewers.

At the very least - when a show has a story arc like INVASION - the networks should always give 'em at least a couple two hour episodes to wrap things up.

PS: Jeez - the redesign of EW is butt ugly. MS - help - do something ! ! !

1) Jason Bateman should be on The Office somehow, because his deadpan humor would fit right in on that show. Maybe as someone from Corporate, or maybe Jan's ex-husband, or maybe both!

2) Will Arnett could go to Scrubs, maybe as a rival new doctor to J.D.

3) Love the idea of the entire cast and writers of Everwood replacing the cast and writers of One Tree Hill. That would rule. Seriously, though, all those actors really need to get work because they were fantastic.

am i weird to think every suggestion so far rocks?please more suggestions for gilmore girls the season ended with a major thud. they need to get it together and lauren should never brush fans anger aside again or she'll be out of work(ausiello interview)

Howard Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 03:15 PM EST

Good idea for Jennifer Esposito, but you have to make time for her and Victoria Dillard to guest on Scrubs; they're the only two Spin City regulars not to be on yet.

ShaneXtopher Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 03:07 PM EST

Invasion's hunky Eddie Cibrian as Lawnmower boy John's even hunkier, and age-appropriate, older brother. Gabrielle needs to get back at Carlos for his affair with Xiao Mei.

Eilon Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 02:02 PM EST

I would cast Charmed's Holly Marie Combs on Grey's Anatomy as whatever the writers decide, my suggestion as a contemporary of Bailey, or a love interest for George.

Put Alias's Michael Vartan as the second attending on E.R.

Send Invasion's Kari Matchett to Lost.

Whoever thought of Jenna Elfman to Boston Legal, I second that.

And I would also cast Commander in Chief's Ever Carradine on How I Met Your Mother or Smallville but I'm not sure why, I just think we need to see more of her.

1. Geena Davis should leave the White House and return to her "Long Kiss Goodnight" and "Cutthroat Island" days and join Jack Bauer on his next adventure on 24.

2. Brian Austin Green from "Freddie" should hop over to Wisteria Lane as a new love interest for Gabrielle!

Other ideas I like:
Put Freddie Prinze Jr on What About Brian!
Put Jason Bateman on Old Christine!!! They were great together in Arrested Development!
Put Jenna Elfman on Boston Legal!

Originally Out of Practice was supposed to be picked up for the Fall. I think that it got cut to make room for Shark.

Will Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 01:21 PM EST

The entire principal cast of Everwood deserves to be back on TV. And in movies. They are simply that good.

Ausiello's suggestion that Emily VanCamp get one of the new roles on Lost was a great idea.

holy Dick Wolf! Jennifer Esposito on L&O is the best idea since they put BD Wong on SVU. Certainly better than having Dennis Farina and that dude from Sopranos last year. Why is it always some complete no name female actress on that show? (my apologies to the no names just added to the cast). Does it really cost that much keep Sam Waterson and Fred-this-isn't-die-hard-Thompson?

mike Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 01:04 PM EST

Charisma Carpenter is still gainfully employed on Veronica Mars. I would love to replace the cast of One Tree Hill with the cast of Everwood. We would, of course, replace the writers, first. I don't think Treat Williams and Gregory Smith need the dumb-down dialogue or vacant stares written into the script.
It would be interesting to see the Everwood actors moving into other things. I know Scott Wolf is already in another series.
BTW-curse you, CW

Jarett Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 12:55 PM EST

Cast Jennifer Esposito, of the gone-too-soon Related, as Det. Green's new partner on Law & Order. She proved in Crash that she looks good with a badge on her hip and look at how well the male-female pairing has worked on SVU and Criminal Intent. Plus, she's got the perfect New Yawk accent and would definitely give the aging show a shot in the caboose.

Eric Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 12:42 PM EST

I'd pull Jason Bateman in from Arrested Development and have him lead the way in locating Jack Bauer, if anything the 24 writers have shown they can cast against type and make it work (Sean Astin anyone?).

Anthony Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 12:36 PM EST

I'd watch Matthew St. Patrick in anything, but Desperate Housewives would be good. Hey Michael, what did you think of Beyonce's new track?

Tim Lade Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 12:33 PM EST

Here are my suggestions:

Jennifer Garner as the agent responsible for tracking down my beloved Jack Bauer in the next season of 24.

Carla Gugino may join Gilmore Girls where she and her fine man candy husband can move in next door to Emily and Richard and cause chaos only Kelly Bishop can handle.

And the entire cast of the West Wing in a re-boot of Commander and Chief re-named the West Wing.

Amanda Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 12:27 PM EST

Wait...Invasion isn't coming back? How did I miss that memo? I want to know what is going to happen to planet EARTH!

Ceballos Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 12:23 PM EST

It's been said before, and I'll concede that it's tres cheesy, but:

Donald Sutherland (late of "Commander-in-Chief") on "24" next season. Either as Jack's dad (like it wouldn't be interesting to see what THAT guy was like) or another character (the writers have pretty much admitted in the past that they make some of it up as they go, so why should I have to come up with a concrete storyline six months before Season 6?)

rc Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 12:21 PM EST

I don't want William Fichtner on Prison Break -- I want Invasion back!!!!!

Erika Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 12:16 PM EST

I miss Alyssa Milano and Holly Marie Combs from Charmed. Not sure what I'd want to see them on though. Maybe Holly could be on Bones (if that's still coming back). They both have the comedy- drama down pat and could be good on Housewives.

Maria Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 12:12 PM EST

I would cast Will Arnett on House as a younger, but just as arrogant, version of House with whom he could compete. Also how about replacing the entire cast of One Tree Hill with the cast of Everwood? Just a thought.

Ryan Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 11:57 AM EST

Charisma Carpenter as a sexy soccer Mom who moves into Wisteria Lane and makes all of the women jealous. Hell, maybe let her team up with Edie to bring down Susan.

Paul Ketz Mon, Jun 19, 2006 at 11:55 AM EST

I would definitely use most of the cast of "Out of Practice." CBS was crazy to cancel that sitcom. It was getting really funny. It is rare that any of these sitcoms have you laughing out loud throughout the whole show. "Out of Practice" did that. So, definitely hire Stockard Channing and Jennifer Tilly.

From "What I Like About You" I would hire the actress that played Mary Cherry on Popular. Put her as crazy, spoiled intern on ER or something. Let her really let loose. She is hilarious!
