R.I.P., 'Everwood'

May 16, 2006, 07:31 PM | by Kristen Baldwin

Categories: Television

194116__ever_lEverwood fans, it's time to dig your sackcloth and ashes out of storage: It pains us greatly to report that the critically beloved drama (starring Treat Williams, pictured) will not be making the move to the new CW network in the fall, according to sources close to the show. Apparently The CW has no need for the best-written family drama on television. This injury to quality programming is made all the more heinous by the rumors that the insipid One Tree Hill, starring serial husband Chad Michael Murray, has been renewed. Oh, the vicissitudes of network television! It's enough to make you read a book. But wait, before you go that far, start the healing process right now by posting your thoughts about Everwood's all-too-early demise.

OK THIS IS SO NOT COOL U GIZE R REALLY ANNOYING I MEAN GOSH I WANNA KNOW ABOUT WHAT HAPPENDS like Efram and Amy havent even ot back together and what about bright and hannah and im so sad u people are making me and my mom cry and this is all so soon i mean gosh tears are pouring this is very depressing and i dont liek you people, you make me very mad and you make me want to say very mean things!! now me and my mom have to find a whole other enjoyable show not knowing about dealia's party or amey an efram and bright and hannah and you people better be reading this or else ill find u and force it apon you you very much bug me right now. hmmmm what else....... ahh im very sleepy but i have nothing else to say so im just gonna say keep everwood and your mean horrible people that are being very mean to me im very hurt you hurt my feelings a great deal and i cant forgive you and thats too bad cuz im a very amazing person that people love... so SUCKS FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer Tue, Jan 16, 2007 at 02:02 AM EST

I think what you are doing is so stupid, taking a show called Everwood off the air, like my mom said, you need someone else to call the shots cause u are not doin the best job.I could do better. What i don't get is that you are taking a simple PG show off the air and you keep movies that show strong adult content and young children can not watch them. The show Everwood can teach you lessons if you know what they are talking about,it is not only for teenagers, young kids,it can be for adults to . I'm 16 years old,i happen to love watching Everwood. My mom and i spend time together watching and talking about this show,we finally have something in common. This is a show for the entire family to watch. You are replacing it with Lincoln Heights,it will flop, cause not many people will watch a show about just kids.We don't like it.
PUT EVERWOOD BACK ON THE AIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer/Mary Tue, Jan 16, 2007 at 01:20 AM EST

From Mary: I thought Everwood was just a stupid teenager show, until my daughter(Summer)talked me into watching it, which as it turns out is its last season. Well I got hooked on the show, and we had it set to tape every time it came on, so we would not miss a show. I am 48 years old and I love watching Everwood. I don't like alot of shows with teenagers in it, never liked Dawson's Creek. But Everwood has something for all ages, with lessons for the young to learn, great characters, great story lines. To many times you people put junk crap on the air, but finally when something good comes along, you pull it. Your viewers would increase in numbers if another season occurred due to most people just started watching. I am a nurse, and at work it seems we all have just discovered that Everwood is worth watching, now its being pulled??. Maybe you need someone with more common sense to call the shots concerning what shows will be viewed.Send the scripts to me,I'll tell you the flops and tops!!!

somene Mon, Dec 18, 2006 at 06:53 PM EST

:( This was my favorite show!
I didn't start watching Everwood until the end of the 1st season on ABC Family. They are playing every episode on that channel, but I thought they were going to make a new season on WB!
I'm so mad they aren't! This is a great show & I hope they bring it back!!

greg Fri, Nov 10, 2006 at 11:31 PM EST

this just doesn't make any sense. I am 24, and a diehard football fan. yet i found myself really into everwood. (just trying to point out everwood's diverse fan base) what have these people (the cw) done?

What a terrible television tragedy.

Kinda like Dan Snyder and the Redskins- keep fixin things that aren’t broke

Lisa Fri, Nov 10, 2006 at 03:22 AM EST

I can not believe that Everwood has been cancelled .....this so sucks! Everwood has been my favorite show ever since the very first episode. Please bring it back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MILLER Thu, Nov 2, 2006 at 09:50 PM EST

Tara Tue, Oct 31, 2006 at 04:34 PM EST

How can they cancel Everwood? All of the best shows seem to be going down-hill (7th Heaven, Everwood, The OC). i just don't understand. The WB is going to have less viewers, without Everwood airing. I looked forward to that show every week, and then couldn't wait or it to air again. Now, they are saying it's not. I'm disturbed over this!!!

paulina Mon, Oct 16, 2006 at 06:13 PM EST

TOO BAD TOO BAD one of the best family shows ever.

Ursula McCoy Fri, Oct 13, 2006 at 11:43 AM EST

Everwood is the best written family drama on TV since the 1960's. It was a show depicting family values and has a very nurturing effect on all family members. With all the violent programs not suitable for most viewers, why remove a family oriented, uplifting and humane, intelligent program from the air? The writers are excellent and there isn't another TV program that even comes close to comparison. Whoever made the decision to cancel this show obviously doesn't know or understand what a wide range of viewers will be affected. It is truly a great loss and your network is making a huge mistake by upsetting viewers. It was a well written and well acted show. The University of Toronto used it as a credit program for their students. If a University sees value in this program and offers it as a course, one would think many made the decision on it's validity to mankind. Please rethink your decision to cancel. Perhaps someone without tunnel vision will see the value of keeping it on the air.

denise Tue, Oct 10, 2006 at 02:52 AM EST

Cancelling Everwood was a huge mistake. OTH? This has got to be a joke.

Teresa Tue, Oct 3, 2006 at 08:47 PM EST

I can not beleive that Everwood has been canceled. You look forward to a TV show this good and family orianted and then you just ditch it? What gives? I have never been so disappointed in a network in my life as I am of this one.

Adriana Sánchez Thu, Sep 28, 2006 at 10:05 AM EST

I can't believe they cancelled the show either, I whatch Everwood here in my country, Mexico, and I really enjoy it. Here I was waiting for the next season but nothing, there weren't sings of it. So that's when I find out that it may be cancelled, something that really sorry.
It was a really good drama show, with excellent actors, excellent stories for all (man, woman, young, old) and what I like the most of it, is that it makes (present because I hope it goes back to the air) makes you to think and reflex about certain situations that can apply to your life.
I hope that the network think it twice and bring it again for all that enjoy good and intelligent shows.
I also hope that all these comments work to make it happen, and happen fast =0)

Mary Hughes Tue, Sep 19, 2006 at 07:29 AM EST

It is absolutely rediculous that "Everwood" was cancelled. I refuse to watch CW because of that abhorrent decision. I planned on watching some of the other shows but I would rather not because of that decision. It was by far the best show the WB had on their station. "One tree Hill" actually makes me dumb by watching it. It is full of the worst actors only made worse by terrible writers who create unbelievable characters living out silly and very unbelievable situations. "Veronica Mars" is okay, but everytime I watch it, I change it before the end because I am not interested. Everwood was the best thing WB had and I think it may lead to CW's demise. For God sakes you keep 7th Heaven on the air for 11 years and yet cut off a good show after 4? It makes no sense and definately has infuriated millions of viewers. I hope others stand behind me and refuse to watch as well.

Jackie Mon, Sep 11, 2006 at 07:19 PM EST

I've watched Everwood religiously for all 4 seasons and own all 4 box set DVD's. I would be DEEPLY Infuriated if it were to be cancelled. I absolutly LOVE Everwood. Every episode. Every Minute! I can't even express the deep sorrow I would feel and the emptiness that would pour threw mt viens if this show were cancelled. PLEASE RECONSIDER. -Jackie (An extremely effected 17 year old)

Shane Fri, Aug 18, 2006 at 08:38 PM EST

Shocking, dissapointing and completely angry over the fact that the absolute best show I have ever been a fan of removed from the lineup of the new network, CW!

Everwood is what lead me to watch, and primarily tune into the WB Netowrk. Had never been a fan of the network, but found Everwood, which lead me to be a 4 night per week viewer, as I and my family fell in love with other shows like Gilmore Girls, Smallville, and One Tree Hill and 7th Heaven.

Although 7th Heaven was the longest running of these shows, we felt Everwood was by far the "Flagship" show of the network!

7th is just simply regurgitated, and needs to die a long awaited death. Maybe have the Pastor have an Affair (like most of them do at some point), and let the show go away with pride and dignity.

As for the others that have somehow made it to the new lineup, I am not sure there is anything that will keep us around watching this network.

Heck, we all know the ending of Smallville!! It is almost frightening to think about wasting an hour each week to watch a show that we already know ends with young Clark Kent wearing a way too tight Blue and Red Suit and Cape, with a really tasteless bulge in a certain place! haha!

Gilmore Girls... bad, bad, bad... Was ok for a couple of seasons, but just is not going anyplace we care to go with them. Boring, boring, boring!

Looks like our family will be hunting for a new network and lineup, as CW will be very har to stomach... especialy with having to constantly be subjected to the horrible America's Next Top Model advertisements!

Corey Thu, Jul 27, 2006 at 05:25 PM EST

Sorry to hear this crazy show go off the air. But my best friend loves it very much and had managed to shanghai my evenings for Everwood-fests or Everwood-a-thons. Now she is very disappointed by the lack of DVD follow-ups from WB. Where the heck is season two? or three or four? Not that watching Everwood gives me massive everwood, but my friend really likes watching it and her unfortunate predicament saddens me. If anyone out there has a tv recording of this show, please email me. Maybe we can arrange to burn the copies for my friend. I will pay ofcourse.

sincerely,
Not an Everwood-a-holic

Summer Wed, Jul 19, 2006 at 06:58 PM EST

I was so upset when I heard that Everwood was going off the air. this was such a wonderful show. Instead they take up the whole Friday with freaking wrestling. I mean, come on, who wants to watch a bunch of guys throw each other around and bleed all over each other. Gilmore Girls should have been deleted also. Also, whatever happened to the new show Related.

Britt Tue, Jul 11, 2006 at 06:12 PM EST

EVIL. If the execs at CW don't see the value in Everwood, I wonder if their network will even make it. It seems that before CW even hits the airwaves, they've made some potential viewers very unhappy.

nance Tue, Jun 13, 2006 at 07:18 PM EST

I very much doubt that this will have much impact, but maybe I'll at least feel better. I have read the posts and basically agree. I am far older than most of you and I watch 3 nights of TV...Two of them were WB..that will definitely change. I'm sure the universe will survive with out Everwood, but in losing this show we lose a show with strong family values, and a show that was willing to deal with issues that face us today, a show that I could actually sit down and discuss with my kids and yes grandkids. I think perhaps the real problem here in the inability of the "new" network to see the future...reality shows are not reality, shows like Everwood deal in reality. Perhaps the new leader of the new network, failed communications 101. Because they have not gotten the message.

Melissa Fri, Jun 9, 2006 at 10:34 PM EST

my god.. television just got this much worse. I like One Tree Hill but I love Chris Pratt ten times more. All my shows have been getting cancelled.. this sucks ass.. we need our good TV shows back... CW is gonna go straight down the tube.. maybe some other network should pick Everwood up and run new eps..

mel.

natalie Fri, Jun 9, 2006 at 08:09 PM EST

i luv Everwood, from the first show. If the CW were an actual person, I would hold it down and slap away, running it over with a semi-truck.

One tree Hill= scary

7th Heaven= scarier

Gilmore Girls= Horrifyingly Witty (No human speaks like that)

beth da Wed, Jun 7, 2006 at 04:07 PM EST

I know all good shows must come to an end, but it seems Everwood just didn't get a fair run. It was a well-written and well-acted show... and believe me that's a rarity. I find little solace in it's being bumped for 7th Heaven, a show that has told all of the stories it can. Nothing more to see there, but Everwood had real potential. Truth be told, I'm so bitter I won't even bother to watch CW. The least they could've done was given it 13 episodes in case some of the other crap they've got in store doesn't work out.

stephanie Wed, Jun 7, 2006 at 02:19 AM EST

save everwood and i love it PLEASE KEEP IT ON everwood

Daniel Garcia Wed, Jun 7, 2006 at 01:55 AM EST

GO THE HELL CW.!!!!!!!!!!!! oh my god, everwood it was getting better and better every season, i think the CW doesnt´t like series with some values!!!IS THE BEST FAMILY DRAMA ON TELEVISION MOROONNNSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! One tree hill..sucksss!!! ewwe! lame show.

Bruce Tue, Jun 6, 2006 at 09:58 PM EST

I think that you guys made a big mistake but maybe another station well pick up Everwood a station that is better than the cw or ew whatever you want to call it I call it crap station.
But if you guys would put Everwood on like before 7th heaven then maybe that well change the name of you guys.

Amanda Tue, Jun 6, 2006 at 02:31 PM EST

I was extremely upset to hear Everwood was ending, and if anyone can remember back 3 weeks ago when they showed previews for the upcoming shows it only said SEASON FINALE, But all of the sudden last weeks episode said "Stay tuned for scenes for the SERIES FINALE of Everwood" I was floored. This has been like my own second family and I'm appauled. I can't imagine how the actors feel :(

Karen Tue, Jun 6, 2006 at 08:17 AM EST

I watched the series finale and am not satified! Are we really suppose to believe that everyone lives happily ever after . . . and what ever happened to Madison? I didn't see her, yet she was on the preview! No lose ends were taken care of, there are still many stories to be told for these characters! NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX are crazy not to pick-up this show! I, like most fans, want more and am not ready to say goodbye!

Candy Tue, Jun 6, 2006 at 07:12 AM EST

I can't believe this show is being dropped. What is wrong with the TV Exec? They keep some of the stupid shows and get rid of the one family drama left out there. I will not be watching any shoes on this channel and I hope they belly up soon.

donna c Mon, Jun 5, 2006 at 09:40 PM EST

I just finished watching the series finale of Everwood; what a stellar ending to a fantastic show. Treat Williams and the whole cast are superb. There were many storylines that could continue on if another station would pick up this wonderful series. I am sick that it has been cancelled. It's a shame that Tyra and Beauty and Geek are considered better quality television. By the way, who is running the CW?

Alisha Spivey Mon, Jun 5, 2006 at 08:03 PM EST

I just think that the network execs. should be aware that after Everwood airs its final episode on 6/05/06, I am boycotting the new "CW" network and I will not be tuning in for any of your other programs, even though I once was a regular viewer. Everwood was one of the few shows that remained that actually had a plot and writing that wasn't absolutely deplorable. I am a 25 yr old veterinary student with VERY limited time outside of school, but I ALWAYS found a way to sit down on Sunday, then Monday nights when Everwood was moved in order to watch. I hope that you realize what a stupid move it was cancelling this show and maybe now you will be aware of the number of viewers you will be losing.

Sharon Kennedy Mon, Jun 5, 2006 at 09:43 AM EST

Please keep Everwood! I am hopeing one of the major stations will pick it up. Come on ABC, NBC, or CBS. This is a quality show with great actors, fantastic stories and dedicated fans. Any television station would have an instant hit if they picked the show up.

A concerned viewer,

Sharrose

Kurt Brown Thu, Jun 1, 2006 at 12:15 AM EST

This is the best written show on television period, imo. I don't what much tv, but this is the one show my family sits down together to watch every week. You people don't know what your doing. My familiy will be boycotting the network, until Everwood returns.

Sharron Wed, May 31, 2006 at 05:17 PM EST

Both my mother and I, and our friends throughout the Kansas City metro area, are very upset about the cancellation of Everwood. This is a show that has dealt with the hard issues and done so admirably - not shirking by taking easy outs when the going got tough for its stars. Seventh Heaven is a wonderful program, but it did have a long life and I feel Everwood deserves just such an opportunity. As a college history professor, I cannot emphasize enough the value of a program that dealt with the issues of so many individuals - young and old - today. Please re-consider.

Pat M. Tue, May 30, 2006 at 11:00 PM EST

The cancellation of Everwood is simply a very poor move on the part of CW. It certainly isn't going to make me watch new programming to only expect good series to get cancelled based on prior programming stupidity.

Marie Shogren Tue, May 30, 2006 at 07:48 PM EST

My daughter text messaged me last week and told me Everwood was cancelled. I figured there must be some mistake. Like someone said, this will give me more time to read since I will not be watching the new CW since Everwood has been cancelled. I can't be a part of it. This was my favorite show on TV. Unbelievable.

Karen again Tue, May 30, 2006 at 02:03 PM EST

How can you cancel EVERWOOD to bring back show like 7th Heaven. 7th Heaven has run it's course, it had a good, LONG life, it said it's goodbye's, even had a countdown to GOODBYE . . . let it R.I.P. - NOT EVERWOOD! There has to be a revolt here . . . how dirty can the network get? How dare they inform loyal EVERWOOD viewers that next week will be the last episode! It’s like a sudden death – and we are shocked! We are not ready to say goodbye! Give EVERWOOD a consistent time slot and it's viewers will multiply 10-fold! Don't kill off these wonderful characters - we love them and are not ready to let them go!

FYI, the only reason 7th Heaven had anything in the form of ratings, during it's past season, is because EVERWOOD fan's were tuning in early to catch every second of EVERWOOD! We want this show back - this was real dirty pool! A protest is in order – EVERWOOD deserves a new life!

Carol W Tue, May 30, 2006 at 02:00 PM EST

Please reconsider and don't cancel Everwood. I have been watching this show since the beginning. I too cried when they said next week would be the series finale. This is the best written and emotionally moving show on television. I will not nor will my family watch another CW/WB show if they cancel Everwood. They have a lot of garbage shows they can cancel instead the best family drama show on television. Is there a way another network would pick this show up? Please reconsider!!!

Karen Tue, May 30, 2006 at 12:53 PM EST

I cannot believe it! How could they cancel a wonderful show like EVERWOOD. It is my favorite show hands down! What upsets me more is it's cancellation wasn't even due to low ratings - it was politics and poor management! I can tell you, no matter how many time changes the show went through, I made it a priority to always find it - just like all the other loyal fans!! I am devastated, shocked and pray for EVERWOOD's resurrection.

Dave Tue, May 30, 2006 at 11:37 AM EST

Like so many I am so very disappointed Everwood was a great show for TV I guess to good! I don't have HBO but I would take HBO if Everwood found it's way there and the show format remained unchanged. Just look at the programing on the UPN what do you expect !
Just one more reason to turn the TV OFF !

Betty Tue, May 30, 2006 at 10:32 AM EST

I have watched Everwood since it started and have found it to be a nice change from most of the shows on TV. Why do they networks stop good shows and keep ones that have half the watcher appeal and less then 1/2 the values. I find this hard to understand.

Carol Tue, May 30, 2006 at 06:32 AM EST

I always wait for Mon. & Tues. nights on TV because 7th Heaven, Everwood & Gilmore Girls are on the air. What great shows to watch. Otherwise, trash TV rules & there are no good programs around. Sorry management can't do a better job on selecting a new season of programs.
Carol

Chris Tue, May 30, 2006 at 01:44 AM EST

I read Sophie's post and I agree, I was crying too once I realized next week is slated as the series finale for Everwood. I have been tuning in every week for four years since episode one. I sure hope this announcement is hype, a way to stir something up,in the end I hope we will get to continue to follow this brilliantly written show. There is too much bad TV these days, reality TV is getting too far out of hand and WWF Smackdown?!? Come on! I guess TV executives have finally tossed their hands up in the air and given in to the moronic culture that has run rampant in this country. Please do not take away TV for discerning, intelligent viewers!

I was so disappointed when I found out tonight that next weeks episode was the Series Finale. I look forward to watching Everwood every week. I can't believe it was cancelled because of low ratings. In my mind it is one of the best shows on tv right now.

Karen Mon, May 29, 2006 at 10:57 PM EST

I always thought shows were renewed if they were good so why would you not renew Everwood. It is the best show that has air in a long time.I enjoy this show, it is refreshing to be able to watch something that makes sense. It is like a real family.I hope you change your mind.Look at all the feedback, that has to mean something.

hope Mon, May 29, 2006 at 09:57 PM EST

this pisses me off sooo much! i cant believe they are canceling everwood to keep 7th heaven! 10 seasons was enough. i liked 7th heaven but it was time to go. i have no reason for wb or whatever the hell its going to be called now!

SadSack Mon, May 29, 2006 at 09:10 PM EST

With all the violence in this world, watching Everwood gives all a reminder that having family and friends makes the journey worthwhile and if one doesn't have either, then there was always EVERWOOD, which is the next, best thing. Same on EW!!!!!!!! Shows like EVERWOOD is what separates this network from others!!!!! Again, shame, shame, shame!!!!!!!

Melanie Mon, May 29, 2006 at 09:08 PM EST

Please keep EVERWOOD! It is the best series on TV. The writing is great and the story lines are excellent. The actors are among the best. Please change your mind. There are many fans of the show out here and we want to KEEP EVERWOOD!

Sarah Mon, May 29, 2006 at 09:07 PM EST

It will be a shame if Everwood is not picked up by some station. Hopefully, someone will realize what they are letting go. It is a great family show with meaningful characters.

Deanna Mon, May 29, 2006 at 07:23 PM EST

What a shame- Everwood is one of the best dramas on television- I can't believe we won't be able to find out how all the characters end up next year.. Everyone I now watches it- the characters, the writing, the story lines are superb- I have gotten so involved in their lives-- it just can't go away!!!! Please- pleae keep it.

Kathy Mon, May 29, 2006 at 10:53 AM EST

What is wrong with CW and for that matter most of the networks? You finally get a quality family friendly program with great actors portraying realistic likable characters and you do nothing to support or advertise it which ultimately leads to it's demise. I love everything about "Everwood" Please someone do something to keep it on! Why are the crumby, artless, unoriginal programs picked up. Who wants to see yet another insipid story about idiotic vapid characters jumping in bed with each other??? What brillant story lines....right! We need "Everwood" and all that's wonderful about it!!!! I'm very sad!

Jan Miller Mon, May 29, 2006 at 09:12 AM EST

I can't believe these guys are keeping 7th Heaven and dumping Everwood...Have they lost their minds? If Gilmore Girls is over after this season there is no reason for me to continue with this network.

Louvonzelle Sun, May 28, 2006 at 06:08 PM EST

I have watched Everwood since the beginning; I love it. There are other shows on Monday night that I usually watch, so I record one and watch Everwood. I just love Efrim. I wish there was something we could do to keep it on! Oh well, all the good family shows always end up in the trash.

angela Sat, May 27, 2006 at 09:00 PM EST

This is bull crap they renewed the most unneeded shows and cancelled the only show that demonstrates how families really are. Mabey the stars didnt have enough drama in thier personal lives to keep the show going. This is obsurd, they need to put this show back on or risk loosing a whole lot of viewers. If everone that watched everwood did not watch the CW mabey they would see that that views do have some say on what is on the channel. Without the views there would be no CW.

Ashley Sat, May 27, 2006 at 04:45 PM EST

Everwood is one of the only shows that I watch on TV. I now have no reason to watch the CW network. At least I have more time for homework now.

Christina Fri, May 26, 2006 at 08:23 PM EST

THIS IS TURLLY A VERY BAD THING THAT THEY ARE DOING I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THIS SHOW SINCE IT HAS STARTED AND THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO TAKE ONE OF THE BEST TEEN SHOWS OFF THE AIR BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO MAKE ROOM FOR SOME REPEAT. LEAVE EVERWOOD ALONE AND DONT TOUCH IT!!!!!!!!!!

jen Fri, May 26, 2006 at 03:39 PM EST

keep Everwood! You need to fire the person that decided to cancle the show. Ihope another network picks it up and all the fans give the rateings to the network that picks up everwood and that the CW goes under because you have poor skills when you cancle such a great show with great rateings

barbara Fri, May 26, 2006 at 03:04 PM EST

no everwood? no gregory smith? no way!!!! that's just wrong. someone step in and fix this mistake.... pleeeeze.

Allison Thu, May 25, 2006 at 01:41 PM EST

Although I have been loyal to 7th Heaven since the first episode, it was truly time to let it go. The last couple of years haven't been all that good and only two of my family have been able to hang in there. Everwood, though, was great for the whole family and will be a true loss. It was one show that could span the ages and bring us together as a family for some laughs and sometimes some tears. I can only hope that CW will realize the mistake and bring this show back in the fall.

Eleanore Grefe Thu, May 25, 2006 at 09:04 AM EST

How can you take Everwood off and restore 7th Heaven when the latter was cancelled for three months advance warning.
Everwood is the best family show to be on TV in the past year and has every right to continue to provide quality entertainment to nmillions of us that DO watch faithfully. We are devastated and hope someone will change their minds....

dantel Wed, May 24, 2006 at 09:51 PM EST

I will boycott CW if Everwood is cancelled. We all should stand up and boycott it. Absolute BS. No respect should be granted to TV execs who pull this stuff. Unbelievable. SAVE EVERWOOD!! [or i will dieeeeee!]

Mike Wed, May 24, 2006 at 06:06 PM EST

I never usually watch shows like this, but my girlfriend made me watch Everwood one Monday night and I have to admit that I really enjoy it. I cannot believe they aren't bringing the show back. Plus, what the hell is going on with 7th Heaven? That shows sucks. It was gone and came back again? You cannot be serious. Dump that and put Everwood back on. That show needs to be on for 10 years and those years will be worth watching, unlike the 10 years of 7th Heaven. Keep Everwood!!

Nicole Wed, May 24, 2006 at 06:02 PM EST

I hope the new CW network flops. Their choices of programming and show cancelations are so ridiculous. Everwood NEEDS to stay! I cannot believe Charmed is gone too. Merging these two completely opposite networks was a big mistake that was only done for a profit and at the expense of the viewers who care about quailtity programing . I'm not planning on turning in for a single thing on this new station. Bring back Everwood!!!

Alison Wed, May 24, 2006 at 05:14 PM EST

Oh come on! Are you serious?! What is going on with TV, not just CW, but all the channels? I'm about to have nothing left to watch! Maybe that's the plan. Everyone is always saying how fat Americans are, maybe by only keeping shows on that suck they are trying to force couch potatoes into getting off theirs butts and doing something. Anyway, that sucks, and is 7th heaven really coming back? Give me friggin' break!

Mike Wed, May 24, 2006 at 05:12 PM EST

They are basing their money-making ability on 7th Heaven's FINAL EPISODES. This is a huge mistake. Even I watched the final episode of 7th Heaven (not that you could miss it... they re-ran it like 10 times). I hate that show. Horrible acting, horrible plot, horrible characters, and a complete lack of reality.

BRING EVERWOOD BACK.

Rick Tue, May 23, 2006 at 09:37 PM EST

I cant believe how stuipid some execs are. People hate 7th heaven its a lame show with two retard twin brothers...bring everwood back...

Jane Tue, May 23, 2006 at 06:22 PM EST

Put Everwood back on. This is one of the few shows worth watching. Seventh Heaven is over and let it stay over. There are many story lines that can be explored on Everwood and we want to see them all. You have good acting and good story lines. You had better rethink this decision. I think you will find that your viewership will be dropping off as we have seen all of the other shows that we care to see.

Jessica Tue, May 23, 2006 at 11:53 AM EST

Talk about a slap in the face. Cancelling Everwood only to bring back a show (7th Heaven) that they already ended? What a joke. I'm honestly shocked. Everwood still has so many more stories to tell, and while I did enjoy 7th Heaven, after about the 5th season they basically just started re-telling the same stories using different characters. This is even sadder than when ABC Family cancelled "Higher Ground."

Any hope of getting seasons 2, 3, and 4 on DVD? I'd even order it if it was only availible on an order-by-order basis (therefore making it more expensive).

lou Mon, May 22, 2006 at 10:12 PM EST

Ok heres the deal...7th heaven was good for like the 1st 5 seasons and the next 5 people watched out of loyalty! They make a big deal "the count down to goodbye" thing and then bring it back! Which utimatly gives EVERWOOD the boot! Thats crap! Everwood was a well acted inspiring show. thats crazy! those stupid twins cant even make complete sentences without out the other one finishing the sentence!!! WHAT KIDS DO THAT!!!!! And all you people who keep bashing One Tree Hill...its not there fault...The CW network was considering EW for 7th heavens time slot and would have had it...but they decided to bring 7th heaven back and give it EW time slot cause it got good series final ratings!!!! Thats ONLY cause people were earger to see how 7th heaven would finally end...and of course the fans watching out of loyalty!!! EVERWOOD SO DOESNT DESERVE THIS!!!! Everyone should go sign the online petition and mail letters...cause if STUPID 7th heaven can be cancelled then renewed then so can everwood!!!! SO everyone wrtie letters and sign petitions to save EW and watch the final so that it'll have amazing ratings and maybe they'll give it another chance or another BETTER network will pick it up. Everwood ratings would have been better if the WB didnt leave EW on hiatus while it played beauty and the freaking geek..which once again is another lame show!!!!! So CW I probably will still watch your network but I can definetly say 7th will crash and burn!!!!! SO EVERYONE SAVE EVERWOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LLS Mon, May 22, 2006 at 09:00 PM EST

While I will not boycott the CW (after all, it's how home to both the Gilmore Girls AND Veronica Mars), I'm INCREDIBLY disappointed by the decision to cancel Everwood. I hope they are at least considerate enough to tie up the storylines in a meaningful way, or another network picks it up. I'm not yet convinced the execs at CW have it right.

Adnor Mon, May 22, 2006 at 02:44 PM EST

I sympathize with all those who mourn the loss of Everwood, especially when for some strange reason CW decided to keep 7th Heaven (its like the thing that will never die, no matter how many ways you try to kill it - or how many ways it kills itself). Nonetheless, i think the CW fall schedule isn't too bad.

Mary-Anne Mon, May 22, 2006 at 11:31 AM EST

Is there any hope that the producers will find a spot for Everwood on another network? I sure hope so!!! It is a fine, engaging program that appeals to all ages.

Beth Sat, May 20, 2006 at 10:50 PM EST

Holly Sat, May 20, 2006 at 07:51 AM EST

First of all let me say, YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! on 7th Heavens 11th season that is so awesome. Next, let me say someone else please pickup on Everwood, that show is not ready to be laid to rest.

Sally Fri, May 19, 2006 at 09:24 PM EST

I was so excited to learn that they were FINALLY cancelling 7th Heaven! Talk about a show that annoyingly rams a point down your throat!! And now that it's returning, I'm thoroughly disgusted with the CW. Everwood would have been by FAR the better choice here. I'm sure I'll still watch the CW, because I do enjoy the simple entertainment those shows have to offer. I was happy to see the return of OTH...that cliff hanger definetely warranted a return. Go OTH!!! Seriously, though swap 7th Heaven for Everwood though. That's a no-brainer!

Ann Marie Fri, May 19, 2006 at 07:52 PM EST

I have been depressed since the day before yesterday about this. Is there any way we can set something up to save this show and have it appear somewhere else? This is worse than the cancellation last year of American Dreams another show that actually meant something.

jntexas Fri, May 19, 2006 at 03:31 PM EST

I am hoping another network will pick up this wonderful show. There are so many networks, just because one stupid network doesnt know how to pick shows, another network could benefit. I am tired of getting into a show just to have it gone while other shows that seem to cater to morons go on and on. The CW does not seem to be getting off to a good start as far as good will to the fans. Oh well... at least there are many channels to choose from.

Amber Fri, May 19, 2006 at 07:32 AM EST

...copied from my blog

A perpetual feeling of gloom saturates my mood today.

Today is the day the decision is made, but I already know. The truth is enough to send a wave of nausea washing over me while my insides simmer with anger.

In a sea of endless television programs that flourish or die prematurely lies a gem of a television program – Everwood. For those of you who read my blog regularly, you know that I sometimes abandon my dating topic to sing the praises of what I believe is the best show on television. With a superb cast, stellar writers, and a hometown feel, Everwood centers around the story of Dr. Andy Brown, world renowned surgeon, who moves his family from busy New York city to the small town of Everwood, Colorado after his wife dies in an accident. The core of the Everwood storyline is Dr. Brown’s struggle to get to know his teenage son and young daughter, but the show evolved into so much more.

I won’t use this blog as another means of singing Everwood’s praises because, frankly, I don’t have the energy.

Anyone who is a fan of shows on the WB or UPN probably knows about the upcoming merger of the two networks. The union of the two channels, the CW, means that the network will lose half of their time slots.

I’m pissed off… pissed off that Everwood was not given its fair shot this season. The same show that, a couple of years ago, was nominated for an Emmy, was cruelly treated by the WB this year when it was put on a few month hiatus without any explanation. Many fans thought the show was already cancelled. When it finally popped up again, without warning, it had been after a 15 week lapse. And they wonder why the ratings are lower this year? Couple that with the fact that it spent half its season paired against CSI and I don’t really need to explain this issue further.

Although the official word on which shows will be renewed will not be announced until later this afternoon, word has already hit the presses. Everwood didn’t make the cut. The fact that I actually penned a letter and typed an email to the network and signed a petition to save the show is something I will readily admit. Unfortunately, the pleas of angry fans that rallied to save Everwood fell on deaf ears.

And let me rant just a bit here…. Can you believe that “Beauty and the Geek” got renewed? That load of crap gets renewed over a quality show?

And here is the clincher. Anybody here watched 7th Heaven? You know the cheesy show about the Camden family? Every storyline is sugar coated and they always end up living happily ever after? Well, I admit, I’m sortof a closet watcher of the show, probably because it always comes on right before Everwood.

The show has been on for 10 seasons. Finally, it announces it’s the final season. “Countdown to goodbye” they keep advertising. I watched the final episode. Then guess what? I find out yesterday that the show has miraculously risen from the dead for an unprecedented 11th season. Can you believe it?
The most aggravating part of this is that the season finale was ludicrous. Lucy announced she was pregnant with twins. Then her brother announces that his wife is pregnant with twins. Then her other brother announces his wife is pregnant with twins.

The only solace I find is in comforting myself by the fact of knowing that the idiots are going to have to play out this ridiculous storyline about three sets of twins. So much for their corny, happily-ever-after.

So, I guess it’s really Everwood’s swan song… countdown to goodbye.

I realize that there aren’t many Everwood fans out there, but if there are, I’d love for you to speak up today. I’m looking for a kindred spirit. LOL!!!

For those of you wondering how you’ll survive without finding out if Ephram and Amy have their happily ever after or if Bright and Hannah can forgive, forget, and move on or if Dr. Brown and Nina will ever hook up – you may still get your answers.

Everwood producer, Rina Mimoun assured fans that they are working on two alternate endings – a season finale and a series finale. She assured Everwood fans that they will tie up loose ends with the storylines and not disappoint the fans. “We’d never leave without a proper goodbye,” She promises.

I don’t want to say goodbye .

???Wasn't 7th Heaven final season this year??? Why is that pick up again. Instead of Everwood. Everwood will be extremely missed by me. :( CW do you know what your doing???

Gary Thu, May 18, 2006 at 10:48 PM EST

If the CW does not pick up Everwood, that would absolutely suck, considering the show has ages like fine wine. It only gets better. But absence from the fall schedule may not be the death knell. The show could come back in the spring, as it did this year. But I've gotta say something to all you One Tree Hill bashers--that show is awesome! It has melodrama--but so does every other good dramatic show. The situations are complicated; the stories are believable and timely, and the acting has gotten better. And the casting is awesome. The season finale, too, demands a come back.

Chris McVetta Thu, May 18, 2006 at 04:31 PM EST

"Everwood" is going, going, gone, but Chad Michael Murray gets to stay-?

Chris goes to the "one tree" up on "One Tree Hill" and hangs himself...

Does anyone know of a campaign to bring Everwood back. I don't want to give up hope on one of the only quality shows on television. I remember a campaign working to resurrect Party of Five - its worth a try.

kelley Thu, May 18, 2006 at 04:04 PM EST

I think that there will be alot of good shows on this network, I'm mainly referring to shows such as Supernatural, Smallville and America's Next Top Model, Everybody Hates Chris, Girlfriends. Everything else sucks!

Sara Thu, May 18, 2006 at 04:36 AM EST

I'm sorry about Everwood but One Tree Hill is really goooood. A lot of people I know r in love with this show. All the fans of OTH got together to try and save the show. It was successful we won the SOS Campagin!! We deserved to survive onto the CW Network. Yes, its really soap opear like but the storylines r very touching. After u watch the first episode u will be addicted. I was skeptical @ first bc I didn't like teen shows but after watching the first season I got sucked in. This is a show of course its going to be all fake and sappy but it makes u all happy about the love on the show. It gets u angry because of the backstabbing but that only means the show has connected wid you. Who cares? About Chad's love life it has nothing to do with show being so great. The show connects with me sooo well that I was of the fans that worked hard to try and save it. I understand about everwood but don't be hating on the show until u watch the first season!!! I must admit 7th heaven should have been canceled to save everwood. U should be blaming them.

Nick Wed, May 17, 2006 at 11:36 PM EST

Hey... If they can un-cancel 7th heaven, why can't they just un-do the cw... and go back to the wb, and upn and just leave things alone.... its a win-win situation, put all the suck ass shows back on UPN and keep the rockin shows that everyone loves to watch on The WB. CW stands for can't work.

Christie Wed, May 17, 2006 at 09:09 PM EST

Oh Noooooooo!!! I love Everwood. I especially liked the story line with the kid who wanted to get into Julliard this season. If they had to cancelsomething they should have gotten rid of crappy reality shows, America's next Top Model and Beauty and the Geek. But......I also love OTH, Smallville, Seventh Heaven, and, my absolute favorite, Veronica Mars(please dont argue that its predictable, because if you saw the season finale you would know its definitely not). So don't bash other TV shows. You can have taste, and still watch the occasionally trashy but entertaining teen soap, like OTH.

Anthony Wed, May 17, 2006 at 03:43 PM EST

Well, all I've watched lately on the WB has been Everwood and Reba, and they're both gone. I don't care for 7th Heaven and One Tree Hill, but I won't hate b/c I don't like when people hate on Girlfriends and the like, so I'll just hope to be appeased by whatever finale the producers say they had put together just in case.

anna Wed, May 17, 2006 at 03:29 PM EST

this sucks Everwood is my seond favorite show after one tree hill. i don't understand how they could uncancel the dumb 7th heaven instead of renewing everwood. that is unfair. however i'm glad they renewed one tree hill. i love that show

cbc Wed, May 17, 2006 at 02:36 PM EST

I don't think I would ever be jealous of some one who liked One Tree Hill. I don't envy people with bad taste.

Anthony Johnson Wed, May 17, 2006 at 02:14 PM EST

I HATE TO BE THE ONE TO SAY IT.

everyone who says they're not watching CW b/c stupid Everwood is not airing is a liar. Yo will be tuning in as the rest of us will. It's a shame that your arguing. It's gone so get over it. I hate to make you feel down, but if you really loved the show you would've voted for it on E!'s S.o.S. (Saving Our Shows) campaign.

One tree Hill is alive because it is a fan-favorite and you all are jealous and 7th heavn (?) I can't explain that, but the point is. You will be watching the CW so don't lie.

Geoffrey Wed, May 17, 2006 at 02:06 PM EST

What's the CW gonna do when half of the new tripe they're trotting out for this fall is cancelled and forgotten by Thanksgiving? Then they'll wish they had never cancelled Everwood. This is a travesty.

Amy Wed, May 17, 2006 at 01:53 PM EST

I am so upset to hear this. Everwood is the best show on television and does not deserve this. I don't understand why they would cancel and wonderfully written and acted show with good ratings over shows with bad ratings and bad acting and storylines. It makes absolutly no sense, and i am very unhappy with the CW's decision. They made a BIG mistake!

Poochie Wed, May 17, 2006 at 12:15 PM EST

For the last three to four episodes, Everwoods ratings have been higher than OTH, so why do they get a pass???

Ashley Wed, May 17, 2006 at 12:15 PM EST

Oh no, no no no no. This can not be happening.

Michelle Wed, May 17, 2006 at 11:57 AM EST

As much as it pains me to admit it, it's not so much the network's fault for not picking it up as it is the general TV public's fault for not watching an intelligent and beautifully crafted show like 'Everwood'.

It's too bad, but it seems we live in a society where the majority of people would rather watch nobodies become 'American Idols' than sit down and actually learn something from television. As sappy as it may sound, I can't tell you how many life lessons I learned from 'Everwood'. It was clever and funny and different and brilliant. I'm going to miss it.

BUT -- it IS the network's fault for not releasing any other 'Everwood' seasons on DVD. Where's season 2? Come on!
