Download This: Four Day Hombre

The video for Four Day Hombre's "The First Word is the Hardest," the second single off their new album Experiment in Living (out March 13 in the U.K., but you can order it on Amazon.com), goes back to the days when videos actually told stories.  A woman agrees to give an old man a ride after he falls from the sky and on to the hood of HER CAR! As they speed away from an unnamed "villain," the old man (was it her father?) turns into a young man (her boyfriend?) and later into a young boy (her son?). Whispery vocals (think Chris Martin-esque), a slowly building melody, and the repeated lyric "I cannot help you" make this driving piece of Brit- rock memorable. Also take a listen to their "smash-your-head-into-the-wall" brilliant cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill."

Four Day Hombre are one of the best bands coming out of our region at the moment. Saw them recently and they have probably the best quality live sound I've ever heard from a band at their kind of stage.

Good luck to them. 1000 Bulbs is amazing.

Soulful deviance...

I love the chilling reality of their live gigs. America should embrace them and click on to their homepage to pay tribute where it is due www.fdh.com.. Only one thing, we will not let them go easily, regular installments of gigs around the UK required! Check out my personal favourite 'The Firts Word is the Hardest' which was introduced to me back in 2003, piercing elegance with a genious of drums...

These guys are awesome. I love their sound. Can't wait until they come to the US, especially NY.

Hellllll Yessss.
They are great guys, great music and a spangly debut album out in the UK on Monday!!
What a great band!
"Tooth by Tooth I will build a smile!" - a line from the fantastic '1000 Bulbs' - one of the best songs I've heard in a while.

They want to come to the states. Could be the next big thing from across the pond. Join their mailing list! Download free mp3s! This band is great and has loads of talent. Personality to boot!

Adele Thu, Mar 9, 2006 at 01:25 PM EST
