Bettie Page speaks!

94115__bettie_lBettie Page is almost as renowned for her decades of seclusion as for her risque 1950s pinup photos (like the one at near left). But now, the 82-year-old legend has resurfaced. Talking to the Los Angeles Times, she comments briefly on her enduring popularity, including the impending April release of the biopic The Notorious Bettie Page, starring Gretchen Mol (far left). Her lone beef: Why ''Notorious''? She seems to be unashamed of anything she's done in a life that's ranged from teaching school to posing for nude and fetish photos to becoming a born-again crusader for Billy Graham to being institutionalized after attacking her landlady with a knife. All she asks now is not to be photographed. ''I want to be remembered as I was when I was young and in my golden times,'' she says. ''I want to be remembered as a woman who changed people's perspectives concerning nudity in its natural form.'' Okay, Bettie, will do.

I wish nothing but the best of luck to our beloved Miss Bettie Page in her endevour of claiming what is owed to her. If she wants everything but to be photographed now I think she is right in every way!

I just attended the US premiere of the film at SXSW. I thought it was quite good, and Gretchen Mol did a great job in the part. Hopefully it will make a splash come April.

Bettie could change the perspective of aging too, if she'd agree to be photographed.

Wow! Who knew that Gretchen Mol would look THAT good as Bettie Page? I wouldn't have considered a blonde for the role.
I hope this is a star-making role for her!

I hope she got some money for the movie, so many people have made money from the image she created, if there was any justice she should be rich now. I can't wait for the movie, I love Marilyn, Rita, and the rest of the famous pinups, but none of them had anything on Bettie Page.
