'Grey's Anatomy' Super Bowl ep reruns tonight!

How much does Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes love her show's fans? Not only does she apparently read every post on the Grey Matter blog, but she also pushed ABC to rerun Sunday's ''Code Black'' post-Super Bowl episode because many DVRs and Tivos failed to record the full hour when the game ran past its scheduled time.

''I heard your screams of rage and pain all the way over at my house. Dudes, my Tivo didn’t catch the whole thing either,'' Rhimes wrote. Apparently, ABC listened, as it's re-airing the episode tonight from 9:30-11 p.m. (Of course, I'm sure network brass considered the fact that Grey's will probably pull in more viewers than the regularly scheduled Primetime Live, too.)

Will you choose Grey's tonight over ER and Without a Trace? Or was one viewing of Christina Ricci with her hand in a patient's bomb-packed wound enough?

I am not impressed to be quite honest with you. It lost it's essence...to what the story line was about and what made it was to be exemplified in the first place...you made no distinctive line what is happening between Derek and Meredith, and obviously Dempsey's wife has made a difference in what she wants from her husband against what is happening in the story line. She is intimated by the women on screen and her place in his world..Understanding that must be a hard place to be, and I don't know if I could do it...but that's the lifes challenge to be in love with a symbol. It's lost it's lack of luster and you are loosing audience so this must be a hard challenge to overcome. Dempsey being your leading role, and the weight on him so that women can fantasize each week has got to be a hard role to follow. I don't envy him...a daughter, a wife to appease and a audience that balances his career...What he has struggled for his whole life..acclaim! Here it is you choose! We keep watching because we live vicarously through Derek and Meredith, we long to be free in sexuality that they teach us, we long for a reason to be wanted and to feel wanted...anyway we have to do it we will find a way. Dempsey lost the golden globe award because the subject matter not because of his acting! Hugh Laurie is not a better actor he had a better subject matter. No prisoners were taken..it was safe..Derek doesn't live safe...he lives by his heart..so many of us live that way, that doesn't mean we want it thrown in our face..honesty is not necessarily the best policly...I would love for Dempsey to be himself and for you to get in touch with that...he loves his wife..well let him show that in his work..It will be your shows winning1

Are you planning to rerun last Sunday's episode of Grey's Anatomy this week sometime?

Julie Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 04:41 PM EST

What are you thinking? Grey's Anatomy is one of those shows where the main character whines and complains about her love life! Don't you think that is annnoying? Oh by the way ER is sooooooooooooooooo much better!

It's not a surprise that most sporting events usually run past the time they are scheduled to finsih. So while I was watching The L word, I had ABC as my PIP. As soon as I saw the show start, paused L word, switched and created a manual recording for Grey's, scheduled to end 1 hr and 5 min after it came on.

Hooray for DVR!

Hell, yeah! Grey's Anatomy!

What kind of stupid idiot doesn't know that a football game will run late and set the DVR accordingly? Mike & Gina you are right on...

I was able to watch the first run of the show because i dont have TIVO and i kept making sure i tuned in to watch the show (because i wasnt watching the superbowl), but sure ill watch again tonight, the show was riveting, and i always seem to miss something in the initial run of a show, as i am always online typing to friends and posting stuff on mypsace lol, tonight i tie up all the loose ends! THANKS Shonda

Gina Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 02:16 PM EST

I totally agree Mike...if you are truly a Grey's fan then you would have set your DVR or TiVo to record the news or whatever show was on after Grey's. I was able to watch the show in its entirety that night.

I guess smart people get rewarded for thinking about these things ahead of time

The Super Bowl has run long for 40 years in a row now. If people were too STUPID to record past the scheduled time for Grey's on Sunday, then they don't deserve to see it now! How is it possible that so many people were too DUMB to record more than just that scheduled hour? IDIOTS!

SeattleGuy Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 12:42 PM EST

What are you talking about Kevin? They showed the "Code Black" episode in Seattle, only it was on at 10 instead of right after the post-game show.

Scott Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 11:11 AM EST

This has totally made my day because I was so mad I missed the second half. Just goes to show how great the creator of this show is that she is so in tune with the show's fans. And thank god I have two Tivos so I still don't have to miss The Office.

Josh Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 11:04 AM EST

TV Guide's online listings say Grey is actually 9:30-10:30 (8:30 to 9:30 central), with a shortened half-hour Primetime after.

karen timkova Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 10:49 AM EST

oh, thank goodness. it's my guiltiest pleasure, and i missed it sunday (obviously it's not so much of a pleasure, if i missed it at all), but i had other things going on.

Kristin Marie Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 10:37 AM EST

Of course! And this is such a fantastic example of how wonderful writing and some really thoughtful people can make a good television show just plain amazing.

Sarah Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 10:36 AM EST

I was wondering the same thing- why an hour and a half long? It only ran for an hour the first time around (luckily I had recorded an extra hour on my TiVO so I didn't miss the whole thing) I'm not sure I'll skip The Office at 9:30 just to catch an extra half hour of commercials!

Kyle Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 10:31 AM EST

I'll be watching it for the second time...it was an incredible episode. My question is why is it on for an hour and a half? Wasn't only an hour long on Sunday? Are we going to have to sit through an extra half hour worth of commercials? That would suck.

Ep Sato Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 10:24 AM EST

AWWW YEAH! Tonight and tomorrow were made for tv junkies!

First, we have new eps of Chris, Earl & the Office, then we got Grey's Anatomy (n thanks to tivo, it's possible to watch both).

But I can hardly contain myself for tomorrow! The final four Arrested Developments are on and end mere seconds before a new episode of Battlestar Galactica begins.

That booty groove on my easy chair is going to get a serious workout tonight and tomorrow for shizzy.

Veronica Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 10:01 AM EST

I am SO thrilled they are rerunning the post-Superbowl episode!!! I was away for the weekend & recorded the show w/my dvr, but was only able to see the 1st half-hour b/c of the game's overtime. I absolutely LOVE the show & to hate to miss even a second of it!
THANK U ABC!

Kevin Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 10:01 AM EST

Those of us in Seattle didn't get to see it AT ALL, so I think the choice will be clear...
