What's your favorite 'Arrested Development' episode?

Feb 10, 2006, 09:38 AM | by Gary Susman

Categories: Television

95453__ad_l Fox giveth, and Fox taketh away.

Tonight at 8, the network airs its final four episodes of Arrested Development back to back -- opposite the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics on NBC. In honor of the finale of Season 3 (and perhaps the entire series, unless ABC or Showtime steps up to the plate), EW writer Dan Snierson got series creator Mitch Hurwitz to list his five favorite episodes in the new issue of the magazine.

Hurwitz fudged a little, picking seven episodes, including two of the ones airing tonight. (EW's Henry Goldblatt agrees; he gives tonight's AD block, which includes guest spots from Judge Reinhold, William Hung, Bud Cort, and Jason Bateman's sister Justine, an A+.) The rest of Hurwitz's list:

''Pier Pressure'' (Season 1): Michael (Bateman, above left) teaches his son a lesson about marijuana, only to learn a lesson from his own father about the folly of teaching lessons.

''Making a Stand'' (Season 3): In a bookend episode to ''Pier Pressure,'' the Bluths learn more lessons about the folly of teaching lessons, and Gob (Will Arnett, above right) gets uncomfortably close to Michael.

''The Ocean Walker'' (Season 3): In the culmination of of the five-episode Rita Leeds story arc, Michael (and the audience) learn the shocking truth about his love interest Rita (Charlize Theron).

''Good Grief'' (Season 2): George Michael (Michael Cera) learns his grandfather is still alive in this homage to Charles Schulz' Peanuts characters.

''Motherboy XXX'' (Season 2): Henry Winkler jumps the shark. Again.

Agree with Hurwitz? Which AD episodes are your favorites?

"Hand to God".. the conversation between Tobias and George Michael in George Michael's room about being nevernude is classic.

Seth Wed, Feb 22, 2006 at 09:22 AM EST

When Tobias ran over the hill and started to destroy the tiny houses GOB had made to fool the Japanese investors, I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath. Then seeing George Michael enter the shot via jet pack nearly killed me. Absolute brilliance-I will miss this show.

Lex Mon, Feb 13, 2006 at 09:11 PM EST

I forgot other favorite AD moments: in Sword of Destiny, when Gob goes to buy the sword, he also throws in some "dong tea." Hilarious! And another fave is when Lucille belches and says, "sorry, pool food." Or when George Sr. says "Daddy horny, Michael." And who could forget Tobias' classic exclamation, "There are dozens of us! Dozens!" in regards to being a nevernude. I will totally subscribe to Showtime if they pick this up.

Red Mon, Feb 13, 2006 at 02:51 PM EST

Too many episodes to mention. But here are some of my favorite scenes or lines.

1) The scene involving the parody of Godzilla trampling over the miniature village in front of the Japanese businessmen. When George Michael came flying in with his jet pack, I was laughing so hard that I literally had to pause the show until I could see again from all of the tears.

2) Any scene involving Gob trying to hork up a swallowed key to pick a lock.

3) Gob: Oh my God, it's the police... and a construction worker.

4) Lucille: Like I could talk anybody into that musty old claptrap!
Michael: (after an awkward pause) Oh, the cabin... right....

5) Tobias: I blue myself.
Michael: There's got to be a better way of saying that.

6) And a hysterically subtle comment from the uncredited narrator, Ron Howard, "I can not stress this enough, no one was making fun of Andy Griffith".

Fox burned a lot of goodwill in my book by switching the night of the final episodes to compete with the opening ceremony of the Olympics. And with little fanfare, too. If it hadn't been for a coworker who knew I loved AD letting me know, I would have missed these last shows!

tvroxde Mon, Feb 13, 2006 at 11:33 AM EST

I am giggling uncontrollably while reading the other posts. How can this show be gone? I feel like I did when "Sports Night" was cancelled, but worse. At least we have the DVDs. Favor scenes (too many to count):
(1) anything with Franklin
(2) anything with Michael, George Michael, and Ann together
Michael: she's in a beauty pageant, really? What, working backstage...?
GM: Well, it's really more of an inner beauty pageant.
M: Ahh, That makes more sense.
(3) anything with Lucille
L: Lupe's mother is sick. (Pointing to replacement maid.)
M: I hope she's all right!
L: (again looking at maid) Oh, she's terrible. (Noting maid cleaning corner of the floor): I hope you have an exit strategy!

Suzanne Mon, Feb 13, 2006 at 10:31 AM EST

1) "Good Grief" I will never, ever recover from Buster in the army uniform. Or the magic show. CRYING with laughter.

2) "Development Arrested" What a perfect ending... to the SEASON. (fingers crossed)

3) "Bringing Up Buster" Michael: "You were flying today, buddy." Buster: "Just - - - a little too close to the sun."

adj Sun, Feb 12, 2006 at 05:48 PM EST

Every wicked, caustic, delicious exchange between Michael and Lucille would make my week! I lived for those, and for enjoying Jason Bateman in general. I am sooo going to miss this show.

J. Sun, Feb 12, 2006 at 07:26 AM EST

1st season, when Tobias wants to connect with Maebe's love of leather, so he goes to the leather apparel store.

Tobias: I want something that says, "Daddy loves leather."
Salesclerk: How about something that says, "Leather Daddy?"

Priceless.

Baz Sun, Feb 12, 2006 at 03:44 AM EST

jeez. a zillion wonderful moments. my favorite might be the tony wonder episode, when buster pretends to be the magician. after dancing around for a bit he simply says, "and now our magic trick". hilarious.

also, george sr. saying "you're like the biblical brothers, galant and...um...goofuth"

finally, "when you put a squirt of frosting down your throat before you take your medication".

absolute brilliance all around. why bottom-dwelling NBC can't see this is a great compliment to "the office", i'll never understand.

Dol Sun, Feb 12, 2006 at 03:36 AM EST

Gosh is it ending already? can't believe it. c'mon fox. it took FRIENDS 10 seasons to finish and it's not even half as good as AD.

like everyone here, i love every episode. accidentally watched one episode and couldn't wait for the next.

Fav moment: Whole family doing different impressions of chicken. "have any of you ever even SEEN a chicken?" pity Gob didn't make it fast enough, but manage to do it with Lindsay in another episode LOL

Sharlin Sun, Feb 12, 2006 at 01:22 AM EST

''Making a Stand'' (Season 3)

I have never laughed so hard than with this episode, lol.

Sharlin Sun, Feb 12, 2006 at 01:22 AM EST

''Making a Stand'' (Season 3)

I have never laughed so hard than with this episode, lol.

seatex Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 06:50 PM EST

Those last four episodes last night did not disappoint. Michael Cera is the unsung hero of that show, in my opinion. I just love his George Michael. He and Jason Bateman really anchored that show and kept it from going into complete lunacy. This is by far the best show on tv, great writing, acting, directing. Just great. Keep it going!

Tom Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 05:19 PM EST

Meat the Veals is probably the best. Righteous Brothers should be getting more love though. At the end when GOB is singing "Everything I Do" to Michael. Only Meat the Veals tops that.

MPG Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 04:48 PM EST

"Missing Kitty," which features Jeffrey Tambor and David Cross' best work for AD, is the second-best show. He should have included it on his list.

CP Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 02:41 PM EST

Hey SeattleGuy! It's unfortunate that you don't have the intellect to appreciate the onslaught of comic and storytelling genius. AD is absolutly hilarious. I own seasons 1&2 on DVD and I cry myself to sleep at night laughing so hard. Fox did a terrible job promoting the show and they are the reason for the show's failure. This show is a goldmine if the right network picks it up and actually promotes it. (SeattleGuy, enjoy your beloved shows Full House and Dancing with the Stars, jerk!)

tom* Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 02:36 PM EST

I'm still laughing about last night's episode with Justine Bateman. That has to be the best ever. Well, at least until you consider the final episode with Charlize Theron. Oh, and the ones with Liza. Plus most of season two. And then there's...gosh, can't we just list the top 30 episodes?

ed Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 02:34 PM EST

Mother-boy was great.
How about when Buster is wearing the stripper army uniform, dancing to Final Countdown behind Gob when he's performing a magic trick at his father's fake funeral? That was some of the funniest stuff I have ever seen.

Jon Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 01:34 PM EST

How about the great episodes with Julia Louis Dreyfuss as Maggie? When Michael threw the Bible at her and she actually was temporarily blind. Incredible. Anything with Lucille's snarky comments: "If I wanted to taste your fingers I'd lick the inside of your ear!" when she only had pool membership at the country club. About Lupe, the housekeeper: "They didn't sneak across the border to be your friends." She yells BITCH! at the wall referring to Lucille 2 and Micheal tells her that doesn't work when she's at the model home. Maeby working at the movie studio and saying "Marry Me!" everytime someone thought she looked young. There are too many to list; AD is simply amazing.

Sarah Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 01:22 PM EST

I love so many episodes it's hard to narrow it down. As many have already said, I would subscribe to Showtime if they picked it up. The best show on television, no doubt. And, the best TV DVD's as well. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news. Cuck-co-cuck-co-cuck!!

Addison Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 01:09 PM EST

All the Henry Winkler episodes are brilliant. Loblaw was really best because of his interaction (of lack thereof) with Lindsay. And the Carl Weathers period. How hard did you laugh every time Carl metioned how a bone would make a great stew? Third and lastly, Gob breaking in, and "out" of prison. White-Power Bill, we hardly knew ye.

Beth Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 12:58 PM EST

there are 2 moments that immediately come to mind...the first is GOB trying to throw the letter into the ocean as an "act of defiance" and the second is the entire family making fun of Jason Bateman and calling h im a chicken. He finally gets tired of it all and the way they are acting (and their poor chicken impressions) and just screams "have ANY OF YOU even SEEN A CHICKEN?!?!"

Kingsrule20 Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 12:28 PM EST

Season 1, when Tobias tries to catch a cab to the "Gothic Castle", but since he's dressed as a dominatrix, the British cabbie takes him to an entirely different type of castle...

Chris Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 10:37 AM EST

"I think I'll put it in her brownie..." it doesn't get any better than that... (Afternoon Delight)

jeff Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 10:02 AM EST

They are all funny. Too many to choose from. I love the series and think Fox should reconsider.

Christina Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 03:01 AM EST

the four last eps were just spectacular. im completely devastated while at the same time still in awe of how brilliant this show is. tonite we were audience to the funniest two hours on tv that we will ever see in a very long time.

SteveHolt! Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 02:15 AM EST

Not even close ... Afternoon Delight ... there is no funnier moment than Michael shamefully discerning the lyrics while Maebe gives it her throatiest, "Afternoon De-Light!"

Farewell, AD. Prepare to join Freaks and Geeks as the only other television show whose cancellation makes grown men cry. Or at least this grown man, anyway.

BooyahAchieved Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 02:06 AM EST

I LOVE Good Grief! "How many times do I have to tell this kid Chicken Wings?" BRILLIANT!!

Abe Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:33 PM EST

"Development Arrested" now ranks as one of my favorites. The last line," It was Arrested Development" was so heartbreaking. If it really was the final episode, then it should rank as one of the best series' finale. One last thing, why is "The War at Home" still on the air?

Anyong Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 10:51 PM EST

I write this with a heavy heart after watching the last 2 episodes (THEY NEVER ANNOUNCED THEM ON FOX!!!!! I ALMOST MISSED THE WHOLE THING!!!!). Of course, brillian as always. All time favorite has to be Sad Sack. "You're looking at balls here." is the funniest line in the history of television. I woke the whole house up laughing. Showtime better make up their minds because I am really battling emotions here.

theBigE Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 10:18 PM EST

Ok, now I have a new favorite episode. "Development Arrested" topped everything off perfectly. And now I'm sad. Show's over folks. It won't be back.

"Maybe a movie...."

Allie Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 10:11 PM EST

OMFG I can't believe how wonderful these last shows were!!! Lindsay in bed with Michael was the BEST!!! I DIED!

i heart AD Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 09:37 PM EST

SeattleGuy--
put your hand back in your pants, turn the lights back off in your mother's basement, and enjoy the friday nite you have been enjoying for 35 years and leave AD alone.

buster_lover Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 09:34 PM EST

best acted comedy on tv.
best writing on tv.
best comedy on tv.
a show like this deserves to have a long life. FOX is such a stupid network, i cant believe they are treating AD's possibly final eps to a friday nite timeslot opposite the opening of the olympics. plus, where's the promotion been? ive seen none at all. boooooo to you FOX.

molly Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 09:30 PM EST

"good grief" has always been a favorite of mine with every other episode running a close second. i love this show dearly and always will. recently, i have had trouble understanding why desperate housewives wins all the comedy awards...it's an insult to every true comedy on tv. as my beloved GOB would say, "come on!"

BoxOfficeGoddess Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 06:16 PM EST

I love the episode: "The One Where They Build a House" with GOB's "business model", Lindsey dating a homeless man ("So, do you want to go back to your apartment?"), GOB and the "Mission Accomplished" banner, and the rock, paper, scissors fight.

Also, any episode with Lucille vs. Lucille 2 (how has Liza Minelli not won a guest Emmy?) is usually funny. Love all interactions between Buster and "Mother", Franklin!, the stair car, GOB on his Segway...I love this show so much! Hope it gets picked up by someone.

SteveS Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 06:03 PM EST

Yes, SteveB, this is a show that clearly appeals to the uneducated. You and your fellow
phd candidates can content yourselves with
"Stacked" and "Rodney"...

Anyway, my favorite episode has to be "Meat the Veals." Ione Skye, where have you been hiding the last 15 years?

theBigE Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 05:57 PM EST

Also - "S.O.B's" totally rocked!!! That episode was near to perfection!

I'm surprised that people liked the Martin Short episode. It's not a bad episode, on second watch, but a lot of fans I've talked to hate it. Short was just a little TOO over the top.

theBigE Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 05:53 PM EST

My favorites, besides the ones listed ("Pier Pressure" was great), have to be "Sad Sack" in season two (Tobias and his mistaken WMD's) and from the same season, "Afternoon Delight." Loved the interaction between Oscar and Michael in the second one.

"I think I'll stick it in her Brownie"

Michelle F Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 05:18 PM EST

I love all the episodes mentioned by Mitch Hurwitz, but I must add STAFF INFECTION. Buster's traumatising experience with sheep, the Feds infiltrarting the Bluth Company while George Michael's "in charge...so many great things about this episode!

SteveB Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 05:16 PM EST

I agree with SeattleGuy--this show is WAY overrated. I guess high school dropouts have to watch something...

nicole Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 05:01 PM EST

michael: "you tell gob that i have a nice hard cot waiting for him here"
lucille: "you would do that to your own brother?"
michael: "i said 'cot' mother"

michael: "it's as ann as the nose on plain's face"

tobias: "i can almost taste those meaty leading man parts in my mouth!"

gob: "i can't explain this feeling i have it's anger or hunger..."
michael: "maybe it's love."
gob: "i know what an erection feels like michael!"

Ali Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 04:59 PM EST

I don't know the exact name of the episode, but third season, with the Japanese Investors, George Michael with the jet pack and the mole costume...what a great Godzilla moment.

daniel jakes Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 04:42 PM EST

Granted, every episode of this show is brilliant in it's own right, but how on earth could you leave off the funniest episode they've ever had, the one where Martin Short guest stars. COME ON!!!!!!!

Ep Sato Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 04:31 PM EST

I have a hard time picking my five faves.

I loved Making a stand and that ep where Michael joins forces with Steve Holt.

My fave though, is the one where Lucille shows up to the board meeting TRASHED because she had taken buster's pain medication (to relieve a hangover) before going on another bender. I believe this episode also featured the themesong to "sugarfoot".

I loved the girls with low self esteem episodes, am forever jaded by the nevernude movement, and will never hear "the Final Countdown" without cracking up ever again.

To all my AD fans, I am sooo glad to see you all came out to say a lil' something something. Also, I'll be at home tonight watching with the rest of you.

COME ON!

Jennifer Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 04:25 PM EST

I usually love the GOB moments.

"Am I in 3/4ths of a hopsital room?"

Jeremy Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 04:07 PM EST

Greatest (period) Television Show (period) EVER (period)

A favortite moment that hasn't been mentioned -The "Franklin Comes Alive" rendition of "Everything I do" - I can't breathe just thinking about it.

And I'll never get tired of the George Michael lightsaber tape - I'm literally on the floor every time I see it, or think about it.
And there's a deleted scene from the 1'st season DVD, from Key Decisions - "I get it Dad, fine. No chainsaws! It's always wrong!" - if you've seen it you no what I'm talking about.

My wife and I love this show so much we're naming our first daughter Maebe.

Kari Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 04:00 PM EST

Bob Loblaw's Law Blog - and Tobias's comment to the effect of "that's certainly hard to get my mouth around." And Michael telling Tobias to tape record himself talking sometime - so freakin' funny.

I love that I'm laughing out loud reading everyone's favorite moments.

Percy Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 03:54 PM EST

Mine is probably Amigos, but "S.O.B.s," "Bring Up Buster," and "Meat the Veals" are all up there as well.

God, this show rocks.

SeattleGuy Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 03:42 PM EST

None--this show is so terrible! I'm glad I don't have to hear about this awful show any more--unless some other network is stupid enough to pick it up and then I'll have to wait another year for the inevitable cancellation of this complete DRECK!

ACR65 Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 03:20 PM EST

Too many to count - a few stand outs include:

The airing of Scandlemakers and Ron Howard criticizing the shoddy narration.

Lucille's reactions to Gene Parmasean's many disguises..

Hot cops - season 1s Pier Pressure - hired by Lindsay in Season 2 to play the "gang members" whom Tobias ends up hiring for 'Tobia is Queen Mary'.

Kitty: Say goodbye to THESE! (lifts shirt)
Tobias: THOSE are blue too!!

Lucille - on stopping an intruder "First I blow him, then I Poke him".

Frank Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 03:10 PM EST

There are too many brilliant episodes to choose from. "Motherboy XXX" stands out, as does any episode with a glimpse of Franklin.

I hope it gets picked up.

Cory Clay Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 02:41 PM EST

Every night I go to sleep with Arrested Development playing on my DVD player. Fox "YOU'VE made a huge mistake." No matter how many times I've seen or heard (as I'm going to sleep) I always laugh at the part when George Sr tells George Michael to chastise his brother for wearing his clothes and when George Michael agrees to do it George Sr asks to hear how he is going to say it and George Michael says "I'm probably not going to say it" for some reason that always gets me. George Michael does the akward funny stuff just as well as Ben Stiller. But any episode with Gob is going to be my favorite. Which means of course I can't pick a favorite. And remember when dating those religous girls out there....."When they get pregnant they Stay pregnant"

Shantelle Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 02:35 PM EST

I can't pick just one episode. I love Mrs. Featherbottom and Franklin (It ain't easy being white...). Please somebody pick this show up!!

erin Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 02:27 PM EST

i'm gonna have to go with "Bringing up Buster."

Buster: It's like Mom gets off on being withholding.

Lucille: Buster, would you like a candy bar? Well too bad, I'm withholding it. And I'm getting off.

Tiffany Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 02:26 PM EST

How about when George Michael tells Micheal of how Ann puts a boiled egg in her mouth and then some mayonnaise, and smooshes it around George Micheal: "she's so cute"

Nicole Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 02:25 PM EST

I have to say my favorite moment of all is in "Good Grief" when George Micheal, and later all of the men, walk away to the snoopy music. I also love Gob's chicken dance. And their is a radio reporter around here and his name is Steve Holt. Every time I hear it on the radio, I must yeal "Steve Holt!"

Kristen Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 02:25 PM EST

Gotta love the episode where they go to Mexico and Ice follows them with the blueprint of George Sr. and then tackles Tobias because he is painted blue.

Or the Church and State Fair! That was great!

Maria Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 02:21 PM EST

Any episode that involves Buster's love of juice or Gob's puppet Franklin. It really makes me sad that so many people missed out on such a truly brilliant show. Shame on everyone who watches reality television instead of this gem.

Tiffany Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 02:16 PM EST

How about when George Michael tells Micheal of how Ann puts a boiled egg in her mouth and then some mayonnaise, and smooshes it around George Micheal: "she's so cute"

cj Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 01:59 PM EST

Those are all great - another to add is "Staff Infection" - when Buster and Gob go to work on the construction site. Gob's trying to get around on his scooter thing and Buster just keeps giggling about all the "rough" language the real workers use.
Thank the Lord for DVD sets!!!!!

Tiff's Jeremy Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 01:40 PM EST

ok.. one subtle one that has been missed...

When George Miachael exaplains (with a beautiful visual to boot) about how Ann eats her snack called a "Mayonegg". Priceless.

And of course Tobias crashing through the railing.

"This must be a fun and sexy time for you"

Tobias' comments about letting someone sink an arrow into his buttox. And taking a chubby for the family.

"Bob Loblaw Drops Law Bomb" on the newspaper headline

"A trick is something a whore does Michael"

The way that Gob cries out "Myy-chael" on the Boyfights video.

ps - what ever happened to Annyong?

Jeremy Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 01:22 PM EST

1. Every time Gob turns a hundred dollars into a hundred pennies and the board members go crazy, I go crazy as well...
2. Ben Stiller finding a cookie or a drink
3. The statue of the kid that found a severed hand.
4. STEVE HOLT

Pearl Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 01:22 PM EST

I have asthma, and watching AD, I literally laugh until I can't breathe. A particular favorite: photos of Tobias' balls are mistaken for sites of WMD's in Iraq. The photos make the cover of Time, and a TV reporter says brightly, "We've found WMD's in Iraq. How this will affect your weekend at 11." A note to Showtime -- I don't subscribe, but I, and I bet a couple of million others, would if you picked up AD.

Katie Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 01:15 PM EST

My favorite 3 hours of any entertainment PERIOD is Disc 1 of the Season 2 DVD set... and probably my favorite would be "The One Where They Build a House" or "Amigos"...

Gob: Paper beats rock
Michael: Ok, but rock sinks boat

Michael: We all want the same thing here
Oscar: I want to live here
George Michael: I want to buy Ann some diamond dust
Buster: I'm hoping to get mildly injured to get out of the army
[...]
Tom Jane: I just want my kids back!

Gob: My brother said he wasn't optimistic it could be done. But I didn't take "wasn't optimistic it could be done" for an answer

Michael: Nobody looks good here
Gob: Especially that little dude
Michael: That's Ann
Gob: Who?

Gob: I think I know of someone who's trying to "cirsumvrent" the law

Gob: Co-co-coh! Co-co-coh! Co-co-co-co--(tackle)

Narrator: But between losing his glasses and the carbon monoxide buildup, Buster thought he was in Mexico.
Buster: This will shield me from the hot Mexican son...

Buster: I never thought I'd miss a hand so much...

George Michael: Way to plant, Ann!
Michael: You and Plant go wait in the car

Amy Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 01:12 PM EST

Nevernude, any comment by Michael about Ann, "I need the moisture," the recurring George Michael light saber scene, and on and on and on...

John Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 01:07 PM EST

Every episode has had me laughing out loud. My favorite has to be "S.O.B.s" - the self referential humor running through the entire show was classic.

I also laugh everytime I think about Lindsey cooking soup and Buster sampling it, saying "It's so watery - with a splash of ham!" And Lindsey's reply with a knowing smile, explaining her creation, "It's hot ham water!"

Or, in other episodes, how about David Cross' masterful slapstick, from crashing down from the second floor into a coffee table as Mrs. Featherbottom to slipping on Lucille's spilled drink and somehow having his leg rotate over his head as he fell...

Come on now! Somebody step up and air this show!

Lauren Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 12:57 PM EST

BOB LOBLAW!!!

PE Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 12:49 PM EST

I'm going to have a box of Kleenex by my side tonight as I watch AD. A show this excellent does not deserve this fate.

Anna Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 12:45 PM EST

One word: analrapist.

grayson Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 12:43 PM EST

My MOther the Car was hilarious, Michael's quotes and expressions were hilarious.
"I'm crazy about this aspirin, I can't believe we give it to children".

Dan Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 12:42 PM EST

Save Our Bluths was the kind of genius that made me love this show: self-reference, hysterically interconnected plots, Job's unintentional hitting on Lucille, and Buster's "Sister is my mother now, Mother! and is it me, or does she look hotter?"
A classic done in AD's unique style. Showed exactly why someone really needs to Save Our Bluths!

The episode with Martin Short is my favorite- I laughed so hard when he threw up trying to seduce Lindsey because his half deaf body holder shook him too much.

I hope another network saves Arrested Development... PLEASE!!! Its so funny!

Jeff Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 12:24 PM EST

I hope my favorite episode hasn't been made yet. Someone please step up to the plate.

Lauren Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 12:15 PM EST

Pier Pressure and Good Grief are fantastic. What is Fox thinking, dumping these 4 episodes tonight and then premiering what look like 2 completely awful comedies soon?

Jim Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 12:10 PM EST

"I love JUUUUUICE!"

And who can forget: "Plate or platter?" "I don't understand the question, and I refuse to respond to it."

sally Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 12:04 PM EST

I too love every episode...so I'll have to pick some favorite moments: Maeby calls her dad "Mrs Fingerbottom"; George Michael's head droops while the sad Peanuts song plays and he passes by a beagle on a red dog house; anytime Buster says "heeey bruther!"; Tobias stalks Lindsay while painted blue; Michael calls Ann "Bland" and "Egg" (as in, "it's Ann as the nose on Plain's face", the Bob Loblaw Law Blog.... WHY IS THIS SHOW NOT GETTING PICKED UP? ...(cue the heavy sigh and sad Peanuts music)

Paul Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 12:04 PM EST

ANY episode with Liza Minnelli as Lucille 2...totally classic. "You're ok, you're ok, we're Ok!" and I laughed so hard at Buster being caught with the automated vacuum cleaner in the bed..."Has anyone seen that vacuum?" BEEP BEEP BEEP

drew Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 12:00 PM EST

The episode where tobias reveals he's a Never-nude episode....classic. and the Bob Boblaw joke will never get old.

Lauren Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:57 AM EST

I love them all, but for some reason, every time I watch George Michael re-enact his favorite scenes of Star Wars followed by Buster's re-enactment of Chicago I start crying with laughter. (Immaculate Election)

Tim Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:53 AM EST

Can we forget about the Charlize Theron episodes, please?

Carol Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:45 AM EST

The funniest AD moment EVER was when the entire family did their chicken dances and Michael said, "have any of you ever even seen a chicken." That was classic!

T.B. Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:35 AM EST

"Bringing up Buster" will always be memorable for Buster's expletive-riddled outburst, to which Michael deadpans, "Well, no one's gonna top that."

Adair Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:35 AM EST

Oh Oh Oh and the one where George Michael and Tobias fight in the mini-model-home-park dressed as monsters...

Adair Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:34 AM EST

I liked the last one that was shown, before the "break". The send-up of all the traditional ploys for viewers... "She's the one who dies."... The literal pleas for viewers... Heartbreaking and funny at the same time.

CraigG. Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:33 AM EST

"The Immaculate Election" Tobias as Mrs. Featherbottom cannot be topped- period. When she/he falls through the railing at the model home- haven't laughed so hard since.
"When I get nervous I start singing!"

Laura Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:27 AM EST

Righteous Brothers was good, but my all time favorite has to be "Ready, Aim, Marry Me" with Martin Short - "Go for the nuts!" I laughed until tears were streaming down my face. I hope SOMEONE picks up this tremendous show!! I'll even subscribe to Showtime if that's what it takes!

liz Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:25 AM EST

I have no children, but if I did, I would say that having to choose a favorite episode or 'Arrested Deveolpment' would like having to choose my favorite child!!!!!!!!!

Me Miss AD already Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:23 AM EST

I don't know the name, but its the one where George Michael askes GOB, "Uncle GOB, has Aunt Lindsay ever been pregnant?" And GOB answers, "Yes, dozens of times."

Jeff Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:23 AM EST

I love the episode where Michael spends the whole time trying to locate the guy that he thinks is called "Hermano"!

Crystal Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:22 AM EST

I absolutely love every episode, but I'd have to say that "Afternoon Delight" and "Righteous Brothers" are my favorite episodes. Gob's sexual harassment speech and love for his suit in "Afternoon Delight" are hilarious, and in "Righteous Brothers", I love "Franklin Comes Alive" and Gob telling Michael that George Sr. kissed him, then responding "I didn't say he was into it!" when Michael points out that their father was unconscious at the time. This show is so brilliant-I've watched every episode from season 1 and 2 at least 5 times, and it somehow manages to get even funnier every time I watch it!

MJ Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:15 AM EST

"Pier Pressure", "Good Grief" and "The Sword of Destiny" are about as flawless as you can get. But even the worst AD episodes are true gems!

the MOM Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:02 AM EST

I think that it has to be "Save Our Bluths" -- the most meta of meta-episodes.

jcoop Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 10:57 AM EST

the one with 'afternoon delight.' GOB at the christmas party is a classic!

Mike Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 10:47 AM EST

I agree, "Pier Pressure" is my favorite episode too. I wasn't interested in watching this show, and I happened on it one night while that very episode was on, and I've been hooked ever since.

..and that's why you don't mess with my favorite show!

Lex Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 10:43 AM EST

Bringing Up Buster and Hand to God are classics and, no pun intended, hands down my favorites. I also love the season finale for season 2, when Franklin gets bleached. "that's just the kind of joke he would have loved" sob! :)
