Snap Judgment: Pink's 'Stupid Girls' video

Jan 26, 2006, 02:33 PM | by Gary Susman

Categories: Music

142731__pink_lFor someone who lives in the huge glass house called Hollywood, Pink sure has some big stones. In the Dave Meyers-directed ''Stupid Girls'' video, which is scheduled to debut today on MTV.com (we spotted it early here), Pink gets into character to lampoon Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate Olsen (pictured), Paris Hilton, breast implants, spray-on tanning, and, um, bulimia. Pink also poses as a political candidate whose televised speech is being watched by a little girl, as if to suggest that girls and women are too obsessed with looks, fame, and money and not enough on loftier pursuits like politics. Pretty funny to watch, but it's still too easy to dismiss the clip as a slumping artist's bid for renewed attention, since the song itself is a tired slab of warmed-over club beats.

Hey I completey agree with what Pink is saying in this video, I mean women shouldn't have to dumb theirsleves down to feel pretty and they shouldn't have to buy the $10,000 hangbag either, as Pink mentioned in an interview, I mean I hate the thought that young women, like myself, are doing these things to themselves like blowing chunks into a sink. I'm all the way with Pink espically the K.F.C. petition, hey everybody reading this please sign the petiton it means a lot, afterall would you like to be treated like that and die because of it?I'm not a vegiterian or nothing, I LOVE MEAT, but animals should NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES be treated like that!. Go to pinkspage.com to sign the petiton. I love the song "Stupid Girls" and I hope all females get to hear sometime soon before our planet with all the females turn into "stupid girls."

Des Mon, Apr 17, 2006 at 12:16 AM EST

To get a better feel of the song, you all should have watched Pink when she was a guest on the Oprah show. She wasn't calling or saying the women she pretended to be in the video were stupid.

Here's something she said:

Pink told the music network that she'd be a "little starstruck dork" meeting Oprah. But she comes off better on the show, telling Winfrey that she's scared for young women today.

"I personally need more examples of how to be better and how to be stronger and how to go a different way," Pink said. "I need more examples, so I can't even imagine being in school and looking around. And now it's cool to have a sex tape. Are you kidding me?"

It's more of the idea that women need to be stronger because media portrays women as objects/things instead of people...

mia Fri, Apr 14, 2006 at 05:18 PM EST

you know, it actually IS so fair. I mean, those stupid girls really deserved to be satirized. that's great that there's someone who had thought of all this.

Big Boy x Fri, Apr 7, 2006 at 05:29 AM EST

Pink ROCKS!!! - she blowz ma mind - the bit in the video wiv the soppy water and the car... SOOOOO TURNED ON!!!! that girl can give me a boner any day!

NoEnd Thu, Apr 6, 2006 at 04:18 AM EST

Excuse me?? Pink herself has resort herself to the image she so loathe. Look at her now? She used to have a full figure bu now she's as skinny as a stick. That's why she can act in the video so convincingly.. Oh come on Pink try not to be a female Eminem.

luke Wed, Apr 5, 2006 at 06:36 PM EST

pinks song is wikid and the video is jus the best it went in the charts at numba 4 in the UK wished it had gone to number 1!!!!! its wel gd!!!

Ruddy Tue, Mar 7, 2006 at 01:31 PM EST

This video was a huge breath of fresh air, even though it did use the regular pop format of music video, I think she really meant what she sang about and it shows. The best line, "What happened to the dreams of a girl president,She's dancing in the video next to 50 Cent"
hahah, so true if countries like the Philipines or India can have women presidents why are we so behind?

In a country that the number one googled search term is "Paris Hilton" and where songs like "life is hard for a pimp" win oscars, really can you blame her for singing about it?

Tawana Sun, Mar 5, 2006 at 02:36 PM EST

OMG ive seen this video and I laughed my ass off!!! I love Pink for making this song/video...its absolutely awesome.

John Sat, Mar 4, 2006 at 11:52 PM EST

I'm so Glad Pink made fun of these Stupid Girls. These No talent Hollywood "It" girls(Hilary Duff, Lindsay, Paris, Nicole, Jessica)Deserve to be made fun of. They are everything that's wrong with the entertainment industry today. I wanna see beautiful, talented, deserving actresses and female singers who don't need to whore themselves up, get a cheap publicity stunt or stop eating just for a cover on a sleazy, trashy tabloid like US Weekly or a spot on MTV or TRL. Thank You Pink.

And to all the haters,Please, Shut the F*** Up. Pink is trying to be a good rolemodel by telling girls that they don't have to look up to these no talent skanks and that they are their own person. I definately think Pink is right for that. TRL needs to put this video on their show. Especially since they shower those brainless twits (Hilary, Lindsay, Paris etc.) with praise. If they can show that on their show, they can definately show this.

Pink is not trying to make fun of people who have serious eating disorders. She's just doing it to the girls who do because they're desperate for attention, especially those celebrity girls. And to all those haters who say Pink's career is over, Her new CD comes out April 2nd, so we shall wait and see!

jess Thu, Mar 2, 2006 at 09:35 PM EST

P!NK!!!!! i love you! i completely agree with her on every single point! where the hell are all the intelligent women? They're all baking themselves in tanning beds, frying their hair, or just acting stupid for attention! You can be smart and sexy ladies! Trust me on this!

britty babe xox Wed, Mar 1, 2006 at 04:00 AM EST

** This clip is awesome **
It explains how much money can destroy a celeb ... e.g Tara Reid was abosolutely gorgeous and then she had botox and breast implants .. now she looks like S*** ... its amazing what trouble celebs go to just to have a good image .. like if i was a celeb I would definately need to have a good image but god I would only go as far as the make-up!!
anywayz Pinks gorgeus and shes abosulutely right ... they are stupid girls!!.....luv alwaiis britty babe xox

Nick:

As a public relations major, I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on that one.

nicK Tue, Feb 28, 2006 at 06:30 PM EST

This goes to Paris n Jessica...

Baby there's nothing called BAD PRESS !!!

Stacy Tue, Feb 28, 2006 at 03:07 PM EST

This video articulates so many unspoken problems and unfair expectations of women in our society. Pink stirred up so many emotions for both women and men in this video, and even if you disagree with its content-she got everyone talking about and challenging the stereotypical feminine image, and with a pop song!!! If you don't believe me, just read this message board. Kudos to her!!! = )

Rob Sat, Feb 25, 2006 at 07:30 PM EST

If you've ever been to LA then you know exactly who she is singing about. Go to the Beverly Center and surrounding areas and this is all you'll see. Rich girls that don't have to work and wannabees that wish they didn't have to waiting for their next acting audition. Great Job Pink - love your music and anyone that's a critic, I bet she's got more money than you... muaaaahhhhhhhh

MKane Fri, Feb 24, 2006 at 09:39 AM EST

About time someone pointed it out: They (Hilton, Olsen ect.) are stupid girls. If you cannot form a coherent, intellegent sentance, and have to resort to "that's hot" you are an idiot. There are many beautiful women with actual talant out there if you truly care to worship hollywood. For Better or Worse these girls are roll models, and are sucessfully teaching girls everywhere to be attention whores. I mean, just check out Myspace--Every few pages is a thirteen year old with a pushup bra and fuck me heels desperate for attention.........
do you want your daughter to be that girl?

Elle Thu, Feb 23, 2006 at 06:32 AM EST

who ever has a problem with this video must be insulted by the images beacause you yourself, your mom sister or whatever female you just happen to know and or love is a STUPID GIRL!

C Mon, Feb 20, 2006 at 04:55 AM EST

It's funny say it's harsh because the National Center of Eating Disorders is supporting her and her efforts to speak out about bulemia, 100%. Why is it harsh to do what she did, yet it's not harsh to call people fat and say you need to lose weight? Or your breast are small so make them bigger and people will notice you. My congrats go out to her, I love it.

Creda Sun, Feb 19, 2006 at 10:06 PM EST

The P!NK song is weak.

The song shows that P!NK is living through issues of The Enquierer from 2 years ago.

She is OUT OF TOUCH.

P!NK is STUPID enough to embrace "Smart People", who happen to be the very types that either never heard of, or don't care about P!NK.

P!NK better have a good song on this new cd, or she'll be gone for another two years, or forever even.

This is a sad recording, from an artist who could have been, and briefly was, a genuine artist.

It may be all over.

Taylor (14 of Michigan) Sat, Feb 18, 2006 at 08:53 PM EST

I saw a newspaper with P!nk on it and it said something about her new video and all it's "controversy" and I hadn't seen it yet. The following day I saw the video on tv and LOVED it. All the people with eating disorders are mad about those parts of the video, but really I think she is helping the problem by saying to girls who want to be an "it girl" or "cool" that that isn't the way to go and it's not the smartest move for yourself. I'm a teenager and in the past year I went through different phases where I wanted to be like Paris or Jessica and now I realize that all I can be is myself and no amount of make-up or Fred Segal shirt will change that (lol), I now look up to P!nk and women like her who look good and still are themselves. It has made me realize the role models I have here in my very own family.

THANK YOU P!NK!!!

leyla Sat, Feb 18, 2006 at 03:29 AM EST

loved the video...jessica simpson imitation was priceless:-)Big fan of alanis, pink and avril. Think the message that we need to pass the young gals is that they can have it all. Its not that you either have the looks or brains...you can have it all...My mother taught me that...and now(i dont mean to brag) but at 26 im a game programmer...with fab looks...which get alot of attention...so yes you can have it all girls!!

Marwa Fri, Feb 17, 2006 at 10:07 AM EST

it's like i was waiting for this! I soooooo love pink shes great and the video is F***ing hilarious. Shes something special, i just love the way she doesnt give a shit says and does what she wants.

By the way, this world needs people like Pink who goes out and gives people a lesson ;)

u go girl!

Guiselle Sun, Feb 12, 2006 at 05:46 PM EST

This is video is a great; kudos to Dave Meyers for producing. Yes, maybe the song beats are too commercial; but the lyrics do have a point.
Yeah, while Lindsay Lohan, Paris, and all of them put their "dumb blonde" image TO SELL. These celebrities often aren't as dumb as we may think; we need to realize they do this TO SELL. It is unfortunate however, that many teens and girls in their 20s look up to this MADEUP image, which most of the times isn't real. These celebrities are there to make money, doing whatever it is they need to do.
Pink could do this to and probably make more money. Im glad she cares enough not to. Girls need to realize what the good role models are. Our grandmothers and mothers found for sexual equality for decades.. and now we are throwing all that away by showing all we really want is to be PRETTY.. how sad

MJ Sat, Feb 11, 2006 at 06:05 PM EST

I liked this video. I liked it simply because it was real.... the song is not my favourite, but I can't help but feel like they have hit it on the nose. I don't want anyone telling me that I must be one of those stupid girls if I have felt insecure because I know that we all have at some point. I don't have a huge chest, but my best friend does... Have any of you ever been out with someone like that and had guys just OGGLE? I have been made to feel on numerous occasions that I am less than her simply because I'm not DD, but does that make me any less beautiful? I hate the impression that you have to have those boobs, and long legs and be a complete DITZ to get any guy. This stereotype comes in large part due to actresses and singers without talent..........
If Jessica Simpson had the voice of Christina Aguilera (who is TALENTED nobody can disagree with that) I miiiiiight be a little more willing to accept her status as a star, but she has no talent whatsoever except for the two fake ones sticking out in front of her and her orgasm voice... see... most people with little or no talent who just want to do their thing slap an X rated sticker on their work and use the title porn star! I don't want to turn on the tv and be subjected to those images... I think I got off on a tangent there, but I feel that sometimes these things need to be said. And in many ways Pink is helping us say them.....
One last thing... I hope that this movie works on the other sex too... guys need to see that the girls they drool over are seriously ridiculous, unrealistic, and just plain gross sometimes... I know not all guys are like this... my boyfriend isn't, and I am glad I found someone to tell me that I am beautiful everyday (I don't need that to feel good, but it sure helps to be appreciated...) and I wish that every girl could be so lucky so that maybe just MAYBE they would stop this cycle of... ugh... cookie cutter girls... That is what I have to say... I know some people will disagree with it but in the end thats what music is about :)
TA!

Amen Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 06:42 PM EST

It's about time some one said what the media is feeding us and what we are buying is BUNK. Even if it is in a mediocre beat. I'm hoping for the day when women realize that being intelligent IS beautiful, that we have been brainwashed to insert foreign objects in our body and vomit frequently, and incurr large amounts of debt in the hopes of achieving an unattainable beauty.

Kitten Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 04:46 PM EST

I loved the Video! Cudos to Pink! I hope my girls would want to have a woman like Pink for a rolemodel and not some dimwit pornstar ( Uh I mean serious Actress) wanna-be like Paris Hilton. I think the video was a bit cliche but in a way that ozzed humor and wit - I like that!

The fact that she DARED to say something about bulimia made me proud. Bulimia is a disease for many young girls BECAUSE they think they HAVE to be skeletal (Oups I mean skinny) to be someone - to be loved. I didn't feel like she was making fun of people with bulimia - she was putting it out there. I have "prayed" to the Porcelin Goddess in my younger days - and I BELIEVE in discussing the subject - not hiding it!

Pink - You never stop surprising me in a good way. Even if we get to see your gorgeous body in the video - you don't need to flaunt it to sell your music, yet you do it in the video pretending to be "those" stupid girls -I just love your sense of irony.

THANK YOU We all can use a good laugh! and this video sure provided it!

i1u29 Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 03:30 PM EST

im not saying pink is good or bad or that her music video is good or bad.
everyone is intitled to their own oppinion so dont take n e thing i say harshly
i like pinks lyrics, video and melody all until i hear this part
omg i ate more than 300 calories...
then i like got pissed
i think she has the right to say w/e she wants but i think she might have been beta off thinking bout t first
ppl who have bulimia and going through recovery have it hard enough they dont need some pop singer telling them there stupid think bout it
if u had trouble reading or u had downsyndrome would u want a singer telling u u have problems?

Morgan Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 11:15 AM EST

Haha, I agree with Strida! Why are all these ppl saying Pinks video is so smart and it touches on real issues? Why doen't anybody touch on the issue of what rap stars are portraying? They're encouraging a culture of illiteracy, the dumber u speak, the cooler you are!? Rap stars are making money off of sounding like SPED Heads ( Special Education for anyone who doesn't know)

Strida Fri, Feb 10, 2006 at 10:59 AM EST

Pink's video is such a short-sighted, ignorant video. She thinks she's making a point to girls by saying "hey girls don't be like these fake girls" But all she's perpetuating is the viscious cycle of catty girls. Girls who are insecure with there appearance ripp on other girls, and Pink's saying that its alright to do so. Her and Avril, they're both pretty girls but they're not yr top ten sex idols so instead they run thier mouths, the msg that they have is correct but the way that they choose to convey sells them out short. Why can't they just accept sex icons for what they are, and thye can be whoever they want to be? Why? Cause then they'll have no attention, boo hoo:(

Lynn Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 06:20 PM EST

it's funny you feel like that....you must be one of those stupid girls!!!!!!!! lmao

Kara Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 08:26 AM EST

I think the song is great, but the message is insanely important. She is not throwing stones to get attention, reading the lyrics her words are exactly how I feel all the time. Especially when she talks about herself going crazy because the whole world is buying it...It is a message that NEEDS to get out there. Girls like simpson and Paris Hilton glorify stupidity and whore activity. they teach the rest of us and their young impressionable fans that this is where your value lies. I've always liked Pink but after seeing this video I LOVEher.

Monica Thu, Feb 9, 2006 at 07:27 AM EST

hello me name is monika i from poland i love pink becouse is very fun mam was w dupie i have you i n ass hehe i dont speak english bat i speak sometime. i have english in the school ENGLISH IS COOL!!!

Tessa Wed, Feb 8, 2006 at 11:03 PM EST

The video for this song was really well done, and the song itself was very effective. We need more female (AND male) artists to actually start singing about something besides sex and exploitation. Too many people have such powerful positions and do nothing with them- they have the power to make a difference, and don't use it. I've never been a Pink lover, but I have a lot of respect for her; it isn't the first time she's used her position as a popular singer to benefit people and send out a powerful message. And she does it outside of music as well.

There were so many accuracies that she touched on- especially in the video. I offer her and the other brains behind 'Stupid Girls' my congratulations for hitting the nail right on the head. We need more of this awareness-raising media in pop culture today, in a world where everyone seems to 'be like him' or 'be like her'. This is certainly a step in the right direction!

emily Wed, Feb 8, 2006 at 08:49 PM EST

I think that this is the greatest video in history!pink is a really good singer....unlike linsay lohan or jessica simpson. if you want ot be famous, show your real talent... not your bodies. remind me... why is paris hilton famous? making yourself barf is not he best way to die... either is smoking.... pink is right. being a nobody doesn't show that you are a somebody.

michael Wed, Feb 8, 2006 at 06:57 PM EST

I love the video i was driving in my car and i loved the song. I watched the video, it was amazing, i wish i could watch it on this website but you cant

Stanzi Wed, Feb 8, 2006 at 10:01 AM EST

When I saw this video for the first time this morning, I was so relieved and inspired to see Pink criticise the hollywood "it" girls. There is so much damage being done to girls and women in the real world by the relentless images we recieve from the media that create a narrow and impossible standard of beauty to live up to. It doesn't matter to me that Pink may have been guilty of buying into those images in the past-WE ALL HAVE. So what! The majority of the time, Pink is challenging the stupidity and mindlessness of what we put in the limelight. At least she has the balls to turn around and challenge it. It doesn't matter if she's not the most intellectual person, she's using her fame to bring attention to this issue and it takes courage to go against the grain like that. BRAVO PINK!

choesnah Wed, Feb 8, 2006 at 07:29 AM EST

Pink T.H.I.N.K.S

Margaret Tue, Feb 7, 2006 at 08:07 PM EST

I liked this video. I think that Pink is using the medium of a funny video to get across a message. Technically the song isnt great, but the heart is there. While you are watching the same old jokes about paris and jessica you laugh, but deep down inside there is a string that tugs at the back of your heart because somewhere, sometime you have been there. I know that I have been in the position of envying the girl with large breasts. or the girl with better clothes, blond hair or a nice tan. The fact of the matter is that there is a need for a song like this. yes it is repititious (im sorry i spelled that wrong)and annoying, but so is seeing girls prancing around with their cookie cutter images. If the idea has been over done then why do we still see it happening? kudos to you pink for putting it out there again. it tugged my heartstrings and made me think and ps you have a great body and you are just as pretty as any jessica simpson or paris out there!

di di Tue, Feb 7, 2006 at 05:43 AM EST

Pink has never been a favorite, but I do really think that her song sends a good message to young girls. Everyone is knocking her for mocking pop when she is pop, but the fact of the matter is, that is all some people listen to. If some world renowned author writes a book about how American culture is morally decaying how many twelve year old girls are going to read it? Although I do admit the video has flaws, at least there is a chance Pink may get through to some young girl and help encourage her to use her mind and not just her body. When all a young girl has to base her self esteem upon is her looks she is doomed to a life of constant self criticism and doubt. Looks have their place, but girls need other aspirations in order to grow up to be well adjusted and happy adults.

terren Tue, Feb 7, 2006 at 12:37 AM EST

it`s not necessarily a great sounding song, but the lyrics are dead on with what girls should be realizing by now. that they don`t want to grow up to be a dumb, anorexic, drug-addicted whore.
more power to women, anyways.

Devy Mon, Feb 6, 2006 at 02:15 PM EST

I'm sorry but 'stupid girls' is the most mediocre song i'v heard in a long time. but then again pink hasn't exactly come out with musical gems ('get this party started' has to be one of the most annoying songs of the decade). after hearing so much about the video, my expectations were sky-high, but that song is just annoying. the parody on paris, jessica, etc. was funny but really it gets old. the media, snl, etc. endlessly makes a joke of these girls anyway, so why does pink think she's being so novel in her video? i know pink absolutely loves being the anti-britney but sometimes when i see ppl like avril lavigne n pink trying to give off this bad-girl punk image, i wanna laugh coz they don't realize how much they are a part of mainstream pop culture....

gini Mon, Feb 6, 2006 at 11:59 AM EST

i think it's a great song...i mean would you rather YOUR kids grow up thinking they had to be skinny and blonde to be successful?! i think pink is amazing shes like the spoken outcast which is like typical of a lot of kids to not be included in the superficial society of teenage life sorta saying its ok to be outcasted!!! it soo reminds me of an eminem video...i just hope pink doesnt try and replace him cos their styles are so different and nobody could ever fill his shoes!!!

david Sun, Feb 5, 2006 at 08:49 PM EST

Making fun of Paris Hilton and Jessica Simpson. Does anyone here beside me think this is incredibly cheap? The sad thing is that Pink probably thinks that she's doing something brave or original. But attacking Hollywood celebutantes is as cliched as it gets. Paris Hilton is superficial? Stop the presses!
Anyone who thinks Paris Hilton impersonations is funny must also think it hysterical to see a redneck get hit in the balls on America's Funniest Home Videos. In other words, we've all seen it too many times for it to be effective.

kelly Sun, Feb 5, 2006 at 01:44 PM EST

i really liked that video and the song but the part where they were puking in the sinks was really gross and i wish that wasnt in the video,i love pink because i look just like her and man i have the lines on my hips to but im not as fit as pink is but who cares and i think that Tom Brazoltin and Jason sound hott e-mail me fine_stuff69@hotmail.com

rachel Sun, Feb 5, 2006 at 01:26 PM EST

pink is the best!!! and she rocks i love this song and the video is awesome im a big fan of Pink
and shes epic

Me Sat, Feb 4, 2006 at 08:09 PM EST

Am I the only one who thinks this video is pretty harsh? Pink needs to get her facts straight. Bulimia is not just a matter of being skinny. It's a serious psychological and physical disease. I hope Pink realizes this and thinks before putting bullsh*t like this in any of her videos again.

Joany Sat, Feb 4, 2006 at 12:50 PM EST

finally when everyone is so sick of hearing the same ol about all these females that think looks, money rich parents are gonna get them somewhere but first in line to hit "sluts"
thats when PiNK comes out and speaks her mind, cause not all of us can do that. I'ts so bad ass that PiNK has got the power and strength to share that to world how stupid the B***hes are. so she has room to put in her opinion. PiNK is hot, she's is the shit and no on that video was awsome. MiSsUnDaZtOoD!

Seema Sat, Feb 4, 2006 at 12:40 PM EST

I like the way that it proves Pink has a really great body.

Aaron Sat, Feb 4, 2006 at 10:15 AM EST

I like the way that it proves Pink has a really great body.

Aaron Sat, Feb 4, 2006 at 10:13 AM EST

I like the way it shows Pink has a really great body.

Camila Fri, Feb 3, 2006 at 09:33 PM EST

I think pink has a point, but also, on mary kate olsen has completed a lot along with her sister ashley olsen, ever since they were little they have made many movies and have appeared on many shows, they own millions, they have their own company-dual star and are great in marketing, Paris hilton has done nothing she is famous for being stupid, sex video and just having money shes ridiculous, Lindsay Lohan is a great singer and i love her lyrics she writes them herself atleast, unlike other singers out there and jessia simpson is an air head her music sux and where pink is copying her on the car scene for dukes of hazzard is right, becuase jessica would do such a music video but while her and her sister [ashlee simpson] would not pose for rolling stone magazine in mud playing around becuase they want to "protect their good girl image" well i guess we can say jessica f***ed up badly for that one!

dee Fri, Feb 3, 2006 at 04:30 PM EST

I must have missed something because I don't think I've ever seen Pink be like the rest of the girls she was mocking, dog under her arm on a red carpet or not! She's always shown she's got a brain in her head nobel prize or not too! None of the girls she has decided to poke fun at has true talent and have not done much they can be proud of. How many of them can say they really know how to write music or play an instruement nevermind sing! Her video sends a good message that counteracts a lot of the "dumbification" (Simpsons humour) that we've seen on tv for the last 5 years or more! Go girl, show them someone has a brain in their heads!

The irony of them using sex to sell and that her video does the same thing is kinda funny though. But the message in the end should still be clear. She isn't afraid to look stupid for a few minutes to prove the point that a lot of other girls do look stupid without much effort or talent at all!

Gabi Thu, Feb 2, 2006 at 07:28 PM EST

nasty girl Thu, Feb 2, 2006 at 03:20 PM EST

For all those who don't know, Pink may have not been in her very own home sex video, but she sure had her lime light in the porn scene.

http://www.bangedup.com/post.php?media=4749 (not work safe)

She needs to hide her dumb shit before she picks on other people for stuff she has done too.

Jerry Thu, Feb 2, 2006 at 12:38 PM EST

I love it, i think it's about time someone got the right message out there, so that our friends, little sisters and we ourselves don't feel the need to be obsessed with what we look like and the way people portray us; its about who we are, thats what defines us. Unfortunately its too late for this message to make a difference to some people, but hopefully it'll help people in the future to stop destroying their lives to look like commercial barbie dolls. Im glad the girl at the end of the video choose the rugby ball x

Michelle Thu, Feb 2, 2006 at 12:10 PM EST

I think what pink is trying to tell people in her video is completly true. There are to many little girl's out there, trying to be perfect in everyway the celebrities are. There are little girls out there that are beautiful and they don't add up to these celeb's and so they think that they are worthless I totally agree with Pink in this decision.

pink was worng to take the mic outta the eating disorder ILLNESS known as bulimia, also i think its harsh that she takes the mic outta girls that juss lyk to dress up n feel gd bout themselves, i think shes juss jealous. also the girls she portrayed in her video r other girls idols. if some one lyk lindsay lohan dressed up as a grunger for her vid n took the mic outta it then u wuldnt b happy about that now wuld u, leave the girlie girls alone its not our fault we r pretty!!!

aud Wed, Feb 1, 2006 at 03:47 PM EST

Thank you PINK!! As I was watching the video, I said, thank g-d someone said something about this junk. I love this video and how stupid those "stupid girls" look...best part was the end when the little girl grabbed a football to play, not perfect physically enhanced barbie! I hope it makes an impact where it should-on young girls to strive to be themselves and be happy with that.
Pink for PRESIDENT!!

It's sad to see Gary susman has to tear appart a well thought out effort at something that needs be done . Girls in this age need to see that the Jessica's ( Simpson / Alba ) Represent rather unatainable and unhealthy standards .

Pink has always been one of the first to call a spade a spade ... you should ask her opinion on same sex marriage some time , Jlo and Brithey were the brunt of that one!
At any rate, Vocaly pink has progressed and I dont think the song is half bad. And where is he getting "Slumping Artist" from ... I seem to remember her last Album selling massive amounts. I also remember flipping radio stations and hearing "Get this party started" at least once an hour on every one ?

Please remove your head from the sand , and look at the issues before "Commenting" on anything ...

leah Tue, Jan 31, 2006 at 12:14 AM EST

FINALLY!!!! someone has shown the real side of those tacky tarts those gurls give all gurl bad names and yet we continue to idolise them and for young gurl dis was there role model wat they should aspire to be like. Caitlin Mon, Jan 30, 2006 at 08:20 PM EST

while of course almost everything almost every celebrity does is for attention, because, let's face it, that's their job, i still dug it. As someone who often gives in to the pressures of being pretty, it's kind of nice to know there's still someone out there who recognizes that, no matter how popular it has become, eating disorders and such image problems, really shouldn't be as acceptable and trendy as they have grown to be. and just a little side-note, pink did appear with a little dog under her arm at an awards show just like every other girl. yes, britney had a dog named bit-bit, paris had one called tinkerbell, and pink had one she named fucker. yea, she's um, she's definately just like all those beverly idiots.

Mary Mon, Jan 30, 2006 at 01:08 PM EST

she got them dead-on, mannn. i know about a million "stupid girls" and it's great to see that everyone else recognizes them, too. i thought the world was taken over. apparently not. awesome.

nails Mon, Jan 30, 2006 at 09:20 AM EST

It is relevant that Pinkie (now my hero) at one time had a tiny pooch under her arm herself. Pink sticks it to Hilton using the dog as a device, lampooning Hilton's
overall image. Additionally, Pink as with all of us, is not immune to being a stupid girl (as I'm sure she is aware), and that includes by extension (get it?) us guys. The
fact of that does not exclude her forever from voicing her disapproval.

And this I just love as it is especially vacuous. "As if to suggest that women are too possessed with looks, etc. to be interested in politics." Really dumb that. It is a
metaphor. Not that women should not be concerned about their looks and not that they should peruse politics, which as a trade itself deserves another lampooning
video by the Pink One.

The obvious statement is to not be overly obsessed with physical superficiality at the expense of a pursuit that is metaphysically more meaningful.
It would seem the author would love to stick it to Pink literally and out of sexual frustration adopts a cunty attitude.

The point that she herself by living in LA must somehow disqualifie her from critisizing the synthetic aspect of LA and our culture is assinine.

It parrallels the infantile mind set 'America Love It or Leave It"

Equally inane is the observation that the video is singularly an attempt for attention and a ploy to reverse slumping sales. How clever, no, how cute and irrelevant is this meaningless observation.

Michael Fri, Jan 27, 2006 at 11:15 AM EST

None of these other singers she's parodying would have the balls to make a video like this. Madonna would be proud.

samidae Fri, Jan 27, 2006 at 10:59 AM EST

Finally, that throaty awesomeness is back! Love the video and the message. Even if Pink has indulged a little in the crack buffet that is pop-culture, at least she has the sense to pull herself back and start telling the truth.
We will forget most of her peer long before we'll forget her bravery. You don't need the biggest song to tell the truth, just the right one. Bravo, Pink!

Beckfoloe Fri, Jan 27, 2006 at 09:38 AM EST

Finally! I thought the world had lost its mind. Let the backlash against these stupid, vapid, boring, shallow, sheltered, clueless, idiot blonds BEGIN! Why did it take so long. I was bored with it the day it began. Props to Pink for being the first to ridicule these dunces. As I guy I have to ask, ladies, why do you idolise them... they make you all look cheap and empty-headed. Blonds should be outraged.

lynny Fri, Jan 27, 2006 at 09:34 AM EST

Love it! I always liked Pink's voice and I think she maybe is not even saying she had never felt that way- like she needed bigger boobs or something. I thought everything she said was right on. I would like for my daughter to see this and listen to the song. It is terrifying to have a little girl these days. Good work, Pink!

Suta Fri, Jan 27, 2006 at 01:46 AM EST

I caught the video on YouTube, entirely by accident, and thought it was really clever. The song's of decent quality, and amplified by how entertaining the video is.

Admittedly I don't know so much about Pink, but to me she never seemed to be a peer to the famous dumb blondes of the pop genre. Better something like this comes from her; given her reputation for having an attitude, at least it's somewhat believable. Jessica, Britney and Lindsay could never get away with something like this.

David Fri, Jan 27, 2006 at 12:42 AM EST

Let me point out that Pink showed up to the MTV Movie Awards or VMAs a few years back (can't remember which one)with a tiny puppy under her arm. So she's lampooning something she once celebrated.

Fonzerelly Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 09:04 PM EST

The video was funny, but it's pretty obvious Pink is looking for controversy and attention as quickly as she can possibly get it. So as a result, she looks like somewhat of a stupid girl...a hot stupid girl... But it's cool that she's not afraid of the feedback she'll get.

brandon Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 08:54 PM EST

That video was almost as funny as Wedding Crashers!!!! good job Pink. I agree with everybody that it is time someone put these people in their place. Since when did you get famous for doing porn, being a drug addict, having an eating disorder, or being stupid. Great song too.

Michael Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 08:41 PM EST

This is definitely a slam-dunk video. It's her best one yet, most creative. The song is sort of cliche but who cares? It's fun! And she definitely brings that out in the video! Great storylines!

Chris Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 07:46 PM EST

I do find it an interesting topic for a video, but since when was Pink considered a true artist who did not do any of the things others like the Olsen twins have. She seems to contradict her behvavior and just does not work out.

Thad Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 07:33 PM EST

She's back and it's GREAT!!

Nicole Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 06:35 PM EST

Terrific video - I hope it gets lots of play on MTV so all the little girls who idolize Paris and Nicole and all the others will see it on a regular basis. I'm not a huge fan of the song - not much of a pop music fan. But the lyrics are great in terms of their message. Kudos Pink!

brandonk Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 05:11 PM EST

Pretty funny video. Anything that makes fun of stupid girls is fine with me.

Amy Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 04:51 PM EST

I'm not really for making fun of people, but the way celebs like Jessica Simpson and Paris Hilton act really upsets me. They have the right to act however they choose, but doubtful they would act the same when they were pre-teen. Do they realize young girls look up to them and want to act like them? Well, for Jessica and Paris young girls maybe aren't there main fan base, so maybe they feel there don't need to be a good role model for them. However, I remember seeing Lindsey Lohan on the cover EW naked in a Striptease-like pose, when she was 18. Teen/pre-teen girls are definitely her main base of fans, what kind of example is that?

Pink's video is funny, yet the truth hurts a little. It's sad that more emphasis is put on looking pretty than being smart. Jessica Simpson's popularity settles any dispute against this. I'm glad Pink is addressing the issue of Hollywood/celebs putting so much emphasis on image. I hope that Hollywood and celebs listen. I know it is an uphill battle.

Zachary Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 04:47 PM EST

This videos great. I love the satire in it and how she makes fun of all of them, especialy Paris Hilton who became famous for staring in a porn. At least Lindsay and Jessica have an actual career. Who was she pretending to be with 50 cent?

nathan Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 04:40 PM EST

I haven't seen it, but I just love to hear myself type.

jason Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 04:18 PM EST

i like the vido becuase as far as this country goes, i'm sick of people who just stnad there and are important people. people like the olsen twins and paris hilton make me wanna wretch. pink was tol what to do on her first album, that's why people may think she's a fake, but after that she did it her way. no, of course, she's no great humanitarian, but somebody has to let young girls know these "fakes" aren't what they appear to be

dma69 Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 04:13 PM EST

Pink may be a pop singer, but she at least stands out, goes against the grain, unlike the others. Video looks great.

Ep Sato Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 04:10 PM EST

I haven't seen the video, but saw the Olsen twin parody and got the giggles. All this time they were being called a pair of sweethearts, but the second they turned 18 one of them got real trashy in double quick time.

On the other hand, maybe a shopping cart filled with cans IS the perfect accesory for a pair of ugg boots.

Black B. Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 04:08 PM EST

This is why I love pop music. Pink gets to judge the girls soaping up cars in bikinis, but still gets to show off how hot she looks soaping up a car in a bikini. Very Jewel, two years ago.

amber Thu, Jan 26, 2006 at 03:47 PM EST

It's about time Pink came back, i love how she just doesn't give a F*** about what other people think and she just says how she feels!
