when i first saw this video, i thought it was stupid and weird. But after forcing myself to watch it again, i soon became a huge fan of the video, the song, and Fiona!

This video was directed by Michael Blieden -- who also directed Zach Galifianakis is the film and Comedy Central show "The Comedians Of Comedy". You can check it out on Netflix. Great stuff.

Well I loved this video. It's original and funny, but at the same time simple (in a good way). It represents Fiona a lot more than other videos.

This video is so fresh, its almost too good to be true. The fact that Fiona is not only writing stuff above the so called "norm" (by which is meant processed, over produced "rock" music easily formed for Top 40 success) but is also taking her videos in a more creative route (taking a step away from glossy coreography and over done make up) to get a hit says it all. This video needs nation wide attention!

the video is hilarious and impromptu. it shows a whimsical side of fiona that was lost behind her late nineties tortured artist veneer. the sheer reality of this video does this song justice even though its events (or lack thereof) are completely irrelevant to the subject matter. and of course the song, is brilliant. it boasts fiona in top lyrical and ivory tickling form weaving her way through a stop start staccato arrangement. syncopated drum rhythms provided by none other than ?uestlove from the roots. a refreshing lack of theatrics make this an enjoyable watch.

I beleive there is a bit of bias on my side too: I love Fiona Apple, AND I recently fell in love with Zack Galifianakis after seeing his Comedy Central stand-up. This concept (and the sheer fact of Fiona and Zack in a video together) is indeed simply bizarre--exactly why I love it so much! It exudes an offbeat humor that is just zack's style (if you've seen him do is ballerina-esque dance to the song "Eternal Flame" in his stand-up, you know this already.) And oddly enough, it's Fiona's style too. Frankly, I just can't stop watching this video!!

Well, I'm biased (Fiona Apple has been my favorite artist since I was 14 :D), but I think the video is fantastic. It's completely bizarre, but oddly funny. I completely agree: it grows on you. Galifianakis is hilarious, and I love that Fiona now has enough of a sense of humor to come up with this. You can tell she's having fun, which you don't often see.

i've loved this clip since i got the extraordinary machine dualdisc. who else starts a song with "the early cars already are drawing deep breaths past my door/and last night's phrases, sick with lack of basis, are still writhing on my floor." with this video (and the album), fiona doesn't seem to take herself so seriously anymore. that's just wonderful. yes, wonderful.

Have you seen the options? Compared to what else is out there, Not About Love might as well be Citizen Kane. This is a unique video with personality, and it fits the song in a great way. Ashley, Lyndsey, even Beyonce cannot do this, because they aren't truly the brains behind their art. Only a singer comfortable in her own skin, and with her own performance, can come across and loose and free as Fiona Apple does in this video.
