Hearing the word "Midstates" usually makes me think of friendly people and the greasy lovin' of Steak and Shake. But now I have another reason to love it, thanks to the Chicago based Brit-pop-sounding band of the same name. Their spacey orchestral synths and spot-on beats remind me of the music I heard the first time I tuned in Dave Kendall on MTV's 120 Minutes. Check out "Till Dead" from their new album, Boxing Twilight (Feb. 21).
