Yeah! and Aquaman series would sure be nice! But do they have to bane the character from Justice League! The animated series is way more true to the original comicst than any Smallvile and Lois & Clark style series. And Aquaman was gaining a lot of respect as a serious character there, he was a sovereign king with steel neves that was often mistakenly viewed as as an incredibly powerful eco-terrorist whit the power of a huge nation behind him. On the contrary, portraying the character as a college ecologist might not be the best idea for gaining respect for Aquaman on long term.

The decision to keep the Aquaman back-story separate from the one started in the Smallville TV series seems… well a bit odd to me, considering they will likely be forfeiting a great deal of potential cross promotion potential.

In any case I look forward to the new series, and hey, maybe they will do a Flash spin-off series next!

if the invisible man can be re-invented time and again for tv (three to date: the orig show, "gemini man" in the early 80s, and the recent version from sci-fi channel), why not a sea-breathing adonis like "man from atlantis"? i'd say bring it on and good luck, aquaman!!!

Hell to the yes! I've been waiting and wishing for a non-humorous portrayal of Aquaman my whole life! Okay, I'll admit I'm a big geek Aquaman fan. But ladies, wasn't he a hottie? Altho I'd want a different actor. Mr. American Idol was a bit lame. I did like the vigilante environmentalist touch to the Smallville episode.

Aquaman works better as a supporting character for another as he did in Smallville. He's more ridiculed anyway and likely wouldn't last a season on his own series. What about the kid Flash they had last season? That was a better episode and the special FX were much cooler than they were in the 90's Flash series. They'd probably have to recast the actor for a younger guy if they want to maintain the youth appeal. But they should keep him with the same rough edges like the did in Smallville as he develops into the good guy the Flash will eventually be.

I saw the first ep of Tarzan, only because my roommate had the hots for the guy playing Tarzan. The show was such a bore, I passed out after about 15 minutes.

The only people who can give Aquaman a decent shot at film fame are DC Comics. Give him a decent writer (Peter David), a great artist (Oscar Jimenez, Jr.), and for heaven sake, give him back his hand (at least for a while)! Oh, and the blue costume, not the loud green and orange one, would be a more practical underwater choice.

Don't count on Batman. There was talk of having a young Bruce guest a la Flash and Aquaman, which could have potentially been spun off, but that was nixed when Batman Begins became serious -- and with that movies' success, a small TV Batman might not happen soon.

What was compelling about the episode was the interaction with Clark and the funny nods to his costume. But there is not enough material in Aquaman to sustain a full season of likeable plots-- believe me.

Now, Gotham City would be a hell of a series, if Batman Begins hadn't happened. Of all the possible DC series to make, wow... I can't think of one that could succeed where "Birds of Prey" failed... but I would love to see a CGI miniseries of Kingdom Come, if Mark Waid would write and Alex Ross would oversee the art direction...

What would be infinitely more appealing is if the production of an X-Men movie was worked around the filming of a NEW MUTANTS television show, with Patrick Stewart doing less and providing voiceover at the end, and the action centering on the kids, with movie guest stars (Jackman, Paquin, Cumming, etc.) to sell it all...

I'll take just about anything AQUAMAN these days. The ongoing series is really quite excellent, and the potential for a new show is there, provided the iron out the wrinkles in the character's appearance in SMALLVILLE. Loved the episode, but there was obviously some tweaks that need to be made for any future appearances.

Aquaman? Are Ju Kidding Me Meng? If anyone in DC deserves a series or a movie, it's former Green Lantern/barkeeper Guy Gardner. If not him, The Main Man Lobo should get a series. They could do a road show, like Renegade, with Rob Zombie cruising the country on a Harley and kicking butt at every stop!

Aquaman? If they had a big enough budget and didn't care whether or not the project sucked.

What about the Green Arrow? They could get Kevin Smith to direct a few episodes of that show...

I agree with SuperHeroic on the issue of needing major water action to not pull off a blonde Smallville. Aquaman would be a fresh start for DC on WB. They may want to consider focusing on having the backdrop in Atlantis and not land.

Better yet......lets get a Batman show going on WB. Been lobbying that one for a while!

While I enjoyed the episode of Smallville that featured "Aquaman," I wouldn't recommend it as a series. The actor wasn't very good, either. An Aquaman movie would be cool, though, especially if they "did it right."

Aquaman catches such hell for what could be a cool costume if given enough thought. Alex Ross has made Artie look wicked awesome, and he's wearing the green tights.

My worry about a series involves how they're going to be able to pull off the underwater action. If they beach him too often, it'll just be a Wet Blonde Smallville.

Aquaman should go in a more Batman Begins direction than Smallville if only because the character is something of a hard sell as light teen-angst TV drama. Lop off his hand and put Branagh in the suit.

Could be an interesting show if great supporting characters are used; and Aquaman's willingness to blow up a lab for the greater good could provide for some interesting struggles. But the whole 'surfer dude' thing didn't really work for me (I am referring specifically to the 'Smallville' appearance in this post, not to the comics)
