'Herbie': Fully boycotted?

141922__herbie_l_1Two major theater chains in Germany are just saying ''nein!'' to Herbie: Fully Loaded, which is slated for an Aug. 4 release date in Europe, and others are considering pulling the plug on the film as well. Put yourself to the test and see if you can guess why.

A) They're sick and tired of tabloid headlines about Lindsay Lohan's weight.
B) They object to the fact that the film's DVD release will come only four months after its theatrical debut.
C) The film's predecessor, 1968's The Love Bug, sparked bloody riots in Hamburg, Berlin, and Cologne among Germans who resented they couldn't get the Beetle in their homeland.
D) They don't care for a talking car.
E) They object to the fact that the film's producers used non-union labor for several scenes shot in Canada.

Get the answer after the jump.

Answer: B) German chains Greater Union Filmpalast and Cinemaxx say movie distributors' desire to maximize profits by shortening the window between theatrical and DVD releases hurts their bottom line -- thus the boycott.

Who cares about Paris anymore...or more important AT ALL? I can't wait till she becomes old news. And who cares if Ms. Lohan looses or gains 10 pounds?? Average people do it all the time. I think there should have been an "F" choice. Because making this movie ruined a great classic. And the only reason Paris is "famous" is cause of her daddy. At least her sister is amrt and staying out of the spot light.

Why go to her movies when her tabloid exploits are free and more interesting than an old Beetle? Mean Girls appears to have been a documentary on her life rather than a work of fiction.

I cheated and read the answer before writing this, but I would have guessed "C" just for the hell of it. "-) Personally, I could have done without "A" but it does raise a good observation - the overexposure of Ms. Lohan. I think she's a good kid who's just getting a lot of bad publicity and, I never would have thought I'd say this, but I liked a recent article in which they said she was copying Paris Hilton's style. Whatever you can say about the Hilton woman she does have style and it's decidedly better than what Lindsay was coming up with on her own.

I think it's "B" 'cuz it is coming out on dvd soon. It's a shame that your magazine even put "A" as a choice. Just fuels all the people who dislike Ms. Lohan to choose that one. Was it necessary to do that?

I think "A" is the reason movie goers are boycotting the movie.
