Patton Oswalt searches for the first 'First!' in Webbys promo

History books are filled with accounts of famous firsts — the first women’s rights convention, the first World War, the first man to walk on the moon. But who was the first Internet user to read a blog post, then scroll down to the comments section and furiously type a simple message: “FIRST”? Comedian, Ratatouille star, and amateur fake historian Patton Oswalt may have just discovered the answer.

An Internet hero in his own right, Oswalt is hosting the 16th Annual Webby Awards next Monday. The following FunnyOrDie video, which dramatizes his quest to discover the first “First,” serves as a promo for his hosting gig — but it’s also pretty great in its own right. Watch for yourself below.

Since President Barack Obama’s historic declaration that he believes same-sex couples should be legally allowed to married, he has raised $15 million for his campaign and welcomed a flood of support from celebrities and liberal politicians alike. Add Jay-Z to the pro-Obama camp. The rap mogul told CNN he’s with Obama on this issue. “I’ve always thought [the fight over same-sex marriage] was something that was still holding the country back,” he said. “What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. [It] is no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.” READ FULL STORY »

Once was first, Nice Work was next, and now two more of this year’s major Tony Award nominees have announced plans to launch U.S. tours in 2013.

The Ricky Martin-led revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita will kick off its first national tour in the fall at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island (although the inclusion of Martin on the tour is relatively unlikely). As Evita finds out what’s new with rural Rhode Island, the vivid, imaginative Peter and the Starcatcher will be set sail on its first tour at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in Denver, Colorado in August.

Kardashians on Leno: Kourtney blames her pregnancy weight on 'too much In-N-Out' (she means burgers!) -- VIDEO

This just in: Kourtney Kardashian only recently had her first In-N-Out experience. And she loved it! Or was it Five Guys? Man, what will these kids come up with next?

The reality TV sisters stopped by The Tonight Show last night, and Kourtney discussed pregnancy cravings and her impending labor and delivery. Apparently momager Kris Jenner is still negotiating the 3-D cinematic labor doc’s distribution rights because Kourtney wouldn’t reveal whether she’d share her second child’s birth on Keeping Up With the Kardashians like she did with baby Mason.

Youngest sister Khloe was on hand to provide a wry kommentary as usual, though she also talked about her move back from Dallas with her husband, exiled NBA player Lamar Odom. When Leno asked Kim about Kanye West’s “Too Cold,” well you’ll just have to watch to see her ditzy debate about whether the song is indeed written about her. (Hint to Kim: It is.) Watch the interview below. READ FULL STORY »

'Annie' on Broadway: Meet the orphans! -- EXCLUSIVE

Finding the girl to play the titular orphan in Annie is hard enough, and producers of the upcoming Broadway revival certainly found a budding star in young Lilla Crawford (whom we interviewed back in April). But no production of Annie is complete without her familiar gang of orphan friends, of course!

Entertainment Weekly has an exciting first look at the bright group of young girls who will be joining Crawford when the classically optimistic musical (directed by James Lapine and choreographed by Andy Blankenbuehler) hits Broadway this fall. Click through our gallery for an exclusive peek at the hard knock lifers! READ FULL STORY »

Tonys 2012: Six-time nominee John Lithgow on original plays and a modern-day ‘Columnist’

John Lithgow is already a legend, but he keeps getting more legendary — racking up a sixth Tony nomination for his titular turn in the Manhattan Theatre Club production of David Auburn’s The Columnist. Throughout a lengthy career in film and television, Lithgow has remained a native to the stage, earning his first Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play in 1973’s The Changing Room and his second for Best Actor in a Musical for 2002’s Sweet Smell of Success. EW sat down with the decorated theater veteran to talk Tony nominations, what it means to win and whether his eponymous Columnist could last in the digital age.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: You’ve been through this process so many times before—do you manage to learn something new during Tony season each year?
Mainly people ask me to talk about myself, and there’s very little about myself that I haven’t already learned. But this is special this year, I think, because every one of the award nominations I’ve had, of course, have been defined by the role that I’ve been nominated for, and this year it’s for The Columnist. But what absolutely thrills me is that this role and this play are being honored with [these awards], and they are brand new. It’s a premiere that was just sort of unleashed on the public on Broadway, which I think is incredibly courageous and adventurous. In this particular case, when nobody has seen this play before—it didn’t come from London, it didn’t come from regional theater or off Broadway—I think that’s what makes me most proud this time around.

Chris Harrison blogs 'The Bachelorette' season premiere

chris-harrison

It feels like it’s been a while, so I’m excited to say “Welcome to a new season of The Bachelorette.” As you will see in so many ways over the course of this season, this Bachelorette is unlike any you have ever seen before. This goes for both the season and the woman. First of all, we kicked things off in Charlotte, North Carolina, which of course is Emily’s hometown. At first I wasn’t sure I loved the idea of leaving the traditional ‘Bachelor Pad’ in Los Angeles. It’s become such a recognizable starting point and a big part of our show the last several years. But the moment we rolled into Charlotte I quickly realized it was the best way to start Emily’s season.

Emily is so unlike any other Bachelorette we’ve ever had so we really needed to think outside the box to make the show look and feel as special as she is. For me, the best part about shooting in Charlotte was the way we were received by the hometown crowd. The people of Charlotte welcomed us with open arms, and I can’t thank them enough for the hospitality. Not only did we shoot in Emily’s hometown, but for the first time ever, she actually got to live at home. This not only allowed her to keep being the fantastic mother she is to her daughter Ricki, but also allowed her to relax and enjoy a new kind of home-court advantage.  READ FULL STORY »

'The Bachelorette' season premiere: 'Emily's fiance, Ricky, died in a plane crash, and so I think she deserves the best'

Nothing but the best for the Tragic Single Mom, right rose lovers? And by “best,” I mean guys who bring one or more of the following to the opening-night cocktail party (SPOILER ALERT if you’ve not yet watched tonight’s episode): a soul patch, a skateboard, a severe brain injury, bobblehead dolls, a beat box, a helicopter, photos of their six (!) kids. Yes, Emily’s Bachelorette “journey” got off to quite a colorful — if somewhat drama-free — start tonight. Stay tuned for my full recap in a few hours (UPDATE: Click here for Kristen’s full Bachelorette season premiere recap), and in the meantime let me know what you thought of the Southern-fried season premiere. Are you liking the new Casa Bachelorette (which will heretofore be known as the Potential Husband Plantation)? Did you agree with Emily’s First Impression Rose choice? And how on earth does Jef get his hair so high? Post your thoughts below!
