'House' recap: Are people still pulling for Huddy?

Last night’s House had a too-on-the-nose “this patient is like me” message (genius with a drug problem), a Chase story line that’s increasingly difficult to care about, and a weird turning point for House and Cuddy. Not for the characters House and Cuddy, really, but for us the audience: Do we actually want these two to get together or what?

Once upon a time, I rooted for this relationship, but I’m getting to a point where I don’t know what it is I’d be pulling for — and I can’t tell if the show’s creative team knows, either. What’s here? What’s at the center of this relationship, and what is it that I’d even want to see the show explore if theses characters ever got together? (Read full post)

'True Blood' busts: Bite?

Finally, I can act out my Eric/Sookie scenes with something marginally more than my imagination: True Blood “busts” are in production and should be available over the summer. You can buy Eric, Bill, or Sookie, plus a Merlotte’s sign. The figures cost $69.99 and the sign costs $89.99, which… seems like a lot? Kind of?

If I’m going to pay $70 for a statuette, I want a full-body option so I can dress it in Barbie clothes so I can make Slezak put it in “Doll Bachelor” so it doesn’t disrupt my careful height-order system for desk dolls because I just do, that just makes more sense, jeeze, get off my back already. They’re limited edition and all, though, so there’s that.

Man, I miss True Blood. Would you shell out for this statues, PopWatchers, or are you biding your time in other ways?

Clip du jour: 'Meet the Putties'

Depending on your knowledge of Power Rangers, you’ll either find this hilarious, or you’ll have know idea what’s going on. I, for one, am dying.

Okay, PopWatchers, when was the last time you heard a Rita Repulsa joke?

Darth Vader shoes: I want them (alive)

When I saw these Darth Vader sneakers I almost had a heart attack out of sheer desire. (Though the Storm Trooper ones are pretty amazing, too.) But then I thought of my already ridiculous number of Star Wars possessions and tchotckes — Darth Tater, I love you — and realized I probably won’t shell out for these kicks. At least not when so many other amazing options abound. It really is useless to resist! (Read full post)

'Letters to Juliet' trailer: I wonder if love will triumph in this movie

Categories: Film, Movie Trailers

Ugh, I hate myself for this being true, but: I will totally go see Letters to Juliet. Romance Travel! Amanda Seyfried! I’ve seen Mamma Mia! more than once, so I guess it’s the natural evolution of my own shame spiral.

I’m really curious what could possibly be in the movie that wasn’t revealed in this trailer, so I’m counting on you, PopWatchers, to come up with potential plot twists. Dazzle me! [via NY Mag]

“Dago-Badass” is what I’m naming my first child. This video rules:

Will we ever tire of Star Wars jokes, PopWatchers? Maybe. But not today.

'30 Rock' recap: Green pees

Categories: 30 Rock, TV Recap

Last night’s 30 Rock reminded us of the importance of family, clued us in that the property of urine that makes flowers grow, and taught us all some valuable lessons about rules in Italy. Here are the 10 best lines from “Sun Tea.”

“Holding up one finger to get someone stop talking? He invented that.” — Jack, who puts it to perfect use (Read full post)

'The Office' recap: You're not the boss of me

Categories: TV Recap, The Office

A limo ride, a recycling mythical beast-turned-robot, a former senator, and a serious lack of line-management skills: “Shareholders Meeting” brought us back to the nitty gritty of actual corporate life, and it wasn’t pretty. The life I mean. The episode was…okay. Is it bad that I missed Jan for a little bit? Anyway, forget the town car and hop in. (Read full post)

John Oliver's stand-up series: Would you rather see him do more?

Everyone’s favorite British Daliy Show correspondent John Oliver is getting his own show, though tragically it’s not as good as it sounds: He’s hosting a six-episode stand-up series that includes him but also includes a bunch of other comedians. I kind of wish Oliver had a Colbert-style spin-off, but until that day comes — I’m holding out hope — I’ll settle for regular stand-up performances. Especially because I know the first episode includes this bit in which Oliver sings:

How do I know? Um, because I was at the taping for this show a few weeks ago. (And not as press! As a fan.) Oliver was terrific — though Nick Kroll had one of the best sets I’ve ever seen from anyone, ever — but I can’t help thinking that a strict stand-up series isn’t a full use of his talents. I’d love to see him with a week-in-review series, where he can do longer-form segments with more recurring bits than he does on TDS.

What would you cast John Oliver in, PopWatchers?

Clip du jour: Lin-Manuel Miranda's Alexander Hamilton rap

Hey, attention everyone: Lin-Manuel Miranda is the awesomest. This is the best history rap maybe ever:

I also loved his jam from the season premiere of House — not the one from the talent show, but the one that played over the closing credits: (Read full post)
