Heidi Klum and Seal share their love with us all through a reality show. Aww!

Heidi-sealImage Credit: Arnold Turner/WireImage.comHeidi Klum and Seal will show us all how romance is done with a new reality series for Lifetime called Love’s Divine, according to People. The supermodel and the musician — who just renewed their vows for the fifth anniversary in a row — will help other couples celebrate dream weddings and other romantic moments, in hopes of inspiring viewers with all that is good and pure and sweet in the world. “[Seal and I] make special moments into something big and noticeable for everyone in our family,” Klum tells People. “For birthdays, we handcraft special cards and gifts. We hang welcome signs when Dad comes home from long travels or when the tooth fairy comes at night. With a family of six, there is always something to make, create, and do together.”

Yep, it’s true — there are zero things to be cynical about here. This sounds like the pixie angel fairy cupid dust of reality shows. Like a kiss from a rose, even. (Though if anyone ever figures out what the lyrics of that song are about, I’d love to know.) But will you watch, PopWatchers? Or do you prefer your reality trashy and nasty and devoid of true love?

Katherine Heigl watch: She started not liking Izzie ... did you?

Katherine-HeiglImage Credit: Ron Tom/ABCOne minute she’s submitting herself for Emmy consideration despite appearing in less than half of the last Grey’s Anatomy season, the next minute she’s telling the world she wasn’t so fond of her character, Izzie Stevens, by the time she left the hit drama. “I felt very protective of Izzie,” she told USA Today. “I really loved her. I felt she was an admirable woman who certainly made mistakes. But I was starting to not like her, and that bothered me.” That Katherine Heigl — there really is no telling what polarizing thing she’s going to say or do next. Though at least she’s self-aware: “I’ve tried to keep my mouth closed for a minute, and I can’t,” Heigl told the newspaper. “At one point I got so paranoid and afraid, and I was qualifying everything I said and apologizing for everything. I realized it was ridiculous.”

Fair enough. Nothing wrong with speaking your mind. I’m going to respectfully disagree with her, however, on Izzie’s non-likability. And to be honest, I’m a little surprised to find myself defending Dr. Stevens — my first instinct was that I, too, hated her, but it turns out that upon reflection, I just hated her storylines. Why is Charlie Sheen's career scandal-proof?

Even in the bacchanalian world of Hollywood, few are more closely associated with the excesses of fame than Charlie Sheen — from his cameo in madam Heidi Fleiss’ little black book to chronic public drug battles to more than one ex alleging, at one time or another, that they’d been either threatened or physically harmed by his outbursts. Now, the Two and a Half Men star is likely to serve a plea-bargained 30-day jail sentence in connection with a Christmas Day fight in Aspen with wife Brooke Mueller, People.com reports, with prosecutors dropping the felony menacing charge against him for allegedly pulling a knife on his spouse. (The two are now reportedly reconciled after both spent time in rehab earlier this year.) With presumed good behavior, Sheen will be out in about two weeks.

So why does the 44-year-old actor’s life-long career seem to be built of Teflon? READ FULL STORY »

'Bachelorette' instant reaction: The guys get catty, hooray!

Some true front-runners emerged, Ty played the guitar some more, Craig R. made yet another “Rated ____” pun, and much, much male flesh was shown thanks to a “sexy guy calendar” swimsuit shoot. (We also spent a lot of time admiring Ali’s abs.) But mostly, this week was about Craig M. and his hair vs. Jonathan the Weatherman and his insecurities. Which was just fine with us — at least for now.

The full recap will be up soon, but if you’ve already watched and want to weigh in on the fallout of The Bachelorette‘s first guy-on-guy smackdown of the season, read on after the jump for more. [SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you've already watched Monday's Bachelorette premiere. Seriously.]

Jesse James 'Nightline' interview: A sad ending to a sad story

Jesse James finally spoke publicly about being, as he said, “the most hated man in the world” for cheating on “America’s sweetheart” Sandra Bullock in an interview with Nightline‘s Vicki Mabrey. In the exhaustingly inevitable end to the past year’s second-most-shocking cheating scandal, he took responsibility for his actions (“I took a perfect marriage and a perfect wife and the perfect life and stepmother and threw it away because of my actions”). But he also claimed it was a lack of self-esteem, brought on by a childhood of abuse, that led to his eventual betrayal of Bullock that marred her post-Oscar glow. “I grew up with a huge amount of shame and fear and abandonment on my shoulders from a very young age and I think…the way my mind rationalized [cheating on Bullock], ‘Well, you know, I might as well do whatever I can to like run her off cause she is going to find out what I am anyway and leave me anyway,’” he told Mabrey. He broke down, in particular, when noting that his own daughter is now the age he was when his father broke his arm. What he learned in rehab, which he checked into after news of the scandal broke, was simple, he said, and he repeated it often: “I think I do things to sabotage my life.”

He slogged through his childhood abuse admission (which his father denied to ABC News), and then onto his own denial that he was a Nazi sympathizer (allegations that came about after a photograph surfaced of him giving a Nazi salute): “The truth about it, it was a joke that was probably pretty funny at my house with a bunch of friends, but it was not funny.” (He also added that he felt it was the context of the scandal that made the photo seem far worse than it was intended: “People were out for blood, and that gave it to them.”) So many uncomfortable revelations, and for what — besides, of course, trying to clear his name on the Nazi thing — I’m not sure. '10 Things I Hate About You' finale: Buddhist storylines, 'The Biggest Poser,' and other awesome things that make us hate this show's cancellation

10-Things-Hate-showImage Credit: ABC Family10 Things I Hate About You wrapped up its under-appreciated one-season run on ABC Family last night, and, quite frankly, I don’t know what went wrong here. The dialogue snapped, the plotlines crackled, and the characters popped — not easy to do in the tired high-school genre. It had the name recognition of the beloved Julia Stiles/Heath Ledger movie but didn’t get bogged down in its legacy. The cast — Lindsey Shaw, Meaghan Jette Martin, Ethan Peck, dad Larry Miller — couldn’t have been better. I know, I know, these things happen to good shows all the time. I just want my eulogy to be complete. READ FULL STORY »

'Bachelorette' premiere instant reaction: Loving love for 'the right reasons'

Ali-BacheloretteImage Credit: Rick Rowell/ABCTonight we learned, mostly, that love is important and Ali was a horrible, stupid person for ever thinking otherwise and she’s awfully lucky that The Bachelor/Bachelorette is so darn forgiving because seriously, love conquers all, and if you don’t think so, you better reprioritize your life. Like she did. Because she is good and right and true now.

Oh, also: She quit her job for this, so anyone who isn’t there for “the right reasons” is in big, big trouble. That means you, Professional Wrestler Guy, Weatherman, and Dude with McDreamy Hair. The full recap, complete with detailed analysis of the standouts (and the just-plain-weirdos), will be up soon, but if you’ve already watched and want to weigh in on how the first batch of roses fell, read on after the jump for more. [SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you've already watched Monday's Bachelorette premiere.]

'Grey's Anatomy' finale: Remember where it all began...

If you’re like us, you watched last night’s wrenching Grey’s Anatomy finale wondering: Where the heck did all this gunman’s rage come from? Well, it began among much sexier storylines such as Alex’s secret brother showing up, Callie pining for a baby, and April crushing on Derek. In fact, you’ll see from this clip (from the April 1 episode “Sympathy for the Parents”) that April and Lexie could barely wait to bolt from the room when future hospital-shooter Gary Clark was getting the news about his wife’s euthanasia wishes — and it wasn’t even because they were so emotionally drained from his pain, but because they were itching to talk more about April having the hots for Lexie’s brother-in-law. The Gary Clark stuff starts around 2:30 here: READ FULL STORY »

Miss USA controversy: Did her crown come straight from the PC police?

Rima-FakihImage Credit: Denise Truscello/WireImage.comThe inevitable time has come for certain conservative commentators to level charges of reverse-racism at Rima Fakih’s Miss USA win. The Lebanese-born immigrant, who was representing Michigan in the pageant, became the first Arab-American to win the crown last night.

Mere hours later, the backlash began. Pundit Daniel Pipes posited an “odd form of affirmative action” on his blog, noting the “surprising frequency of Muslims winning beauty pageants.” (His examples: a 2007 America’s Junior Miss, a 2006 Miss England, and a 2005 Miss Nottingham. Yes, sir, the takeover is staggering.) Fox News, meanwhile, undermined her win by questioning whether, essentially, she got it by default after the blond Miss Oklahoma, Elizabeth Woolard, spoke out in favor of Arizona’s controversial anti-immigration law — when asked about it during the interview portion by judge/Office star Oscar Nunez — by defending “states’ rights.” Woolard ended the night as first-runner-up, which, for some observers, seemed to echo Carrie Prejean’s fate last year after her answer reflected her opposition to gay marriage. Added Fox’s account: “Fakih, an Arab-American from Dearborn, Michigan, took home the crown, despite nearly tripping on her evening gown.” Other web chatter today brings us everything from evidence that she won a pole-dancing contest in college — while fully clothed in a tank top and shorts, as if just coming from gym class, which seems pretty moot after this pageant-sanctioned lingerie shoot — to weird, baseless accusations of ties to terrorists.

All this sturm und drang over a beauty contest run by Donald Trump.

First: Really, anyone’s questioning whether this woman is pretty enough to win a beauty contest? READ FULL STORY »

Fox's new fall schedule: Why we're already psyched about their comedies (for starters, Martha Plimpton and Keri Russell are involved!)

Keri-Russell-Martha-PlimptonImage Credit: Anthony G. Moore/PR Photos; David Gabber/PR PhotosThe closest we TV geeks get to the wager-on-your-favorites fun of sports is the networks’ upfronts week, in which they announce their fall schedules to advertisers and we pick which horses we’re backing and which we already hate (based solely, and possibly unfairly, on fleeting clips and the pedigrees of those involved). And I’ve picked my first favorite filly (dropping distracting metaphor … now): Fox’s Glee-anchored Tuesday night, which will include new sitcoms Raising Hope and Running Wilde. Why? I’m glad you asked:

1. I will always stand behind the little-show-choir-show-that-could.

2. Raising Hope is a dysfunctional family comedy from Greg Garcia, who brought us the wonderfully fresh-at-the-time My Name Is Earl; and it stars Martha Plimpton (soooo good on The Good Wife this season — and in The Goonies!) and Cloris Leachman (so good on Dancing With the Stars, and I don’t say that of many).

3. Better still, Running Wilde comes to us from Arrested Development‘s Jim Vallely, Mitch Hurwitz, and Will Arnett. It stars Arnett as a playboy with a Peter Pan complex who’s struggling to grow up to win over his childhood sweetheart, a do-gooder played by (swoon) Keri Russell. READ FULL STORY »
