Stars of current hits like Scandal and Nashville mingled with the stars of ABC’s next crop of shows Tuesday night at ABC and EW’s upfronts party in New York. More importantly, we spotted Scandal’s Tony Goldwyn giving showrunner Shonda Rhimes a loving kiss on the top of her head. Typical Fitz; make us swoon, why don’t you?

ABC’s new series include Rhimes’ college-set How to Get Away With Murder and Oscar winner John Ridley’s American Crime. The new shows aren’t all crime dramas though — Cristela, a sitcom that follows a law student and her Mexican-American family, and Black-ish, a comedy about a family’s relationship with racial and cultural identity, are just a couple of the more lighthearted options ABC will be rolling out later this year.

Although the event was all about new beginnings, in the spirit of finale season, we asked stars of ABC’s current and upcoming ABC shows about their favorite TV endings. The Sopranos and M*A*S*H were popular choices for all-time favorite finales, but there were some surprises too — read on to see who chose Golden Girls as their top pick:

Bellamy Young (Scandal): “Probably Six Feet Under, because my friends and I had always gathered to watch the show every week and it really just brought everything together so beautifully. It was very satisfying.”

Jeff Perry (Scandal): “I know a lot of people were angry at The Sopranos, but I thought it was brilliant.”

Darby Stanchfield (Scandal): “Probably The Sopranos. I loved how it ended. I thought it was kind of brave and edgy to end without telling you everything.”

Tony Goldwyn (Scandal): “Probably the series finale of Breaking Bad. It was perfect.”

Guíllermo Diaz (Scandal): Golden Girls.”

Shonda Rhimes (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away With Murder): “I’m going to go out of the box and say that the Angel finale is my favorite series finale ever. Because it’s weird.”

Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder): “My favorite probably was M*A*S*H, back in the day. It was great television.”

Mark Hildreth (Resurrection): “I love the Lost finale. You know what I liked about it? It didn’t answer any questions. And I love that. Some people are annoyed, they’re like, “but I need to know what’s happening!” It’s like, no, no, that’s the whole idea is you have to go home and figure the questions out for yourself.”

Will Chase (Nashville): M*A*S*H. I grew up watching M*A*S*H, my dad watched M*A*S*H. It’s awesome.”

Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish): “I think Six Feet Under was probably one of the best finales I’ve ever seen.”

Cristela Alonzo (Cristela): “My favorite one is actually the end of The Bob Newhart Show. The last episode, he wakes up and he’s in his first TV series with his first TV wife and he realizes that his second TV show was all a dream. So amazing.”

Andrew Leeds (Cristela): Wonder Years. It’s very moving.”

Allyn Rachel (Selfie): The Wire.”

Jake McDorman (Manhattan Love Story): “The British Office. The Christmas special? It’s great.”

John Ridley (American Crime): “I’d have to go back to, like, M*A*S*H, Mary Tyler Moore, Cosby Show, shows like that. I would have to lean toward things that influenced me back in the day.”
