High schooler tries to get out of finals with Twitter

Kids these days!

The latest trend among high schoolers is to try getting out of finals using Twitter. Unfortunately, that method isn’t as effective as they may hope.

Andrew Muennink, a senior at Texas’s Round Rock High School, recently sent out a photo with art teacher Cindy House. The two are shaking hands in front of a whiteboard reading “15,000 RTs and no art final” — meaning, of course, that if Muennink’s photo was retweeted 15,000 times, he’d be safe from the test.

The photo was retweeted 15,000 times (and before the May 23 deadline House gave him, too) — but Muennink has to take his final after all. “Students of Round Rock High School in Texas will be taking exams no matter how many retweets any student receives,” JoyLynn Occhuiuzzi, Round Rock Independent School District spokeswoman, said in an official statement, according to Business Insider.

Before he found out the bad news though, Muennink used Twitter to support other high schoolers looking to get out of their exams by retweeting some copycats:

No word on whether these students were as unlucky as Muennink. But pro tip? Stick to studying.
