The Webby Awards: And the winners are...

This past September, Jimmy Kimmel revealed that he was behind that video of innocent twerking gone horribly wrong — and now he’s winning an award for it.

On Monday morning, the Webbys announced the winners of this year’s 18th annual competition. Each year, judges from the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences — including Netflix star Kevin Spacey — gather together to select the best of the best internet-related achievements, ranging from viral videos to movie streaming services.

Kimmel won the Viral Video award for his “Twerk Fail” clip, which, as he proudly mentioned on his show, was broadcast on dozens of news networks before the late night host revealed that it was a fake.

Funny or Die got three awards, including the Webby and People’s Voice awards for Zach Galifianakis’ talk-show-gone-wrong web series Between Two FernsJerry Seinfeld’s series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffeealso took home both the Webby and People’s Voice awards for best individual performance.

Other big-name winners included HBO Go for the media streaming Webby (despite its issues this year), Vine for the social media Webby, CollegeHumor’s “Penguin vs. Batman” (starring Webby’s own host Patton Oswalt) for the comedy individual short Webby, and the Jamaican Bobsled Team for the athlete of the year Webby.
