Family Guy has been canceled again!

Well, kind of. The Fox animated comedy has entered the mobile-game world with Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff, available now in the Apple App and Google Play stores. After a mysterious new Fox president cancels the show, Peter, Lois, and all your favorite Quahog residents break into all out chaos when it’s revealed to be Ernie the Giant Chicken! A literal chicken fight leaves Quahog in ruins — which is where you come in! First, watch the all-new introduction video to the game voiced by the original cast:

And now your quest can begin! As a player, you will guide Peter and the rest of the cast of characters as they try to rebuild Quahog from the ground up by finding, well, stuff! The free game was written by the show writers, so the humor and randomness that fans have grown to love remains very much in tact. Quests can be as long or as short as you want, but the game is designed as a laugh-a-minute experience. As you continue to play, your own personal Quahog will grow bigger and bigger with more familiar characters, places, and situations from the 200-plus episodes and current pop culture events. You’re essentially the mayor of Quahog, or as is the case on the show, Adam West. “This is a game that has a lot of promise,” West told EW. So if you play the game, you’re pretty much Batman.

“I wrote all the code. I created the app!” Alex Borstein, who voices Lois Griffin among other characters, joked with EW. “I recorded some new stuff for it but I haven’t seen it yet. It’s kind of awesome that you do things in a vacuum and then there’s this fabulous surprise!”

In actuality, the game was developed by San Francisco-based TinyCo, the developers behind Tiny Monsters and Tiny Castle, among other top-grossing titles, working directly with the Family Guy writers and voice talent and brand gurus at Fox Digital Entertainment. “We’re excited to deliver a game that brings the spontaneity and eccentricity of the show to the mobile gameplay experience for the first time,” said Rick Phillips, SVP, Fox Digital Entertainment. “TinyCo successfully marries the world of Family Guy, its infamous cutaways, lampooning of current events, and irreverent humor with entertaining game mechanics.” It’s pretty much one open-ended episode where the game is all about the story. And yes, it’s free and not pay-to-win, though players can access more exclusive content through purchases. Each collectible you earn or buy directly influences the story that you are telling. So if you get Peter dressed as a mermaid, your next quest may be helping out a fisherman.

In addition to the game, the new app also features FaceSpace, an in-game social network for characters to interact and to post new level achievements to brag about. Yup – it’s Family Guy Facebook. The character pages were all created specifically for the game with new original content that directly loops the player back into the action of their quest. Players can also jump in and out of their friend’s games and see what their version of Quahog looks like. “We’ve had an absolute blast bringing The Quest for Stuff to life,” said Andrew Green, head of business development and business operations at TinyCo. “Working with an IP like Family Guy wasn’t a responsibility we took lightly, and thanks to fantastic collaboration with Fox we’re delivering a game that both fans and newcomers will love.”
