Watch KTLA anchors experience an earthquake on air -- VIDEO

In case you haven’t heard, a 4.4 earthquake hit Los Angeles earlier this morning — after which Twitter exploded with celeb quips and experiences. But for those of us sitting on less-shaky ground, the experience was nothing but a bunch of 140-character afterthoughts … until now.

Luckily, the KTLA news team was hard at work filming a show when the earthquake hit. In the following video, you can watch as Megan Henderson nearly talks right through the quake, only stopping when co-anchor Chris Schauble has a minor panic attack. The two quickly get under their news desk — clearly they’ve practiced — for a matter of seconds before the quake seems to have passed.

Then, after barely escaping with their lives — there’s bits of ceiling on their desk! — they pass things to Eric Spillman, who really dives into the fascinating logistics of the quake. For example, did you know that about 10 seconds passed between the time it shook Hollywood versus downtown L.A.? To be fair, the man had about two seconds to prepare something to say. But that’s exactly why you’re watching this video — purely to see the panicked look on Schauble’s face, and nothing else.
