Ugh, let’s get this over with quickly. Here’s what Imitation James Franco has been up to since the last time we checked in on him:

1. Tweeting yet another apology to Daniel Clowes, the writer/cartoonist LaBeouf ripped off in his short film HowardCantour.com.

2. Making a resolution he will almost certainly fail to keep.

3. Giving a quasi-sincere apology for all those plagiarized apology tweets…

4. …and immediately rendering it moot. “I’m sorry if you guys just aren’t sophisticated enough to understand me!”

5. Hiring a guy in a plane to write “I AM SORRY DANIEL CLOWES” in clouds above Los Angeles — even though Clowes actually lives in the Bay Area — and tweeting a moody photo of the message, complete with a super deep caption.

6. Paraphrasing Jay-Z’s “What More Can I Say?” without giving attribution.

7. Saying even more ridiculous things in an email interview with Bleeding Cool, including but not limited to:

“What does an artist do — they just point and say look at this.”

“It’s the 21st century, thug life. It wants to be fee.” (I think that means “free” in LaBeoufese.)

“Authorship is censorship. Should God sue me if I paint a river?”

“The word law is against my principles.”

“THE FIRST LAWS ON AUTHORSHIP WERE USED TO CENSOR & PERSECUTE THE WRITERS WHO DARED PUBLISH RADICAL IDEAS. Simple — should creation have to check with a lawyer?”

And so on and so forth. Somewhere, Christy Carlson Romano heaves a heavy sigh and wonders where it all went wrong. Related: Christy Carlson Romano just got married in a Canadian castle. That’s awesome! New resolution: Whenever we feel an urge to discuss LaBeouf’s latest Shiananigans, we’ll just check in to see what his Even Stevens costar is up to instead. Who’s with me?
