Lea Michele talked about moving on after the death of her co-star and boyfriend, Cory Monteith, in a Dec. 12 interview on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. The Glee star told DeGeneres that she has chosen to press forward, despite the grief of losing Monteith. “Grief goes with you every day, whatever you’re doing,” she told Ellen. “Whether there’s great moments, when there’s hard moments, so I’d rather be at work with the people that I love who are going through the same.”

Michele continued, “My mom has experienced a lot of loss in her life, and she told me, ‘There is an empowerment that comes with grief. At some point you will find it’s very hard, but you will find it,’ and I think at a certain point you can choose to fall from this or you can rise. That’s what I’m trying to do my best for him, because that’s what he [Cory] would have wanted.”

Michele also discussed her forthcoming debut album Louder, and performed her new single from the record, “Cannonball.”
