Giddy child hacks Fox News website? Yeah, not so much

To be fair, we don’t really know who’s to blame for the fake zombie news banner and delirious featured story (headline: “WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!”; subhead: “STUFF YO”) that appeared suddenly on Fox News’ website just moments ago — though the cable channel itself blames “an internal production problem.” [Oh, wait -- actually, we do! Scroll down to see an official statement from Fox News.]

We prefer to believe, though, that those stories were actually the work of a plucky young kid hacker, who fought his or her way through Fox News’ UNIX system and then had no idea what to do once inside. Then again, that “yo” and talk of zombies may hint at another culprit — Jesse Pinkman, is that you? Did everything turn out okay, bro?!

P.S. FoxNews.com is now back to normal. But that won’t stop the living dead from coming.

Update: A spokesperson for Fox News passed along this statement from Jeff Misenti, the cable net’s Chief Digital Officer: “During routine website maintenance, a home page prototype was accidently moved to the actual site.  As with any mistake in testing, engineers noticed the error and quickly brought the site back to its normal function.”
