We learn a lot of interesting things when we administer our EW Pop Culture Personality Test. In addition to uncovering why a young Tom Hanks owes his career to a young Wendi McLendon-Covey, we also discovered that McLendon-Covey needs to have her own Web series in which she discusses TV moments that made her cry. You’ll see her get misty in the video below discussing The Little House on the Prairie, but she also welled up recalling moments on The Love Boat (“Capt. Stubing had to say goodbye to a woman he met in Australia, and I think they said goodbye about 14 times, it just kept prolonging it and prolonging it, and she presented him with a seashell that said ‘Goodbye’ on it — I can’t even…”) and Happy Days (“Fonzie says goodbye to his girlfriend Pinky Tuscadero and they ride on their motorcycles hand-in-hand … That’s all I’m gonna say about that”).
Taking a brief break so her eye makeup could be touched up, we volunteered the episode of Three’s Company when Janet quits the flower shop because her dance teacher said she had a career in it, but he really just wanted to seduce her, and instead of telling Janet “I told you so,” Jack asked her to dance. “He says, ‘You don’t have what it takes to be a dancer.’ ‘Well, you don’t have what it takes to be a human being!’ And I said, ‘Janet, you are in inspiration,’” McLendon-Covey says, not missing a beat. When we’re ready to roll again, she adds, “We didn’t even touch on Fantasy Island… Let’s not.”
The Goldbergs airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
