It’s official: Sarah Jessica Parker is (maybe) returning to the stage.
Entertainment Weekly can confirm a Showbiz 411 report that Parker is in talks to join a play written by actress Amanda Peet about “a family weathering a major financial crisis,” the Manhattan Theater Club told EW in a statement.
“We are looking forward to producing the world premiere of The Commons of Pensacola … directed by Lynne Meadow as part of our 2013-2014 season,” the MTC said. “We are in conversation with Blythe Danner and Sarah Jessica Parker about appearing in this timely, new play.”
At the moment Danner is featured in Nice Work if You Can Get It alongside Parker’s husband, Matthew Broderick, but the new deal would see her switch productions in the fall. If Parker comes on board, it will be her first stage appearance since the ’90s.
