WARNING: Do not read on if you haven’t watched this week’s episode of Scandal. MAJOR, MAJOR spoilers ahead.
This week’s Scandal was an intense hour that delivered an answer to the question that’s been plaguing fans of the show for the past seven days: Who shot the President?
The answer was shocking to say the least….
To be clear, there were essentially no clues about shooter’s identity in the episode — because everything that took place in present-day dealt more with internal White House matter more than the investigation into the shooting (more on that in a later paragraph). But most of the hour was actually a series of flashbacks that gave hungry Liv-Fitz fans new sexy scenes to drool over (political strategy = the pair’s idea of sexy talk), gave us a chance to see pre-makeover Huck — who was a hairy mess before Liv took him in — and connected many threads of the Cytron case. In regards to the latter, we learned that Hollis Doyle was responsible for the bombing AND framing Quinn. And if that wasn’t enough, we found out that the Cytron incident was, in large part, what led to Olivia’s resignation.
In the present-day, Olivia had her hands full. She was running the White House press department after the death of the press secretary (who was also Liv’s former intern) and was helping Cyrus stop weaselly VP Sally Langston from taking the presidency using a loophole in the 24th amendment. Despite their efforts — which included Olivia enlisting the help of grieving Mellie — they failed. Langston took oath in the final minutes of the episode. Then there was another shocker came.
The newscaster announced that the police had a suspect: a dark-haired man in a red hoodie. It wasn’t a lot to go on. Luckily, we didn’t get much time to ponder the clues (Me: “Who’s EVER worn red?!”) because we almost immediately flashed back to the scene of the crime — this time from the shooter’s perspective — and learned that the man behind the gun was Olivia’s right-hand man, Huck.
Did you see that coming, fans?! WHAT. THE. HECK. Rather, What the Huck!?
Has his killer instinct taken over? Did someone put him up to this? Did he make a rare mistake? (Unlikely). I need your theories/reactions/exclamations immediately!
