Who could have seen General David Petraeus’s fall from grace coming? Well, anyone who watched Petraeus biographer Paula Broadwell on The Daily Show last winter may have had an inkling that something fishy was going on — Broadwell spent seven minutes lavishing praise on her subject, hinting strongly that she and the director of the CIA were unusually close.
Of course, hindsight is 20/20. While interviewing Broadwell, Jon Stewart had no idea that the author was actually discussing her relationship with her adulterous lover on national TV: “The whole time, I was just staring at how defined her arms were and trying to think of another version of my classic ‘I’m an asthmatic old Jew’ jokes!” he exclaimed on The Daily Show last night. Clearly, says Stewart, he’s “the worst journalist in the world.” Good thing he’s got that whole “comedy” thing to fall back on.
