There are so many things that come to mind when you think about Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.): His 2006 vote against the PATRIOT act, his support for the DNA testing of death row inmates, and many other important things I just learned from reading his Wikipedia page. But Sen. Leahy is probably best known for his cameo role as “Gentleman at Party” in The Dark Knight: He’s the bespectacled dude who challenges the Joker.
Intriguingly, Dark Knight was Leahy’s third appearance in the Bat-verse. He also played himself in Batman & Robin, and voiced the governor of the Utah Territory in an episode of Batman: The Animated Series. And now, according to the Washington Post, Leahy will return to Gotham in the trilogy-capping Dark Knight Rises, which is probably the 17th most exciting piece of Dark Knight Rises casting news we’ve heard all year. Presumably, he’ll just have a little cameo…unless maybe, just maybe, Patrick Leahy was ACTUALLY RA’S AL GHUL ALL ALONG , BWWWWAAAMMMMPPPP!!!!!
