It’s a good rule of thumb that you should pretty much avoid any and all videogames based on feature films — not to mention feature films based on videogames. But I think a special exception can be made for Fix-It Felix. It’s the (fictitious) ’80s-era arcade game at the heart of the Disney animated film Wreck-It Ralph, about a gaming villain tired of everyone always being upset with him just for doing his job.
And he does it so well, too! Disney’s made Fix-It Felix available to play on the Web, and I’m here to tell you, while it may look simple, it’s a really tough game to beat. You play Felix, bravely climbing a vertiginously tall apartment complex to repair the windows busted by the perpetually smash-y Ralph. You’ve gotta avoid the bricks Ralph sends down, and the ducks that fly in your path, while scarfing up the pies left for you by grateful residents (that give you an extra life if you’re low). Sounds easy, right? Well, I’ve played it five times now, and I’ve yet to reach the top of the building. Click here to play the game and see if you can do better — my high score was 44800. One word of advice: Give those ducks a very wide berth.
