First Look: Jim Parsons all dolled up for Broadway's 'Harvey' -- EXCLUSIVE PHOTO

Starring in a Broadway play is already daunting — so headlining said play in a role made famous by Jimmy Stewart must be absolutely terrifying. But The Big Bang Theory’s two-time Emmy winner Jim Parsons appears calm, cool, and collected as Elwood P. Dowd in the ad campaign for Roundabout Theatre Company’s upcoming Harvey (one of EW’s most anticipated shows of the year). Check out EW’s exclusive first look at the poster for the production below.

Look at him. He’s handsome. He’s natty. He’s smiling. What a catch! Just ignore the shadow of the titular six-foot-three rabbit pooka (or fairy in animal form) that is Elwood’s wingman. Or not.

“Jim Parsons has such appeal and a great look,” says Roundabout’s managing director, Harold Wolpert, who was involved in conceptualizing the poster. “We knew we wanted to put him front and center, but part of the play’s charm is that in the mind of his character, Harvey exists and is his best friend, yet nobody else sees him. Figuring out how to portray that was a challenge. How do you cross that line? I hope we got that across in a way that’s not too literal.”

Harvey, which opens at Studio 54 on June 14, also stars Jessica Hecht, Charles Kimbrough, Larry Bryggman, Carol Kane, Peter Benson, Tracee Chimo, Holley Fain, Angela Paton, Rich Sommer, and Morgan Spector. Scott Ellis will direct.
