Aside from pointing out — yet again — the in no-way-astute observation that Jonah Hill has physically changed quite a bit from his last visit to Saturday Night Live back in 2008, the actor has also seen a complete career overhaul in that time.
Sure, he’s coming back to Studio 8H to promote 21 Jump Street, a comedy in which he plays the goofy sidekick not unlike the work fans most associate him with, including Superbad, Knocked Up, and Get Him to the Greek, but the 28-year-old is also returning as an Oscar-nominee with a slate of more serious, dramatic work ahead.
Still, there’s no need to worry that Hill has lost his funny bone in the midst of all these changes, as evidenced by his wonderfully silly SNL promo with his fellow Superbad alum Bill Hader. Plus, it’s hard to imagine a scenario in which Hill would in any way have a worse SNL episode than his well-meaning, but unintentionally funny 21 Jump Street co-star Channing Tatum, who turned out one of the season’s most uneven efforts when he hosted back in February. Check out Hill’s other SNL spot – this time around with cast member Jason Sudeikis and musical guests The Shins (who proved their own comedy chops recently in this inspired Funny or Die clip):
What are you most hoping to see during tonight’s Saturday Night Live, PopWatchers? Do you think Jonah Hill should get a chance to revive his Oscar-nominated role as Moneyball‘s Peter Brand in SNL‘s spoof “Tinyballs”? (Sorry, Bobby Moynihan.) Or are you simply tuning in to check out The Shins? They’ll change your life!
