It’s going to be awfully sweet to hear Don Pardo’s voice call Maya Rudolph‘s name once again. Tonight the Saturday Night Live vet is returning to Studio 8H to host the show for the first time since her departure as a full-time cast member. Of course, that doesn’t mean the funny lady hasn’t been seen around SNL in the years since she left to take on the world of movies (Away We Go, Bridesmaids) and sitcoms (Up All Night). Rudolph popped up to sing a Mother’s Day duet with fellow alum Tina Fey when she hosted last year and returned a few months later to do her famous impression of Whitney Houston during Steve Buscemi‘s episode.
Of course, both of those appearances raise two big questions about the actress’ hosting gig tonight: Will her former SNL cast members/pals like Fey (and Amy Poehler and Rachel Dratch) swing by for a surprise visit? And will Rudolph actually impersonate the late singer one last time? (To answer both in order: Let’s hope so, and let’s be honest, probably not.)
Still, there’s plenty more in Rudolph’s repertoire to get excited about possibly seeing again (welcome, Opraaaaah and Donatellaaaaa!), not to mention the fact that musical guests Sleigh Bells will be making their first appearance on the show as they prepare to drop their new album Reign of Terror. Watch the latest promo with both Rudolph and the band, as well as SNL cast member Fred Armisen, here:
