Here’s a piece of information that might make Wolf Blitzer “OMG” all over again: During an interview with Moviefone, actor/wrestler/historical moment clairvoyant Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said he can “impact the world through politics” and he can “can become president.” Why? “I am American,” The Rock told the website, adding, “But don’t forget: I am G.I. Joe.” This campaign writes itself, people!
While the Journey 2: The Mysterious Island star doesn’t seem to have any political aspirations anytime soon (“Right now the best way that I can impact the world is through entertainment”), it seems like he will be heading into that arena in the future. “One day, and that day will come, I can impact the world through politics,” he said. After all, aside from mentioning his previous victories (a Teen Choice Award, Fast Five) The Rock could essentially just run on the platform of “I Knew About the Death of Osama Bin Laden Before Everyone Else. Don’t Forget: I Am G.I. Joe.” USA!
“I got my sources,” The Rock recalled to Moviefone regarding his intelligence on that historic moment back in May, “I got friends in high places and low places. It was a very interesting day. I knew the president was going to give his speech; I thought he was going to give it at a certain time and so I thought, “I think it’s appropriate that I tweet ‘I’m damn proud to be an American‘” and keep it in that space without giving away too much information. And then I got a call saying, “Now the president will give his speech in a couple of hours.’ So we had about two hours of Rock tweets out there.” USA!
And lest you forget, a vote for The Rock is sort of technically a vote for Barack Obama. (But really, its one for G.I. Joe.) USA!
Would you vote for The Rock for President of the United States of America? (Be honest.) Who would be his running mate? Would he even need to campaign or could he just show up on the ballot as The Rock and take the whole thing in a landslide? Or would a smear campaign featuring nothing but footage from The Tooth Fairy stop him dead in the water? Share in the comments section below, PopWatchers.
