Would you want to be trapped on a boat with this woman? Royal Caribbean has tapped former TLC reality star Kate Gosselin to host a cruise on its brand new ship, Allure of the Seas. According to Royal Caribbean’s Web site for the Aug. 12-19 cruise, fans will take home a a commemorative personalized gift and have plenty of one-on-one time with Gosselin during a games day, Q&A session, craft class, shore excursion, and several meals including a private farewell dinner. Here’s the thing: Gosselin is not exactly known for her ability to travel well.
There are many documented examples of freak-outs during her five years on Jon & Kate Plus 8. From her Utah-bound airplane meltdown in 2008 to 2010’s ill-fated camping trip with Sarah Palin, she never found a chance to complain that she didn’t take. That’s without mentioning a cross-country blow-up so over-the-top it inspired her babysitter to quit on the spot — and that reached air only four months ago. Gosselin has proven time and again that it doesn’t matter how much pampering or payola is in it for her, she is incapable of stopping the ugly emotions when they come surging to the surface. To be brutally honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if she becomes a shut-in a few days into the cruise and refuses to honor her commitments for the rest of the voyage.
That said, there are a lot of things that cruisers will get for their money (rooms range from $1900-$3175 for the week). Families can take in a performance of the Broadway musical Chicago, have a meet and greet with DreamWorks characters including Shrek and Po the Panda, sip frappucinos at the world’s first Starbucks at Sea, ride a Boardwalk carousel, try out aerial acrobats in the Aqua Theater, or simulate surfing on a Flow Rider.
What do you think, PopWatchers? Would you pay to take on the high seas with Kate Gosselin? Or would even the minute risk of being marooned with her be too great?
