Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust. (Hey, better we reference a Queen tune than, say, a Fishbone song.) The campaign trail to the White House ended for GOP candidate/Margaret Thatcher hopeful Michele Bachmann on Wednesday when she announced that she has ended her bid for the Republican presidential nomination.
According to CNN.com, Bachmann, who suspended her campaign after a dismal sixth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses, told her supporters that in spite of exiting the race, “I will continue fighting to defeat the president’s agenda of socialism.” Watch the Minnesota congresswoman’s concession speech below, in which she states the country (which she instructs Americans to “take back”) is “in very serious trouble.”
Whether or not you’re sad to see Bachmann go (be it for political or purely comical reasons), she’s already left, for better or worse, an indelible mark on pop culture. And by that, we mean her words and actions have led to a lot of YouTube videos. (Top that, Rick Perry! Better yet, don’t.) Bachmann first caught the media’s attention when hers seemed to be elsewhere. Check out her off-the-mark response to the State of the Union speech from last January:
In fact, Bachmann had a series of Oops! moments over the past year. (Top that, Rick Perry! Better yet, don’t.) Watch some of her memorable flubs below, including wishing Elvis Presley a happy birthday during a visit to Spartanburg, S.C. The issue? It was actually the anniversary of the King’s death. (Still in no way worse than confusing John Wayne with John Wayne Gacy, but amusing nonetheless.)
