'Survivor': Whitney Duncan has been hiding a secret husband

Survivor just turned into Temptation Island. People revealed today that castaway Whitney Duncan, who began an on-air romance with fellow contestant Keith Tollefson, has been secretly married for more than a year. The former Nashville Star contestant married musician Donny Fallgatter in August 2010, though the newlyweds kept their marriage secret from friends and family. Duncan told Survivor: South Pacific producers she was single even while she made phone calls to her husband back in the U.S. Before filming wrapped, Duncan confessed over the phone that she’d started a romance with Tollefson. Now back Stateside, the showmancers have been spotted around Nashville, and it appears her relationship with Fallgatter is over — if only unofficially.

What do you make of this shocking revelation, PopWatchers? Does this news change your opinion of Duncan? Tollefson has already been voted off the island, but do you think Duncan has a chance of making it to the end?

'Jack and Jill': Do you still see Adam Sandler flicks, or did you give that up a long, long time ago?

Jack-and-Jill

The funniest thing about the trailer for Jack and Jill, a real movie that opens in theaters this weekend, is how fake it all seems. The mind-bogglingly absurd image of Adam Sandler playing both himself and his boorish, Noo Yawk twin sister Jill looked like it could have been one of the movies his Funny People character willingly sold out to make a quick buck for. Actually, it felt more like something out of a South Park episode in which they’d parody the mind-boggling absurdity of most Sandler flicks. (“Adam Sandler is his own twin sister… and Rob Schneider is a stapler!”) I take that back, the funniest thing about the Jack and Jill trailer is that it produced this. Brilliant.

Still, no one, especially not critics, seem to be laughing at Sandler’s latest pass at, er, comedy. (EW’s Lisa Schwarzbaum gave the film a D+, helping the film earn its 2 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Well, at least its no Bucky Larson, right? Right?!) Will anyone other than masochists and the most hardcore Sandler devotees see this? READ FULL STORY »

11/11/11 is Nigel Tufnel Day: 'Spinal Tap' fans, unite!

Spinal-Tap

Because sometimes, you just need to take things to 11. Nearly three decades after 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap introduced us to Nigel Tufnel, fans have joined together to declare today, Nov. 11, 2011 (a.k.a. 11/11/11), Nigel Tufnel Day.

The movement (which amassed thousands of fans on Facebook) finds roots in scene between documentarian Marty DiBergi (Spinal Tap director Rob Reiner) and Tufnel (Christopher Guest). Lead guitarist Tufnel shows DiBergi several of his guitars and then, the kicker, a set of speakers that are “very special”: “The numbers all go up to 11,” he says, and, as the camera pans across the dials, he says proudly: “Eleven… 11… 11.” Boom! Watch the iconic scene, and find 11 more amazing Nigel Tufnel quotes,  after the jump. READ FULL STORY »

George Clooney details post-'Syriana' suicidal thoughts

Syriana

George Clooney won his Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in Syriana (2005), but you have to wonder if he winces every time he glances at his shiny trophy. Playing a bearded CIA operative caught up in the shifting sands of Middle East geopolitics, Clooney injured his spine during a scene in which his character is taped to a chair and tortured. Several surgeries were required to fix the problem, but Clooney still complains of rattling headaches. Back in 2005, he told Fresh Air’s Terry Gross that the pain became so persistent and aggravating at one point that he actually contemplated suicide. In the most recent issue of Rolling Stone, Clooney goes in to greater detail: READ FULL STORY »

Ashton Kutcher takes the self-deprecating humor approach to image rehab

Filed under: Television, TV and tagged: ,

“What’s a picture worth?” Ashton Kutcher tweeted, along with a link to the photo of him posing next to an “I’M WITH STUPID” sign. Answer: Another apology for that uninformed tweet claiming Penn State firing college football legend Joe Paterno was an “insult” and showed “no class” because he wasn’t aware of the Jerry Sandusky scandal?

You can argue Twitter is just Twitter, and it’s ridiculous that what a person types in 140 characters or less becomes a news story, ever. But then, you weren’t the celebrity who just last month made a video urging the media and social media users to hold themselves to a higher standard when reporting and sharing information. After his faux pas, Kutcher has handed over management of his Twitter feed to his production company Katalyst as “a secondary editorial measure, to ensure the quality of its content.”

Billy Crystal is hosting, which proves that the Oscars are officially out of new ideas. Thank goodness.

Ever since the last time Billy Crystal hosted the Academy Awards in 2004, the Oscars have been trying desperately to be cool. Just look at their post-Crystal hosting choices. They brought in Chris Rock. They brought in Ellen DeGeneres. They brought in Jon Stewart twice, once at a very specific cultural moment — the never-ending Presidential campaign of 2006-08 — when hiring Jon Stewart felt extremely transgressive. They brought in non-comedian Hugh Jackman. The 2010 Oscars felt like an old Saturday Night Live episode, with Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin as co-hosts. The 2011 Oscars, conversely, felt like a new SNL episode, with bright young things James Franco and Anne Hathaway modeling their respective youth-group charms: winking irony for him, breathless exuberance for her. We at EW scoured the TV line-up last night to find the best one-liners from your favorite shows. This week certainly wasn’t going out with a whimper. Model UN representative Leslie Knope) on Parks and Recreation, Thursday’s big boys and girls came to play. Read on…

Tiger Woods leads tournament: Are we ready to cheer for him again?

There are golf fans. And then there are Tiger Woods golf fans. Tiger Woods golf fans don’t necessarily root for Woods — especially since his extramarital scandal — but they definitely tune in when Woods is in the hunt. Sunday afternoons with Woods tearing up the links are must-see television. Golf’s problem is that Woods has been a mere shadow of his former greatness ever since he crashed his car on Thanksgiving 2009. Battling injuries, his swing, and likely his inner demons, Woods hasn’t won a tournament in two years, his marriage dissolved, and most of his richest sponsors abandoned him. Though there have been flashes of brilliance, his game has often been sad to watch. As a result, viewers have tuned out and golf has been unable to fill the void.

But there’s hope in Tigerland today — and at the networks, no doubt. After two rounds of golf, Woods leads the Australian Open by a stroke. READ FULL STORY »

See Jonathan Lipnicki's hypnotic shirtless pictures: It's like you're photoshopped! (You're not?!)

Hey, what happened to Jonathan Lipnicki, that precocious little glasses-wearing star of Jerry Maguire?, you ask. This. This is what happened to Jonathan Lipnicki. I’d tell you you won’t believe your eyes, but if you’ve already skimmed the pictures of Lipnicki’s workout session, courtesy of Caliendo Photography, they’ve no doubt already popped out of your head in utter disbelief and/or you’ve washed them out with acid.

And here I thought Jack and Jill would be the most surreal thing I’d see today.

Can you believe your eyes either, PopWatchers? We’re certain that it’s the very same Jonathan Lipnicki, correct? Will we ever be able to un-see this? Do you feel just as confused and alone? Did you know the human head weighs eight pounds? Did you know bees and dogs can smell fear? Share in the comments section below.
