A picture may be worth a thousand words, but when it comes to the photos from LIFE magazine, they often left you speechless. While it’s nearly impossible to give them the proper credit for creating the images that changed the world, here are two words we can say: Happy Anniversary!

Today, Nov. 23, marks LIFE‘s 75th year in print. In honor of the momentous date, LIFE.com has put up galleries featuring some of their most notable photographs. There is The 75 Best LIFE Photos gallery, which serves as a beautiful and important reminders, if not a sometimes difficult-to-stomach, history of the world; to the understated (at least, by today’s standards) sexiness of their Sexiest Photos of All-Time. (Fair warning, both slideshows have some NSFW images.) READ FULL STORY »

'Millionaire Matchmaker' finale recap: Patti looks for love

Patti-stenger

Fans of Millionaire Matchmaker know (and love!) that the show attracts some obnoxious characters. But last night, viewers were treated to a loud-mouthed, vulgar, over-the-top candidate, the likes of which had never been seen before: Patti Stanger herself.

That’s right: The tables were turned and for the fifth season finale, Stanger was the guest of honor… or infamy, depending on how you want to look at it. The montage-heavy episode — seriously, she is bru-tahl to those awkward dudes — kicked off with Patti, fresh off another visit to an astrologer, burst into Matchmaker headquarters and declared: “Momma wants a mixer!” READ FULL STORY »

This Week's Cover: Stars' Worst Movies! We list the most embarrassing films A-listers ever made

Like you, we like movie stars. We flock to see their films, cheer when they win Oscars, and memorize their famous lines. But sometimes they forget to return the love, cranking out movies that are so god-awful we’re left slack-jawed, wondering how the hell the things ever got made. We’re not talking about high-profile trainwrecks like Ben Affleck’s Gigli or George Clooney’s Batman & Robin. We’re talking about the under-the-radar pieces of celluloid dreck that, more often than not, limp straight to DVD and quickly vanish into out-of-print oblivion.

For instance, did you know that Johnny Depp once played a horny teen in a sex-romp called Private Resort? Or that Sandra Bullock made sweet jungle love in a cheap adventure called Fire on the Amazon? Or that Brad Pitt played a lovelorn high school jock in a move called Cutting Class? If you did, then we salute you. If not, then boy, are you in for a treat. We went back and unearthed the lamest, most ridiculous films your favorite A-List stars ever appeared in — and we giddily share with you all the hilarious highlights. Such as how Paul Rudd, as a peroxide-blond in Gen-Y Cops, chases a robot through Hong Kong and utters the line, “Roseanne Barr Arnold will be the President of the United States before you two punks see the light of day,” and how Ryan Reynolds’ facial hair changes from scene to scene in a raunchy American Pie knockoff that’s honestly called Coming Soon.

Forget roasting, brining, or deep-frying. This Thanksgiving, we bring you 24 turkeys that are delicious all by themselves.

For the full helping of Stars’ Worst Movies, pick up the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, on stands now.

Angelina Jolie talks 'heavy, darker times' on '60 Minutes'

Before she raised lots of children, Angelina Jolie raised lots of eyebrows by wearing a vial of Billy Bob Thornton’s blood around her neck and kissing her brother but good on the mouth. On this Sunday’s edition of 60 Minutes, the actress/humanitarian/wife of Brad Pitt opens up (a little) to Bob Simon about those wilder days as well as her experiences as a first-time director of a film, the Bosnia-set romantic drama In the Land of Blood of Honey. But enough for about the latter for right now — what did she have to say about the old Angelina? “I went through heavy, darker times and I survived them,” she reveals. “I didn’t die young, so I’m very lucky.” She also makes reference to taking “too many chances” and being close to “too many dangerous things” while never quite articulating what those chances and things were. We’re guessing that’s all the tidbits she’s giving away, but maybe we’ll find out more on Sunday? That doesn’t mean that she’s completely reformed: “I’m still a bad girl,” she notes. “I still have that side of me … it belongs to Brad. Or… our adventures.”

Black Friday commercials: The best ('Rocky IV') and worst (Rebecca Black)?

The battle of the Black Friday TV commercials has begun. What are the best and worst you’ve seen? As you can tell from the headline, I’m loving that Target has brought back its training montage ad, which allows you to feel superior to others in the room when you ID the song as being from Rocky IV. Kohl’s, on the other hand, has opted to revamp Rebecca Black’s “Friday” with an actress who probably still has the song in her head. Watch below and nominate your own picks!  READ FULL STORY »

HBO makes deal with Akiva Goldsman and Ron Howard for Doc Holliday series: Who's their huckleberry?

DOC-HOLLIDAY

In the mythology of the O.K. Corral, the hero is typically the straightlaced Wyatt Earp and the scene-stealing sidekick his sauced but steady-handed gunslinger, Doc Holliday. Henry Fonda had Victor Mature, Burt Lancaster had Kirk Douglas, and Kurt Russell had Val Kilmer. Rarely has Doc gotten the star treatment — though 1971′s Doc, with Stacy Keach and Faye Dunaway, came the closest to doing him justice. EW can now confirm that HBO is working with Akiva Goldsman on a new series about the 19th-century’s most famous failed dentist. As Deadline initially reported, Ron Howard is attached to direct, and Adam Cooper and Bill Collage (Accepted) are writing, inspired by the recent biography from Mary Doria Russell, also entitled Doc. Study claims Hollywood is still plagued by gender inequality

Categories: Movies, ShePop

A new study conducted by colleagues at USC’s Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism confirms what we’ve all, sadly, assumed to be true: Even in the post-Sex and the City blockbuster, Kathryn Bigelow-wins-an-Oscar era, there’s still of inequality between men and women in Hollywood. On-camera, the female players are fewer and more sexualized than males. Behind-the-scenes, the number of women comes nowhere near matching that of men as directors, writers, and producers. The study examined the 100 top-grossing films of 2009. Among the findings: READ FULL STORY »
