Take me out to the bawl game: What did you watch instead of 'X Factor' last night?

Any baseball fan would have to agree that this has been one of the most exciting (grand slams for everyone!) and unpredictable post-seasons in recent memory. As unpredictable as the weather. It’s a fitting comparison — after all, several rainstorms have halted or postponed games entirely. Besides the pitchers of those games, there may be no group of people more frustrated by the onslaught of crummy weather than TV fans. Baseball can already screw up your TV-watching schedule as is come October, so when you throw in a rain delay, it’s a big ol’ swing and a miss for non-baseball fans.

Just ask devotees of The X Factor. The reality competition was scheduled to start at its regular time at 8 p.m. on Fox last night. Only problem is that the Game 4 of the ALCS endured a two-hour rain delay, prompting the Detroit Tigers and the Texas Rangers to play ball at 6:32 p.m instead of the scheduled 4:19 p.m. And seeing as baseball is a particularly long game, rain delay or otherwise (though, to the Rangers credit, they made it worth the wait for their fans watching back in Texas), the game was only in its fifth inning when The X Factor was supposed to start. 'Revenge': We revisit the pilot for hidden clues. What did you find?

Each episode of Revenge is so full of juicy delicious mystery that it’s easy to forget that the show opened with a murderous flash-forward. I don’t know about you, but most of what happened — or will happen — during that Labor Day weekend engagement party went completely over my head. I remember there were a lot of rich-looking, beautiful people at a party… and that someone died.

After last night’s episode, which furthered the Emily/Daniel/Jack love triangle, it all came crashing back. Wait a minute, Daniel is going to die! I decided to re-watch the pilot to scan for clues, now that I can distinguish the Baldwins and the Bettys from each other. Read on to see some of my retrospective theories — and post your own in the comments below. READ FULL STORY »

Find the 'Cougar Town' cast... on all your other favorite shows!

cougar-town

No amount of time spent with Big Carl will help me get over the fact that ABC’s Cougar Town won’t premiere until next year. I curse whoever made the decision to keep the Cul-de-sac Crew off the air until that mid-season premiere date (which has yet to be determined).

But it seems that the powers that be read my mind and made the decision to at least get Jules & Co. back on my TV, even though they can’t deliver any new Cougar Town episodes. Earlier this week, the show’s creator Bill Lawrence tweeted that his cast “will be on more shows this fall (this week even) than any cast on tv.” What quickly followed was Lawrence’s announcement of the “Find the Cougar Town Cast” project. 'Psych' season premiere: All you need is love?

Psych-premiere-Dule

Psych is back! Season 6 of USA’s buddy comedy/police procedural premiered last night with an episode that brought murder and mayhem and found Shawn Spencer taking a lie detector test.

Last season left off with a cliff-hanger of sorts. After finally apprehending the elusive and deadly Mr. Yin, the gang went back to the station where Carlton saw secret lovers (and secret-lovers?) Shawn and Juliet sharing a kiss. The final shot was Carlton, wide-eyed in shock, turning and walking away. READ FULL STORY »

Hasbro 2012: Check out new toys for 'Avengers,' 'Amazing Spider-Man,' and (!) 'Return of the Jedi'

The New York Comic-Con kicks off today, but the festivities got off to an early start last night, when Hasbro hosted a preview of their 2012 slate of toys. Since the manufacturer has the rights to big franchises like Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man, we went in expecting some intriguing sneak peeks at next year’s superhero projects. But there was a nice surprise in store — or at least, a nice surprise if you’re the kind of excitable geek fetishist who used to save every issue of Star Wars Insider. (Guilty!) Read on… READ FULL STORY »

Rated Arrrrr! Top 10 most pirated movies of all time

In response to Netflix’s recently released list of the “Top 10 Movie Rentals of All Time,” BitTorrent has release its own — albeit utterly illegal — list of the “Top 10 Most Pirated Movies” of all time. The usual suspects were there, with Avatar (21 million downloads) taking top (dis?)honors, and The Dark Knight tying for second place with Transformers at 19 million downloads apiece. And, yes, of course there’s a Pirates of the Caribbean installment on there. It’s only right.

Still, there is surprisingly little overlap between the lists (only Inception and The Departed). Apparently Netflix users favor Oscar bait while Internet thieves go for tentpole popcorn movies, with the Venn Diagram overlap between those two strangely being Leonardo DiCaprio. So what other movies made the list, and which were the most head scratch-inducing? See the full list after the jump. READ FULL STORY »

Ellen DeGeneres gets hot and heavy with Keith Urban

With the exception of maybe Tom Six (and let’s all be seriously thankful for that) just about every celebrity out there has their own line of fragrances these days. But, before you go turning your nose up at the fact that country singer Keith Urban has just released his own cologne called Phoenix, check out the spoof he did while visiting The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday. It definitely doesn’t stink, PopWatchers!

Watch the full clip below to see why Keith Urban claims Ellen DeGeneres is the only woman that his wife, Nicole Kidman, would let do those things to him. Those things, of course being, licking his face and throwing ice at him. READ FULL STORY »

'Happy Endings': Yes! And Megan Mullally was there!

“They talk so fast on that show.” Sure, that was Brad talking about Gilmore Girls in a scene from last night’s Happy Endings, but that statement is just as easily applicable to their own show. Happy Endings proved, once again, that it is not only one of the funniest shows on TV right now, but one of the toughest to keep up with. Heck, even rewinding your DVR to hear what jokes you laughed over can prove to be a challenge. But, it’s so very worth it.

So, in case you missed it, or you watched and you still missed it, here’s what happened in the new episode titled “Yesandwitch”: READ FULL STORY »

'Law & Order: SVU': T. R. Knight's creepy return to television

Law-Order-TR-Knight

The last time we saw him on our TV sets, T. R. Knight was playing Grey’s Anatomy‘s beloved Dr. George O’Malley before he met an untimely end in 2009. In his first television role since (he’s been continuing a successful stage career), Knight plays somewhat against type: George O’Malley was the bumbling, baby-faced surgeon with a nervous smile and horrible luck with women; his latest character, Gabriel Thomas from last night’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, is an alleged (SPOILER ALERT!) “power-reassurance serial rapist” with a neck tattoo — sure, the tat is of a yin-yang symbol — but still, a neck tattoo pretty much never screams “nice guy.” Gabriel sure looks like George, but that’s where the similarities end. Like George, Gabriel’s into blonds, but only of the submissive variety — that would certainly exclude Izzie Stevens. READ FULL STORY »

'SNL' alum Victoria Jackson pays a visit to Occupy Wall Street. Hilarity ensues?

Celebrities have been visiting the Occupy Wall Street protests for the last few days now, with the aim of supporting the effort and cheering the demonstrators.

Former Saturday Night Live star Victoria Jackson, however, had a different reason for going. In a lengthy YouTube video, Jackson — a born-again Christian and outspoken Obama critic — traveled to downtown Manhattan to, in her words, “ask the protestors what they’re protesting. I think they are against capitalism and I think capitalism is a great thing.”  READ FULL STORY »
