Giuliana Rancic recovering from double lumpectomy

Filed under: News, Reality TV, TV and tagged:

Three days after Giuliana Rancic revealed she was battling breast cancer, the E! news anchor is in recovery from a double lumpectomy, says her husband Bill Rancic. Bill gave Today show anchor Ann Curry a detailed account of his wife’s experience as she prepared for surgery Tuesday. “She’s a trouper,” he said. “She pulled through it and was kind of relieved to get it over with and get the cancer out.” Rancic said his wife is doing well at home, joking, “I’m adding nurse to my resume now. She’s having a lot of fun with that.” See what else he had to say after the jump. READ FULL STORY »

'Lord Monckton': Sacha Baron Cohen's latest character?

Especially in this day and age, there are political celebrities who routinely say such outlandish things that you’re uncertain whether to take them seriously. So you can’t really blame Australian TV host Craig Reucassel for implying that Lord Christopher Monckton must be the next brilliant creation of Sacha Baron Cohen. For those of you unfamiliar with Monckton’s CV, he’s an outspoken climate-change skeptic who once worked for prime minister Margaret Thatcher and he has a history of controversial and polarizing statements. Like the time he said the Hitler Youth was a liberal Green organization. Or the time he suggested that all AIDS victims should be quarantined.

Watch as Reucassel marvels at Cohen’s artistic integrity during an interview with “Monckton” for his show, The Hamster Wheel. Cohen doesn’t break character in the slightest, and even pretends to be angered by Reucassel’s line of questioning and orders him to leave. What commitment! READ FULL STORY »

Adam Levine and Fox News hosts exchange angry tweets over use of his music

Typically it’s Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine that’s the one taking requests, but on Wednesday, The Voice mentor had one for Fox News: Don’t play my music. Or, more specifically, as he put it on Twitter, “Dear Fox News, don’t play our music on your evil f–king channel ever again. Thank you.”

While the network didn’t have an official statement regarding the tweet or which of his songs in particular that Levine was referring to, Fox News hosts Andy Levy and Greg Gutfeld of the late night program Red Eye responded personally to Levine on Twitter. Levy wrote back to the pop star, “Dear @AdamLevine, don’t make crappy f–king music ever again. Thank you,” while Gutfeld fired off tweets from his page like, “Dear adam, That’s not music” and “fun joke: why did Maroon 5 cross the road? because crappy music is legal there! @adamlevine.” READ FULL STORY »

This Week's Cover: 'American Horror Story' and eight other new shows you love

Do you like scary movies? Then you’ll love FX’s new series American Horror Story, the craziest new TV series of the fall season — and perhaps ever. Created by Glee’s Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, AHS is a feverish, sexed-up reimagining of one of the most reliable tropes of the genre, the haunted house. And in this week’s issue, EW goes behind the scenes of the fabulously freaky frightfest. The Harmon family — father Ben (The Practice‘s Dylan McDermott), mother Vivien (Friday Night Lights‘ Connie Britton), and daughter Violet (newcomer Taissa Farmiga) — move from Boston to Los Angeles for a fresh start, but end up moving into a house that makes the Insidious abode look like a trip to Disneyland. Despite a warning that the previous owners have died in the house, the family still moves in and that’s when all hell literally breaks loose. Pretty soon, Vivien is having sex with someone/something in a rubber fetish suit, Ben is sleepwalking naked around the house, and Violet is encountering a basement-dwelling creature nicknamed the “infantata.” And that’s just in the first 50 minutes. “I read the script and I was like, ‘Um…whaat? I don’t understand,’” says Britton. “I kind of took a leap of faith.”  READ FULL STORY »

David Caruso meets a childhood favorite in the block-tacular 'CSI: Legoland' -- VIDEO

After nearly 12 violent years and two very successful spinoffs, Austin filmmaker Joe Nicolosi has finally taken the CSI franchise to the next level — by transporting the CSI: Miami team to the hotbed of sin and corruption known as Legoland. If this hilarious stop-motion short film teaches us anything, it’s that David Caruso’s dramatic mid-sentence sunglasses schtick was always meant to be reenacted by a hard-nosed Lego cop. Check out the video below, unless you’re part Lego. In that case, the graphic violence would probably make this NSFW-ish for you: READ FULL STORY »

Totally necessary 'Magic Mike' update: Matt Bomer talks first thong, Joe Manganiello talks routines

Male stripper movie Magic Mike has already proven itself a gift that keeps on giving. Two of the stars are making headlines today for talking about the movie that they’re not even promoting yet. Matt Bomer shared a great story with MTV News about his first run-in with a thong. “I had never worn a thong before, so the first time I tried it, I put it on wrong and my junk didn’t fit in it,” he said. “I had to call a wardrobe person in and go, ‘Something’s wrong with my thong, you guys. I think we’re gonna have to figure this out,’ and they’re like, ‘Uh, yeah your legs are in the wrong holes.’ So, that was step one.” He went on to explain that there’s a technique to tearaway clothes, and that director Steven Soderbergh made him feel like he was shooting a documentary. Combine those two thoughts, and you have the makings of the best DVD featurette ever.

Co-star Joe Manganiello, meanwhile, dished to the LA Times‘ Ministry of Gossip about the routines in the film, which is a comedy. (“It’s like Animal House and Hangover funny,” Manganiello said.) Each stripper has his own theme. READ FULL STORY »

Neverland moves to Broadway with 'Peter Pan' prequel

Tagged:

Unfortunately for us Hook fans, no, it’s not a sequel. (“Rufio! Rufio! Rufi-oooooo!”) But, still, exciting news that a Peter Pan prequel is headed for Broadway. According to the Associated Press, Peter and the Starcatcher will head to the Great White Way this spring. (And, not too surprisingly, Disney is behind the show.)

Based on Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson’s novel, Peter and the Starcatcher follows the titular character and his upbringing. Tony Award nominee Rick Elice is the writer on Peter and the Starcatcher; Roger Rees and Alex Timbers serve as co-directors. Will he fly — at least at the box office — on Broadway?

Is the best part of 'Footloose' the 'Holding Out for a Hero' cover?

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with EW’s Lisa Schwarzbaum about former Justin Timberlake backup dancer Kenny Wormald “owning” the role of Ren in the Footloose remake. But for me, the even bigger surprise was that I sat up in my seat for one of the songs on the soundtrack — 15-year-old Ella Mae Bowen’s slow, angsty cover of Bonnie Tyler’s “Holding Out for a Hero.” Watch the video below. I came home from the movie ready to buy the song on iTunes but didn’t because it was “album only.” I’m told there are no plans to release the song to country radio, which is a shame.  READ FULL STORY »
