Three days after Giuliana Rancic revealed she was battling breast cancer, the E! news anchor is in recovery from a double lumpectomy, says her husband Bill Rancic. Bill gave Today show anchor Ann Curry a detailed account of his wife’s experience as she prepared for surgery Tuesday. “She’s a trouper,” he said. “She pulled through it and was kind of relieved to get it over with and get the cancer out.” Rancic said his wife is doing well at home, joking, “I’m adding nurse to my resume now. She’s having a lot of fun with that.” See what else he had to say after the jump.
Rancic acknowledged the difficult year he and his wife have had as they’ve tried to conceive their first child together, which was documented on their reality show Giuliana and Bill. He told Curry, “I wish I could carry some of the load. I wish I could take some of the pain away” Ironically, it was Giuliana’s regular doctor’s appointments that resulted in her early discovery of the cancer. Still, Bill admitted, “Watching her getting wheeled into that operating room was heartbreaking for me.”
With the worst part behind them, he remains optimistic as they head into a post-op check-up with Giuliana’s doctor tomorrow. “It’s funny when you go through a situation like this, it kind of turns the volume down on all the things that really aren’t that important,” Rancic said. He added that Giuliana hopes to return to work at E! next week and said the couple is excited for the possibilities that lie ahead. “We['re going to] kick off 2012 with a new outlook on life, and we’re ready to take on the world.”

Love G so much. She is such a good role model. So proud she went public. Get well soon G.
Here, here!
Great!
Bill always struck me as an arrogant slimeball though. I’ve never been convinced of his sincerity!
Really? I loved him on the Apprentice and was majorly jealous when she snagged him.
Hehe he is a hottie. Does he even work though? I just get an insincerity vibe from him. Guess I could be wrong!
What’s a “double lumpectomy”?
Ectomy: surgical removal of something.
Lumpectomy, therefore, is the removal of a lump. Also known as a tylectomy.
And by that same logic, a double lumpectomy is the removal of two lumps.
please know that i have you both in my prayers and hope that Giuliana has a fast recover. My God bless you both.
I can only hope you pray for EVERY cancer victim and not just the ones on tv!
Wow. I don’t think you should assume that she wouldn’t pray for everyone. Shame on you for turning her nice thoughts into something less. I will be praying for her also-even though she is on tv and all.
Wow, that was reallllllllllly unnecessary.
Trouper..nice. I like it the spelling choice. Works both ways for the entertainment reporter.
Guiliana is every girls best friend. The epitomy of being a real person in a superficial world. I am so very proud of you. I talk like we are old friends because I feel like I’ve known you for years. Cancer doesn’t stand a chance against you!
Hope Giuliana has a speedy recovery, and that 2012 is a good year for them.
Opps. I meant that I hope 2012 is a good year for both Giuliana and Bill.
Enough with the IVF. Adopt a child. There are so many children in THIS country that need a good home and loving parents. I guarantee you can love an adopted child just as much as if it were your own. Maybe even more.
Adoption is not exactly an easy process either. Waits can be long and the cost can be high. It’s a personal decision everyone should make for themselves.
I don’t think it’s so wrong for them to want to have a kid with their genes. They never said they wouldn’t adopt, just that this is the option they are trying to pursue at this point in time. Lots of people try to have a biological kid before going the adoption route. It is a very personal choice, and they have their reasons. Who are you to judge?
exactly, ksm
The problem is that the IVF treatments might have caused the cancer.
Personal choices. We all gave them. Let’s wish the best for them.
Have
wow, i guess you don’t want your own biological child cloudy, so insensitive
Love you Giuliana. I too feel like she’s one of my besties. All the best to you. You will triumph.
and what’s wrong with adopting outside of the country? hmm?
I get what cloudy is saying. it’s become trendy to adopt foreign children like Angelina Jolie but there are kids right here in America that need a family just as much.
Love her on E News and Fashion Police!
Get well soon!!!!
I so like the both of you.Went through similar problems when I was 16..Eventually had three children..blessings to you both..
Hopefully once she is cancer free she will be able to have a baby. Christina applegate was able to conceive after breast cancer, hopefully G can too.
Positive thoughts = Positive outcome. My thoughts and prayers are with you Giuliana ! Get well soon and lots of love and luck with IVF.
