The point is, there is no clear direction to the protests. Protesting against banks? Protesting against gov’t? Protesting against “rich” people, whatever that means? All of the above, depending who you ask. The funniest thing is, the “17%” the millionaires pay covers 100x the amount the “33%” pay. The truth is, small business owners will hire more people with lower taxes, which will reduce unemployment. But I do agree the inequity is unfair, so how about protesting to the White House to lower OUR tax rate to 17% instead of raising theirs? We’ve been taxed enough, and it doesn’t make things better. Time to start listening to the GOP side instead of ignoring them like was done when the dems had the majority. Now they have to listen, but still won’t accept the empirical evidence that demonstrates how lowering taxes, instead of raising them, is the only solution to our financial woes. But keep on protesting on Wall Street, that will fix things by providing celebrities with media opportunities so they can make more money while I struggle to make ends meet.

taxes are the lowest they have been in a long time….the top 2% made record profits over the past 5 years while our economy has been tanking and jobs shipped over seas….we can make up facts all day but the proof is in reality….and in reality, these corporations have decided their bottomline is more important than this country which is why they should have NOTHING to do with our government

Perspective is being lost here. Like someone said before, Kanye has just as much right as a US citizen to be there as anyone else. Kanyes not on wallstreet taking ur money. Hes made his money legally ( his craft). And besides, normal people dnt listen to normal people. They listen to celebs. U dnt wear jordans cause joe the plummer wears them. Wake up.

There seems to be alot of different messages going on with these protests. It really dosen’t matter to me, I am just glad people are taking an interest in what goes on this country. It saddens me that so many of you are discouraging their message, even if it is somewhat unclear. If it brings people together to talk about issues, then their protests are not in vain. We have heard so many times, “Wake up people”..well this is a start. Much better than staying at home doing nothing.

I have read post after post of going back and forth with interesting dialogue I might add. Although, quite a bit of you are uninformed or “ignorant”. People, please do your homework, then a true dialogue can begin. If you are insulted right now, I’m happy to tell you that “you” are one of the ignorant people.

Shwos you what idiots these “protesters” are. Having made something like $16 million last year alone, Kanye West is one of the 1% they’re accusing of greed and corruption.

    • Me Fail English?

Is Kanye publicly traded and bailed out by taxpayers, or does someone else cut his check for services rendered? Kanye maybe be a millionaire, but only because billionaires made it possible.

Give us a break, Kanye – you, Russell Simmons, etc etc are all worth as much or more than the Wall Streeters you want to occupy! I just read that Kanye threw an all night party in Paris at a nightclub to launch his new clothing line. Are he, Russell, Diddy, JLo, blah blah blah, all donating all proceeds. Stay home – your “support” is meaningless.

  • Steve

I will be happy if kanye dies

  • matt

This is all kinds of epic

I dont know if anybody sees anything wrong with these celebrities showing “support” because they believe in the cause or because their PR’s tell them is a good thing to do…I can bet that none of these celebrities would give up their life styles of super rich live….showing up in their expensive clothes…apprearance does matter in some cases…yes you have the right to show up but seriously maybe you should stay home..Star powers sometimes can dimishe the actual cause and not encourage actual believers…Im sure there’s celebrity like Emilio Estevez who’s presence would actually mean support since he’s actually been active with protesters for years anyways I despise Kanye’s West presence at Wall St. in versache that should tell you lots

Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.
