Think it’s hilarious. A consumer law used for unintended purpose. Obviously she’s not serious if she’s only asking for her money back. If she was asking for additional labeling for films, such as “will offend women,” “will offend Christians,” “will offend anyone with an IQ above 60,” “will offend mature men” …you know, things that are in reviews & not trailers, she *would* be the nutjob with too much time on her hands. Seems to be a “Just Saying …” thing a little out of control for a poorly written law.

Didn’t everyone have this conversation when that really awful movie, “The Animal” came out? In their tv commercials they had quotes from reviewers saying how hilarious it was and how it was the best comedy of the year, when they made up the reviews. Maybe 10 people saw it, and I wasn’t one of them. MAYBE she would have had a case in this one. She should shut her mouth, she’s probably just looking for a reality show.

Wonder if she is related to the person that sued McDonald’s because their coffee was hot…

      • Eolra

That’s not really the whole story on that particular McDonald’s case. You should read more about it – very interesting stuff, and not as black and white as the media sensationalism would have you think.

      • Sofia

        Right you are Tranzchick,

She probably did!! Because we all know that when you purchase a hot cup of coffee, it’s NOT supposed to be HOT!!

      • Laura

Actually you should see the documentary “hot coffee”– the woman had horrifying injuries requiring skin grafts and mcdonalds had received hundreds of previous complaints notifying them that their coffee was well above the proper temperature yet they ignored all of them and kept serving it at the same temp despite that notice of the problem. That was a legit suit that the media completely twisted for entertainment value.

And for the record, I’m a defense lawyer and will be the first to call BS on a lawsuit. It’s my job.

“Riding in Cars with Boys” stands out the most for me – trailer looks like quirky-single-mom-comedy; turned out to be crankypants-bitchy-depressing-melodrama.

There should be a penalty for filing frivolous lawsuits… and this woman should pay

    • Laura K.

There is. If it’s found to be frivolous, at least she, and possibly her attorney, can be held responsible for court costs.

  • loubeoh

Eff Sarah Deming. She represents the worst of the American culture. I hope she ends up miserable as a consequence of her selfish, stupid behavior and that the attorney taking her case is disbarred.

    • rachel

I suspect she already is pretty miserable if she’s willing to sue over something like this.

  • MikeyM

This Woman should be locked up.
You take a chance when you see a movie. If she had read anything about the movie, she would have known this was not a Fast and Furious movie.
Does them mean I can sue because of crap like Transformers 2 and 3?
    Rediculous.

What a serious misuse of the justice system. ALL trailers are made to make you think a movie is ACTION-PACKED or HILARIOUS. They are advertisements, just like an ad for cookies leads you to believe a cookie is delicious. This is called “puffery” and is totally within the confines of advertising law. Rubbish!

  • Roger C.

Drive was a really bad movie, but not worthy of a lawsuit.

    • Liz Lemon

What?! You Cray-Cray. Drive was amazing.

  • Sofia

Well, what can I say another IDIOT abusing our legal system!!! This woman needs a LIFE!!!! I’ve seen the trailers for the Fast & F. movies and I saw the trailer for Drive and never in a million years would I have confused the two. She’s just STUPID!!!!

  • Jpratm

What a stupid b**** . I bet she shows up at a regal theatre and get mad because she though it was AMC and the movie is closed captioned and she can hear. Or she brings in an old popcorn tub from spiderman 1 and gets pissed when they refuse to refill it because its from a years back . Shes also on her cell phone.

  • JPX

I was all set to see Drive until several of my friends warned me that it was not a chase film like it had been advertised. Her lawsuit is silly (do your homework, lady).

  • Sam S.

That’s what the “R” rating is for on the film. You could make this argument for any film. Every ad is filled with quotes saying a film is “the best of the year” etc. I remember the Sucker Punch ads saying “Its Kill Bill meets Inception,” which it was not. This woman is an idiot and desperate for attention. I Just got back from a screening of Drive and I’m glad the trailer was as cryptic as it was. It was an excellent film and “in a world where trailers reveal entirely too much” it was refreshing to experience a film for the first time not knowing much about it going in.

    • Darrin

Sucker Punch was one that came to mind to me as well, but only because all the trailers completely left out the whole plot about the cabaret/night club, which was actually a huge part of the movie.

So… what defamatory racism against the Jewish faith was in the film? I don’t remember any. Was it just that Albert Brooks is Jewish and dies a gruesome death? Or that Ron Pearlman’s a Jew in the film and gets killed? Neither of these guys were killed because they were Jews. They died because they attempted to hurt Gosling and Mulligan, and Gosling went after them. What’s the case for racism?

    • Jose

Beleive it or not that’s what she’s basing her case on. They’re Jewish and evil.

    • Alan

she has no case to begin with, so shes just pulling the racism card out just to make it more “believeable,” in her mind at least…but then again we are dealing with a stupid c**t here.

    • Jennifer

      Thanks for the spoilers. Ass.

      • Angela

Amen. I really want to see the movie, but I’m forcing myself to wait for the DVD.

  • Ilyssa

The American. The trailer made it seem like it was full of action. It was such a boring slow movie.

    • Anastasia Beaverhausen

Totally agree! It was so bad, my boyfriend & I did get our money back. Definitely the most misleading trailer I’ve ever seen. And it was SO depressing.

  • BrandonK

Oh, brother. And what was so defamatory about the Jewish faith? Just because the two main antagonists were Jewish doesn’t mean diddly.
