I wish more trailers WOULD mislead me. I’m sick of trailers showing the whole entire plotline.

The American was the most misleading trailer it made it look like an action film about a hitman escaping from his past but it was an artistic film slow moving no action until the five seconds at the end. I saw the Drive trailer and it was very obvious it was not a fast paced race thriller most of the movie was him driving mostly he would drive silently until he told the other characters they had him for 5 minutes

In fairness, the studio could have just run a title-card that simply stated “pointless, meandering, pretentious, derivative steaming pile of stool” and nobody could touch them as far as misrepresentation goes.

I knew a lot of people who hated Inglourious Basterds who were mislead by the trailer. They went in expecting a fast paced, by-the-book action movie and lost focus within the first (very talky) 20 minutes. The movie is fantastic and I thought they all had pretty short attention spans but if you weren’t familiar with Tarantino’s films you would be forgiven for not expecting something with so much conversation and relatively little action.

Lost in Translation, trailered as one of Bill Murray’s funniest comedies. I loved the movie, but most poeple I know felt misled.

Great article. I can¡¯t wait to hear more about your research tool. If it is as good as your other products, then you will have another winner. Your article pretty much summed up what I have been seeing too. Great to see some hard data.

Drive – being he drives or is a driver. The previews don’t make it seem like Fast and the Furious to me. And if someone wins a lawsuit based on” it wasn’t what I thought it would be” BS, would be ridiculous. Not everyone has the same opinion of a movie but to sue over movie tickets… get real.

Black Knight was not what I expected.

Where were the horses and the jousting, and the other nights.

If it were black night, why were there daylight scenes.

And Oh the pity, that people can know enough to sue, but are too stupid/lame/ignorant to read a review before going.

If you take any film class, one knows that the trailer is supposed to be able to sell ice to eskimos, beach front property to Hawaiian natives, and any schlocky film to anyone.

This lady is a friggin moron… I watched the trailer, I watch the movie, the trailer looks nothing like a fast and the furious trailer. This woman should be slapped in the face, as punishment 4 misleading me into thinking that all people have a brain.
