Snow White: The classic fairytale so nice, Hollywood made it twice. It’s true: In 2012 moviegoers will have not one, but two re-imaginings of the timeless tale to choose from and already, some strong opinions about Tarsem Singh’s yet-to-be-titled version (starring, among others, Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, Julia Roberts, Sean Bean, and Nathan Lane) and Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman (with Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, and Ian McShane) are being formed. Over the summer, we got our first glimpse of Snow White and the Huntsman at Comic-Con and comments from EW.com readers ranged from “This looks fantastic!” to “Looks like a Tim Burton rip-off.” But now that we’ve seen what the other Snow White film looks like, it’s time to decide once and for all, which looks the fairest of them all?

Looking at Lily Collins and Kristen Stewart‘s Snow Whites side-by-side, it’s clear that we are in for two very different interpretations of the lovely Brothers Grimm’s gal. (As one commenter pointed out, “The name Snow White is in both titles, but they are NOT the same film.”) While I have a feeling Stewart’s Snow White will cause more of an uproar (the character we grew up with never quite looked liked that), it might also garner more interest. Who wants a damsel in distress waiting to be kissed when you’ve got a warrior-like Snow White who looks to be kicking butt and taking names? (All seven of them!) Vote in the Snow White poll below and tell us, based on appearances alone, which one you like better:

How does one pick between two stunning Best Actress winners who are stepping into the shoes of one of the most iconic villains of all-time? At the risk of being put under some spell, I’ll say that they both look they’re going to give poor Snow White a hard time (though based on these photos alone, Julia Roberts looks slightly more Queen, while Charlize Theron looks a bit more Evil.) Okay, now you tell me, PopWatchers, which one of these ladies would you be more likely to take a poisoned apple from? Vote below:

Remember before when I pondered why we’d want a more classic Snow White who was just waiting around to be kissed by a handsome suitor? Well, I forgot to mention that handsome suitor would look an awful lot like Armie Hammer. (In the words of Liz Lemon, he already looks like, “A damn Disney prince.”) Of course, Hammer’s Prince isn’t the only one that would be nice to live happily ever after with. In Snow White and the Huntsman, there’s extra eye candy with Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) riding around. How’s a girl, namely Snow White, supposed to choose? Actually, you do that for her PopWatchers, in the poll below:
After seeing the photos, of which of the Snow White movies are you most excited to see? Or are you equally looking forward to both? Hi ho, hi ho, share in the comments section below!

‘Snow White’ Photos: EW First Look!
Behold! Julia Roberts as Evil Queen in ‘Snow White’ — FIRST LOOK

Why is SWATH getting the Tim Burton complaints? If anything, the Signh version that looks more Tim Burton/Alice in Wonderland/Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-ish with the candy colors and outrageous costumes.
THIS!
I’ve seen the cutesy, colourful version of Snow White ENOUGH times already, so I find that ‘Snow White and The Huntsman’ is doing the right thing by shaking it up….Long live the Snow White warrior!
Exactly. I thought they meant the opposite. Julia Roberts looks like the Queen of Hearts. Yuck.
actually snow white and the huntsman looks like a lord of the rings rip off vs anything else. esp, with the tree of gondor stuck on her shield.
I’ll watch any movie that has Julia Roberts in it.
I won’t watch any movie that has Julia Roberts in it.
Fix’d.
@JE-TO THE MAX! Well I’d agree with you but then I could never again watch “Steel Magnolias” which I watch for the REST of the cast. I did declare a moratorium on my feeling of “she is so overrated that I MUST DISLIKE her” in the Erin Brockovich movie because I felt she earned that Oscar. I wish….oh how I wish, that Charlize Theron would be paired up in the Lily Collins version.
Yeah really, who actually likes that annoying cackle anymore?
Since I despise Kristin Stewart and Charlize Theron, I have to go with the more classic Snow White.
That’s hardly a fair assessment.
If it were other actresses you respected highly, would you then want to see Snow White and The Huntsman? It really isn’t a fair way to judge the movies – I’m more interested in the Huntsman film simplyt because it actually LOOKS like a reimagining – where as the more classic Snow White looks to be the same affair with an extra dose of eye-burning color.
I didn’t say my choice was the better film, but, if I’m watching actors I dislike it spoils the experience for me.
Don’t like their acting?
Charlize Theron is a great actor, Stewart is OK, and she seems like a pretty kick-ass person in interviews – I’m not sure what you would hold against them. You don’t tell me that shot of Kristen Stewart in that armor doesn’t look totally bad-ass??
how is that not a fair statement? if you don’t an actor 9 times out of 10 you won’t sit through their movie.
what’s not to like about Charlize Theron?
If it were anyone other than one dimensional Kristen Stewart, I’d be more interested in the darker looking version.
Word.
Agreed. I hate Kristen Stewart. She always looks like she’s pissed off about something no matter what role she’s playing.
Kristen Stewart’s going to play the role the same way she plays every role: messing around with her hair, mouth constantly open, biting her lips, looking glum/miserable/sulky, fidgeting constantly and blinking rapidly.
THIS. In all of the preview pics so far, Kristen Stewart doesn’t have much expression on her face – Lily Collins, in the screenshots we’ve seen so far, does.
I only wish they could somehow merge the two movies together, just keeping Lily Collins, Armie Hammer, and Charlize Theron.
Don’t forget Sean Bean!
all the preview pics? the pic above is the only official photo universal has release and it was just for comic-con because kstew has her brown hair, I don’t think they’ll be using that one for promo. And if you’re talking about the pap pics I can send you a bunch of them where she’s smiling. You think Lily is such a great actress? Go see Abduction, I don’t know which one is worst, her or Taylor.
I started crushing on her from “into the wild”-she was a knockout in that.
I completely agree. I would be all over this movie if it had almost anyone else in the role. But as soon as they announced Stewart as the lead, I lost all interest in ever watching the film.
Completely with you. The Huntsman version seems most unique and interesting, but I cannot stand K-Stew, so I won’t be seeing that. Definitely looking forward to the Lily/Julia version – it looks whimsical and fun.
Julia Roberts looks more like the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland than the queen from Snow White.
word
I saw her and told a friend that it looked like she was on her way to save Cinderella, not kill Snow White with a poisoned apple.
I thought the same thing, Julia looks more like the queen of hearts from alice
She looks b!tchy and a bit campy, not scary. The tone of her film is lighter than the other is, so I guess that’s appropriate.
She looks the part though, which is all that matters to me.
This Snow White is supposed to be more of a dark comedy anyways.
I don’t think she looks the part at all. In part because she looks too modern with her hair and makeup, she is so a jen aniston who insists on keeping her consistent looks. And partly cause she looks like she’s phoning this all in, even in the promo stills.
Yeah I’m agreeing on the Julia angle you point out. I WANT to feel MENACED by the Queen, not campy. Besides, you CAN’T force camp, it rises inherently out of itself. When its forced it falls flat, but the masses think “Oh that was SOOOO great”. I much prefer Charlize’s look. Not so pretty womanish red.
Snow White and the Huntsman has a much stronger cast and it will be at least be more critically successful at least than the other film.
Julia Roberts doesn’t look like an evil villain at all and the crew is very lazy to not transform her appearance for this film.
Both movies should have had seven recognisable actors with comedic experience as the Seven Dwarfs.
Did you seriously just say that? Snow White has Julia Roberts, Armie Hammer (The Social Network), Sean Bean (Game of Thrones), and Lily Collins (The Blind Side). SWATH has the dreadful Kristen Stewart and the sometimes-okay Charlize Theron. So Snow White has the strongest cast, by far.
And I think it will all come down to how the film is marketed. If SW sticks with it’s whimsical image, it could be as big as Alice in Wonderland. If SWATH keeps up its emo image, it will look trashy and boring.
Snow White and the Huntsman has the strongest cast because it features Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Ian McShane, Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Graham, Ray Winstone and Nick Frost.
lmao, have you seen Julia in Valentine’s Day, Larry Crown, ect.? She was awful on those. Armie Hammer is only known for Social Network, Sean Bean will probably die on the first scene and Lily collins is an unknown who, like the movie, was horrible on Abduction. Come on, Just the dwarfs on SWATH can put to shame the cast of relativity SW
Dpn’t forget Kristen one also has Ian McShane which sold me on the movie
Charlize theron always kicks some major butt in every movie- i dont rememeber the last time she got any less than stellar review-she plays a different person in every movie- unlike julia roberts who plays the same persnon all the time.
Snow White & The Huntsman does have a far superior cast:-
Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Stewart will surprise people and fits the warrior snow White. Speaking of warriors, it’s the warrior Dwarves that had the movie world buzzing for this film:- “These dwarves are warriors too and they are all given the names of Roman Emperors: Ian McShane (Pirates of The Caribbean 4, Deadwood) is their leader Caesar, Ray Winstone (Beowulf, The Departed) as Trajan, Bob Hoskins (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Disney’s A Christmas Carol) as Constantine, Nick Frost (Paul, Tintin, Shaun of The Dead) as Tiberius, Toby Jones (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy – Captain America, The Rite), Eddie Marsan (Hancock, The Disappearance of Alice Creed) as Hadrian, the brother of Ray Winstone’s Trajan and Stephen Graham (Pirates of The Caribbean 4, Snatch) as Nero.” The cast and concept are outstanding. I want to see both, but if had to choose only one, SW&TH would win every time…
Listen honey, Julia has been awful on her latest films. Armie is only known from Social Network. Sean Bean will probably die on the first scene. Lily collins is an unknown who was horrible on Abduction. Just the Dwarfs on SWATH can put relativity cast to shame!
Sean Bean doesn’t die in this movie, especially not the first scene.
bean’s part is small. he’s the dad king, who is a peripheral character.
I’ll see the KStew version for Chris Hemsworth alone.
I may see the other version for Sean Bean alone.
lol. i recognize your name teresa. are you going to go to every single board again, and post the same thing?
Gotta go with Huntsman primarily because I can’t stand Julia Roberts. I don’t think she’s a good actress and there is just something about her I’ve never liked.
ha-julia roberts is so giving singh cut eye in that picture for the dumb costume. You can tell she barely tolerate it.
I think that’ll be the clincher for me. Will these Hollywood actors be onboard with Tarsem’s vision?
they seem hardly comparable, with one looking like it was made for 7 year olds and one looking like it was made for older viewers. I’m sure both will find their audience. Love the dwarves in the Universal SW though, bunch of bad azz dudes.
I don’t like kristen in those twilight movies, but maybe that’s because bella is boring. Wearing armor and opening cans of whoop a s s seem more up her alley though, so her movie looks stronger.
charlize obviously outqueens julia. Julia looks like the queen mother at a royal wedding.
Snow White and the Huntsman looks way more interesting. The other version looks pretty dumb. The evil queen looks like a damn cup cake. Big ass fail. Charlize looks like a true evil queen. I’m not so sure about kristin Stewart but I’m willing to give her a try, she looks much better than the other snow white.
julia roberts looks like she wants to cut a beyotch-not cuase she’s an evil queen, but having to wear such a dumb looking getup. She looks so put out…haha
Cant Stand Kristen Stewart , and I like the looks of the other Snow White with Lily .
Stewart looks awesome in her getup and I saw the pics of her on the horses leading a charge. Give me that type of princess over the usual docile punching bag princesses we usually get.
