Which 'Beauty and the Beast' and 'Little Mermaid' scenes do you want to see in 3-D RIGHT NOW?

The news that Disney will re-release Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid (along with Pixar’s Finding Nemo and Monsters Inc.) in 3-D over the next two years has me so giddy and excited that I’ve almost yanked out all my sadly not flaming red Disney hair with my dinglehopper in anticipation of what an extra dimension can do for those Disney classics. So I think I’ll TAKE FIVE from the self-torture and present to you…

Five Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid scenes I want to see in 3-D RIGHT NOW:

5. “Tale as Old as Time”

Just to see how much CHEESIER it would be in 3-D. And because Angela Lansbury is probably dying to be a 3-D teacup. But mostly because one can never truly escape the ballroom.

Totally forgot about the Beast’s sudsy bath scene, by the way. That is NOT in the top 5.

4.”Poor Unfortunate Souls” (pt. 2)

The second rendition, when Ariel sprouts legs in the orange protoplasm (?) (fishoplasm?) bubble and Ursula screams “KEEP SINGING!!!!” and you’re like “how can such a magnificent voice be cooped up in such a nondescript seashell?”

3. “Les Poissons”

Mostly to see what they’d do with moments like this. And because I like any excuse to sit and shout “HEE HEE HEE, HUH HUH HUH” at my computer.

2. “Be Our Guest”

This one’s a given. I just REALLY hope the 3-D doesn’t cause Lumiere to set everyone on fire. The whole scene is beggin’ for it.

1. “Under the Sea”

“Each little slug here, cutting a rug here, now in 3-D!”…is something they should NOT say.

Let’s not go and RUIN anything, okay?

What about you, PopWatchlehoppers?

Kiss the girl!! The 3-d layers will look amazing!

Which scenes do I want to see in 3D? Hmm, how about…none of them. Screw 3D. These movies don’t need it. People need to stop feeding into this 3D craze so it can finally go away.

Just because you don’t like 3D doesn’t mean other people don’t. I didn’t care one way or the other, until I got a 3D TV. Now 3D fascinates me, although admittedly more the programming on the Discovery/Imax/Sony channel than movies.

Okay, but its a CHANCE TO SEE THEM AGAIN!!!!!!!! AHHH! I was 4 months old when ” The Little Mermaid” came out in 1989. And 2 yrs. old when B&B came out.

      • Tad

        Nope, that can’t be true.

      • Alyssa

Yep. I have ” The Mermaid Curse” as I call it. You should see my room. Ariel collection, and Disney stuff.

Is 3D really that fascinating to people? Why is it something to get so excited about? “Ooh, it looks like it’s coming right at me!” Why is that so cool? Give me three-dimensional characterization any day over 3D special effects.

  • Nerwen Aldarion

How about Beasts transformation after he dies? I’d love to see that one in 3D!

    • Amy

Yes, and when he grabs his chest and shouts “Belle!”

Are they going to release any of the classics in 3D? I’d LOVE to see 3D Peter Pan!

The scene when Ariel is finishing the reprise of Part of Your world and she’s on the rock with the giant wave crashing behind her. I’M SO EXCITED

  • Joey

Saw Beauty & the Beast 3d a few weeks ago here in LA, looked amazing, much better than Lion King. Glad they are expanding that one.

  • Alyssa

” Poor Unfortunate Souls” – When Ursula’s hands come out at Ariel.

The Fight scene between Gaston and Beast.

    ” Under the Sea”

    ” Part of your World”

Just excited that these movies will be back in the movie theaters

  • Courtney Sloane

3-D or not, I am totally pumped about these being in theaters.
I’m not usually a fan of 3-D movies, but I loved the Lion King a couple of weeks ago. Honestly, I don’t think I enjoyed it any more in 3-D than I would have normally, I was just excited to see it in theaters again.
    Ahhh nostalgia.

I really think “Aladdin” had some scenes that would be great in a good 3D conversion, like the escape from the Cave of Wonders, the magic carpet ride, Jafar’s triumph, the Prince Ali song, “Never Had a Friend Like Me”…I need to watch that movie again!

  • pastafarian

The priest’s erection near the end of The Little Mermaid. I could do without that one.

    • Voodoo

That’s wasn’t an erection, if that’s what you thought it was then your blind. Besides, they altered the scene for the recent dvd releases so I doubt it’s still in the movie.

    • Alyssa

Some sick parents seeing things in Disney movies that weren’t there. Its called getting your head out of the gutter.

  • Andrew

“Under the Sea,” Kiss the Girl,” the title song of “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Be Our Guest” will all look amazing in 3D.

  • Allison

My choice would have to be the transformation of the Beast back to his human form…
