She was fabulous! One of the best hosts, I think. The HVR skit was hilarious and I died when she blew on the horse balloon’s string. Melissa is amazing!

I am 33 and also named Melissa, I have been watching SNL for probably 20 years. This was the first time in my entire SNL watching life (and this includes the old reruns from the 70s and 80s) that I laughed until I cried, almost peed my pants and am just so happy that Melissa McCarthy rocked it. I will never delete this episode from my DVR. Melissa, thank you! Thank you for showing the world that women ARE funny!

      ????????????

  • The Cap’n

She was great, but I haven’t seen material this bad in a really long time. I did like Little Poundcake, though.

She was fantastic, SNL is two for two this season, Ben Stiller better bring his A game.

Best episode in a long time! Melissa McCarthy is fantastic!

Melissa is fantastic in SNL! Even when her skits weren’t the funniest, Melissa is still amazing in them. She is hilarious, and I think her comedy skills really shone in this episode. Hopefully she hosts again! I like this episode 100x more than the Alec Baldwin one from a week ago.

Just in case you’re not clear, Radiohead fans are not Lady Antebellum fans. One of this things is not like the other.

One thing isn’t like the other – you are right. But personally, I love Radiohead but thought Lady Antebellum was pretty good last night on the first song. (I turned it off before the second one). You can like more than one type of music.

I wish SNL did. They are so stuck on a certain genre of music they keep missing some really good stuff. I never heard of Bruno Mars before his performance and am starting to want to throw a grernade AT him.

What a lame comment. I own every album by both groups.

Melissa was so funny. She had the fearlessness of Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon. I thought it was actually solid from start to finish. The digital short was the weakest part. I love Lady A but the sound mix didn’t seem right. Sounded loud and I didn’t like the effects on the vocals during “Just a Kiss”. They still sounded good though.

Melissa McCarthy was great. I wish there was more of Kristen Wiig with her, but that made room for the underrated Taran Killam to get out there and rock some sketches! He’s one of my favorites, I love to see him bring the funny..and how about that dancing??

The Hidden Valley Ranch skit was hilarious. She was great.

Melissa McCarthy is a natural! Just classically AWESOME!!! Last nights episode was a revival of the grand days when Chris Farley was alive,,,she is the female Farley. The writing fit her style and she molded the skits to legendary clips. McCarthy looked like she belonged as a regular cast member.

  • The Chew!

She was great. I felt bad for her that those skits were the best the SNL writers could come up with. She deserved much better. However, she did more than anyone could have expected with such mediocre material. I hope she comes back, and I hope the writing is better when she does. So far this season, we’ve had two hosts who were ready to entertain us, but they’ve really not had very good material.

McCarty is no doubt talented but I wish she did something outside of her Bridesmaids character. I didn’t laugh once last night. Chris Roch skit was the best of the night.

      Agree!

    • da truf

The two of you have horrible taste in comedy if you think the one-note Chris Rock skit was the best part of the night.

  • Mic

She was outstanding! Funniest night of SNL I can remember in ages.

  • APauled

I was so excited Melissa McCarthy was on SNL until I watched it. I thought the skits were lousy. She is so talented. I love her on “Mike and Molly” and I saw her in Bridesmaids. She has a broader range than SNL did not tap in to.
