'Dragon Tattoo' teased with 8-minute unrated trailer -- but you may never see it

dragon_tattoo_poster

Impatience.

If there’s a feeling you’re left with after watching David Fincher’s secret 8-minute preview reel for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, that’s it.

Perhaps it’s a symptom of a malnourishing movie summer, but there is palpable hunger for Dec. 21 to arrive and deliver this thriller to the cineplex. So, naturally, when word leaked out that this special, unrated showcase of TGWTDT would be presented before a handful of screenings of Straw Dogs last night, people queued up like it was a Depression Era bread line.

Unfortunately for Straw Dogs, which opens Friday, this clip will not be presented during its regular showings. A tamer “all audiences” preview will show before Moneyball, but it will certainly lack some of the more disturbing imagery presented in this one. Supposedly, this unrated sequence will not be released online, but… who believes that?

Here’s what it shows… READ FULL STORY »

'Arrested Development' movie: Jason Bateman admits 'It's frustrating'

There has been talk of an Arrested Development movie since the show’s abrupt end in 2006. With the film’s development, well, arrested nearly twice as long as the actual run of the show itself, are you gnashing at the teeth and shivering in your denim cut-offs, beloved never nudes? Well we have some cautiously optimistic news for you: Jason Bateman, in a U.K. presser for The Change-Up (the film is released overseas tomorrow), admitted with a heavy sigh, “It’s frustrating for me that I can’t give fans of the show a more concrete answer because I am as much of a fan of the show as they are. I get it.” That said, he confirmed that negotiations for the film were still on course and made an admittedly unofficial guess that shooting would begin “in the middle of next year.” See the full video after the jump. Elisabeth Hasselbeck feuds with Michael Moore, gets free publicity for 'Angels Among Us.' Will you watch it tonight?

Categories: Television, The View

Putting Michael Moore and Elisabeth Hasselbeck in a room is like combining Mentos and Diet Coke. You know you’re going to see something explosive, yet you can’t help but be fascinated by the mess. So it was no surprise that on Wednesday’s episode of The View, Moore — on the show to promote his memoir, Here Comes Trouble: Stories From My Life — Moore and Hasselbeck got into a spirited debate about (what else?) politics. (Watch video embedded below.) Specifically, the politics surrounding Osama bin Laden’s death. In short, Moore believed we should not have killed bin Laden (“The way we show the world that we’re different is that we give even the most heinous person their day in court,” he said), while Hasselbeck doesn’t seem to quite trust our justice system. (“Why, because Casey Anthony’s trial went so well, we should put Osama bin Laden on the stand?”)

It was a debate that, as you can see by the very existence of this article, launched quite a few headlines. That’s a good deal for Hasselbeck, since her new CMT series, Angels Among Us, premiere tonight. Though her new show takes on quite a different format than the Hot Topics of The ViewAngels follows stories of real-life men and women who believe angels saved them from tragedy — free publicity is free publicity, right? This Week's Cover: Brad Pitt gives a frank, funny, uncensored interview about his life and career

Brad Pitt gives a rare, three-and-a-half hour interview in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly, speaking from London where he’s promoting Moneyball and shooting the zombie epic World War Z. He talks about career highs, like meeting Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith: “We had some good workshops beforehand. Had some good laughs and ideas. That was just a great collaboration that turned into a greater collaboration.” He admits the couple may want to rethink their policy of never working at the same time — it helps with child rearing, but also means they can’t make movies together. “We should be doing them together,” Pitt says, in the first in a series called The EW Interview, dedicated to icons reflecting on their careers. “That’s what we should be doing. We should be doing everything together, and then we could work less. We could have more time off.” READ FULL STORY »

'Top Chef: Just Desserts' has a 'Willy Wonka' reunion! Simply look around and view it

So shines a good deed in a weary world. I can’t believe they hadn’t done this yet! In honor of Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory‘s 40th anniversary this year, Top Chef: Just Desserts issued a “Pure Imagination” challenge for the contestants to create their own edible “World of Wonder” a.k.a. Wonka’s Chocolate Room. Some of the original cast — the actors who played Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teevee, and Charlie Bucket (Peter Ostrum, pictured at right) — were on hand to taste the confectionery rainbow and lament the absence of Augustus Gloop. It’s just as well — had he been there, the amped-up water pressure on Chris’ chocolate waterfall might have swept him away all over again. He’d have been made into marshmallows in five seconds. 'America's Next Top Model: All-Stars' premiere: André Leon Talley's new hat and Nigel's new hair are my favorite contestants

I’ve long considered the possibility that Top Model is just a schizophrenic fever dream taking place entirely in Tyra Banks’ head, as her multiple personalities battle each other for dominance until they’re winnowed down to one, just like that movie with John Cusack. The opening sequence of the season premiere did nothing to dissuade me of that notion, showing Tyra in bed being haunted by nightmarish visions of herself dressed as contestants of previous cycles demanding to be allowed to compete once more. She wakes up sobbing and terrified, agreeing to do an All-Star season just to make the voices stop and allow her to get some sleep. Of course, little does she know, she’s still dreaming. BWAAAANNNH! 'Big Brother' season finale: And the winner is...

Categories: Big Brother

UPDATE: My full recap of all the season finale shenanigans is live! Check it out here.

Tonight, two of the great polarizing contestants in Big Brother history will compete against a lovely young girl named after a car. The prize: half a million dollars, plus bragging rights for winning a season defined by rug-pulling twists and Veteran domination. For me, the season never quite recovered its energy after the high point of the Daniele/Jeff double-eviction bloodbath, but it’s easy to understand why this summer’s Big Brother had the series’ highest ratings since 2004: From Evel Dick’s mysterious departure to Brendon’s eviction-return-eviction, from Jeff’s betrayed-puppy Jury House meltdown to Jordan’s brilliant farewell-speech takedown of Porsche, and from Daniele’s plotting to Rachel’s semi-schizophrenic mood swings, this was a good season for old favorites. (As for new favorites…well, I kind of liked Shelly.)

Who will be crowned the victor of Big Brother? I and my fellow recapper Kate Ward are betting big on Rachel. We’ll all find out tonight on the 90-minute finale. UPDATE: The votes are in and a new winner has been crowned! Read all about it after the jump (SPOILER ALERT!) READ FULL STORY »
