'The Real Housewives of New York': Now auditioning brunettes

Housewives-NY-Jill-Kelly

Oh for the love of, let this be true. A report on today’s HuffPost Celebrity suggests that Bravo has given the ax to Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon, and Alex McCord of the Real Housewives of New York. “No decisions have been made yet,” is all a Bravo rep would allow to EW. If the network does indeed shed the trio, that would leave Sonja Morgan, Countess LuAnn, and two remaining original cast members Ramona Singer and Pinot Grigio. Poor Cindy Barshop, last season’s disappointing addition to the line-up, didn’t even warrant a mention. (Though she later coughed up a response to the pseudo news: “Everything out there right now is just rumors. Nothing is 100 [percent] decided yet, it could go either way.”)  READ FULL STORY »

How I Met Your Mother’s Barney Stinson may be a cad, but Neil Patrick Harris has proven himself to be a class act over the course of his 23-year career. The actor received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today — the 2,448th in Walk history. The ceremony took place on Los Angeles’s Hollywood Boulevard near the famous Pantages theater. HIMYM co-star Jason Segel, Harris’s partner David Burtka, and Joss Whedon (director of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog) were in attendance. HIMYM‘s seventh season premieres on CBS this Monday, Sept. 19.

Henry Winkler is often called the Nicest Man in Hollywood, but now he’s also known as an Honorary Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE). He was awarded the honor from the Queen (via British Ambassador Nigel Sheinwald, pictured with Winkler) this week in recognition of his services to children with dyslexia and special educational needs. According to the British Embassy in Washington, he’s spent much of the last two years touring the U.K. to educate about dyslexia and other learning difficulties. Winkler, who was diagnosed with dyslexia as an adult, is also the author of 17 children’s books centered on Hank Zipzer, a boy with dyslexia who overcomes his struggles at school and with bullies.

There are two things I love about the press release: READ FULL STORY »

Did Rachel deserve to win 'Big Brother'? Who SHOULD have won?

Categories: Big Brother

I don’t think anyone could have possibly predicted the final outcome of this season of Big Brother. And I’m not just referring to the fact that Rachel — one of the reality show’s great love-to-hate villains — triumphed over adversity (and her own uncanny ability to put her foot so deep into her mouth that she winds up kicking her brain.) I’m talking about the fact that, by the time she won, it was actually possible to feel incredibly happy for her. Haters can hate, but the Redheaded Wonder embarked on a late-season charm offensive that her seem like heroic and even kind of adorable — especially compared to the generally lame batch of contestants who surrounded her. If you ask me, no one deserved to win Big Brother more. READ FULL STORY »

'It's Always Sunny' returns tonight. This could very well be the gang's most depraved season yet.

The seventh season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia not only crosses the line, it goes so far beyond the line that it enters a whole new territory of the delightfully twisted. Even the most devoted Paddy’s Pub patrons may wonder if they’ve taken a wrong turn. So, in short, this could just be the best season yet.

Believe me, I realize what a bold statement that is to make, considering this is a series that has already had its characters eat human meat, unofficially adopt a “dumpster baby,” and be genuinely terrible at every possible opportunity. READ FULL STORY »

'The Last Dragon' stars reunite! Do you feel the glow?

Categories: Movies, Nostalgia

MptvImages.com

If you got the glow reference in the headline or have ever answered “Sho Nuff!” to the question “Who’s the Master?” then chances are you’ve come to appreciate the cult classic that is The Last Dragon. Berry Gordy’s campy, Harlem-set 1985 martial arts musical had a  legion of us marveling at the combined radiance of Taimak (as the too-damn-cute buttkicking innocent “Bruce” Leroy Green) and Vanity (his lady love/damsel in distress Laura) — and yes, they both were single-name stars. But we also had a soft spot for little brother Ritchie, played by Leo O’Brien. So news that O’Brien was shot three times on Labor Day was surprising and sad. But then came word that not only was O’Brien fine, somehow that tragedy had led to him and Taimak acting together again. What the what?! READ FULL STORY »

Who was the best Emmys host of all time? Conan? Ellen? Carson? NPH?

While we have all the confidence in the world that Jane Lynch will do a stellar job hosting the Emmys this Sunday, there’s no question that the Glee star has some tough acts to follow. Just last year, Jimmy Fallon knocked it out of the park early with his Springsteen-inspired, cameo-heavy (Jon Hamm! Betty White!… Kate Gosselin?) musical number, while Neil Patrick Harris — who had his own musical number — did what he does best in 2009, emceeing the evening with his usual poise and charm. (Just as he did the Tonys!)

But were they the best hosts ever? READ FULL STORY »

Does Wyclef Jean support Sarah Palin? You betcha!

File under: Unexpected Political Allies. Wyclef Jean — firm supporter of Barack Obama — announced his love of Sarah Palin at a Fashion Week event on Monday, reports Women’s Wear Daily. “I have to tell you this: I am a huge fan of Sarah Palin,” he announced unexpectedly. “Cause she’s rad. She’s shrewd. She’s cool.” He added that, in America, “Anyone should have the right to say, ‘Look I can do the job and this is what qualifies me to do the job.’”

I’ve got to be honest, PopWatchers. I didn’t see this one coming. What about you? How do you think Palin would feel about her new supporter? On a sliding scale of the absurd, where does this stack up again John McCain and Snooki?

New Jersey is paying 'Jersey Shore' almost half a million dollars in tax credits

jersey-shore-J-WOWW

Politicians are attempting to justify yesterday’s decision to award Jersey Shore a $420,000 tax credit by noting that the show has an economic halo effect. No less an authority than the mayor of Seaside Heights, P. Kenneth Hershey, claims that the series provides an essential boost to the local economy, although to be fair, that “boost” mostly comes in the form of additional shots ordered at Karma and overtime pay for beefy security dudes who have to follow the Jersey Shore cast everywhere. 'Glee' star Jonathan Groff talks Lea Michele's mouth, Sutton Foster's tongue, and more

Star of stage and Glee Jonathan Groff recently welcomed Broadway personality Susan Blackwell to his father’s horse farm in Strasburg, Penn., for a rather revealing interview. Groff showed Blackwell around the farm and introduced his dog Jesse St. James, named after his Glee character. It was just the first such gem sure to make the mouths of Gleeks and Spring Awakening fans water. So which Glee co-star has the dubious honor of having a goat named after him or her? What are Groff’s undergarment preferences? And does he have his sights set on an Oscar one day? See the full interview after the jump. READ FULL STORY »
